Do people really want phones that are this fucking big?
My Evo is the perfect size. I don't think it is too big at all and the large screen is great. I don't think I would want anything more than a 4.3" screen though, it's just the right size.

All these announcements are killing me!

I have had my phone upgrade discount from Verizon since mid-December, and have been month-to-month with Verizon since September. I'm still using an LG EnV and I've been wanting to upgrade to a smartphone so bad (the DroidX release was a very stressful time for me :lol ).

Basically I'm living in an area where 4G isn't even a remote possibility, but 3G coverage seems to be about equal for all the national carriers, and I'm unsure whether I should stick with Verizon or jump ship to a less expensive carrier, let alone whether I should pull the trigger now on a smartphone or wait until (March!!!?) for the dual-core phones to start rolling out. Decisions, decisions :-(
making it harder.
Verizon is having an invite only event on jan 11....

"Before Christmas" is only technically accurate. It was the first week of December, or one month ago. I can't think of one good reason we don't have it yet. It was done well before the holiday rush. I guess they wanted to give the S an exclusivity window with gingerbread, but its getting ridiculous now.

The Nexus S didn't hit stores until the Dec 16th. The "coming weeks" confirmation that I saw
for the N1 GBread update was from a 12/20 update on the official Google Nexus S Twitter feed. Is there another confirmation you guys are referring to that was earlier than that?

I any case, I agree that I wish they made the N1 update a higher priority. Currently it looks like the priority was Gbread for Nexus S > AOSP >Holiday break >> N1 OTA GBread. Not really a surprise.

Pretty awesome how when you have the phone hooked up via HDMI and playing to a TV, the phone turns into a control device. So it's basically powering two separate displays instead of just cloning what's on the screen of the phone.

Now THIS is what I want in my portable device.

Yup... I seriously am in love with how Moto has pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Very impressed with the potential of this phone.

I still have 2.1 on my MyTouch Slide. My wife's MyTouch is breaking and when we called the CSR said "Well, it's two years old. That's to be expected."

...why am I still with T-Mobile? What are some good Android devices not on T-Mobile? If I can't find a decent set of Android phones, I'm jumping ship to Apple.

Is Motorola better with releasing OS updates compared to Samsung?
Yeh, anyone with a top selling Android phone usually gets updates quick. Moto's Droids, HTC's EVO, etc.

Samsung with their 10 million+ Galaxy S sales can't be bothered while they roll around in money.

AT&T: Motorola Atrix and HTC Inspire if you can wait. Samsung Captivate (Despite how much I bitch about this phone, I really do love it)

Sprint: Samsung Epic, HTC EVO Shift

Verizon: Any phone from their DROID line. HTC Thunderbolt.

I know this isnt the main topic for this but it was at the top of page 1 and is about Android.

I just bought "Game Dev Story" on the market. I bought it yesterday and it said downloading and thats it. Never installed. So I asked for a refund thinking maybe just a random error and I'll try again later.

Rebooted my HTC Hero

This morning I repurchase game and get the "no more refund" which kinda sucks but understandable.
The game says it downloads(despite me saying a long DL time its kinda instant). After that if I go to my apps and see it there it just says "Purchased" if I click it and try to manual install, it just says it will download and than just sits there with no status change, nothing in notification bar, nada.

I cant figure it out :\
Anyone?

Never hurts to do research on other options around your area. You basically can't go wrong now with any carrier when it comes to android.

I'd wait to see how many iPhone users leave ATT before recommending them.

How do you get the updated youtube app? I have froyo already but when I sent in my N1 for repairs I now have the older version that doesn't do the portrait playback.

well, people leaving AT&T's network to Verizon for the iPhone will be a big load of their back for sure and only help their network since it will have less users on it. I still imagine there will be some slowness until they roll out their entire HSPA+ and start moving to LTE as well.

LTE upgrading is very slow in germany atm so i don't think that the Atrix will come to germany. I don't like Motorola (and Motoblur) but the Atrix is very nice. I still hope that HTC has some big (dual core) guns coming out in the near future.

good stuff. I hope his influence also affects third party developers so apps for Android keep getting better.

That interview was great! You can see Matias is having much fun on Android. Seems he loves the challenge.

I know Honeycomb is set to appear in February, but I wonder how long will it take to get it on the Nexus S, and then to the One.

Thinking of Rooting my HTC Desire to get Gingerbread.

Is rooting worth it? I mean i'm already customized to hell with LauncherPRO etc.

Can it easily be unrooted in case something fucks up and i need a replacement?

I'm annoyed cos because I debranded my Desire to escape T-mobile firmware, due to new security checks I can't get any more OTA updates - they used to work and don't now.

So at some point I'll probably root or stick a different build on there, but I don't want to lose all my data again.

Desire or Desire HD ? If Desire HD , change your CID.

If AT&T is calling HSPA+ 4G like T-Mobile, I wonder what they are going to call LTE and LTE advanced.

They are calling HSPA+ and LTE their 4G network so many people are going to be confused they should have just waited til their LTE rollout later in the year to start calling it 4G.

:lol @ your tag

Android automatically manages memory itself. It will use up most memory but if you require more than what is currently available it will free it itself.

Got an answer from AT&T

Our records show that your contract expires on 2/5/2011. At that time, you are not required to make any changes to your agreement with AT&T. You can continue to use the same rate plan and equipment that you are currently enjoying. This means that even once the contract expires, you may maintain your unlimited smartphone data plan.

Now I can wait for the Atrix. I am liking it more than the Infuse 4G.

However, I think they can force a new contract on you when you do upgrade without granfathering in unlimited. There were reports of that when they went to non unlimited making exception only for the Iphone buyers. The way around it was to buy the phone outright.

I hope I am wrong.

Also, when are those two coming out?

Man with Verizon, ATT and TMo dropping all these bomb ass android phones / tablets / electronics. I am so pissed at Sprint, all they announced was.....the playbook. Fuckin A. I might bite the bullet and go somewhere else. Thinking about TMo ATM.

This is why you are losing customers Sprint.

They did good with the Evo 4G but then they just sorta stopped trying.

Alright, Androphiles, I need the best utility for syncing music between my Mac and Droid X. Suggestions?
I use iSyncr on Windows. They have a Mac version in the android marketplace also. Costs $2.99

It is extremely simple little program that simply works. Also syncs the ratings and play counts.

I have tried double twist and I didn't enjoy it. The software you need to install on your computer needs polish.

do all of your mp3 tags sync properly from iTunes? It's very random for me, sometimes they are perfect, sometimes the track titles work but it will say "Unknown Artist," sometimes the track # tag is messed up...

basically I'm trying to figure out the best way to get my tags working correctly in iTunes and on my Droid X. I used DoubleTwist syncer for a bit, but now I just connect the phone and do USB Mass Storage and drag and drop.

I haven't come upon any problems using iSyncr. I have a smart playlist with all of my 4 and 5 star songs that I use to put music on my phone. All album art and ID3 tags are imported correctly. And when I launch the program it will then sync the play count back to iTunes.

You can download the trial and it will only sync 20 songs but you can see if you tags import over correctly.

Looks like the Wifi version of the Xoom will be available sometime in April?

http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/08/motorola-xoom-wifi-only-version-confirmed-by-motorola-latin-amer/

Latin America GM Maurizio Angelone has told Infobae that a WiFi-only version does indeed exist and will first arrive in April -- one month before the 3G version will hit the market. The article doesn't specify if those months are specifically for Argentina or if they apply elsewhere as well, but it does sound like it'll be available sooner rather than later.

Any good external controllers for android phones? I know of the wiimote apps, but they say they don't work on phones with htc sense, and I have an evo.
