just played with a thunderbolt and a xoom again.
Leave it to best buy to not have the thunderbolt activated, so all I can really comment on was the hardware experience. I have an OG droid, and the 4.3 in screen feels HUGE. It's kind of disconcerting, though I know that's where phones are going so I'll probably just have to get used to it. The hardware felt solid; it's big, heavy (i like heavy) and the kickstand is a nice touch. It's thick enough and rounded on the back so it fits in your hand as well as a 4.3" phone could.
I'm not a fan of sense, but I use launcher pro so that's an easy replacement. I was kind of surprised that the phone wasn't 'lightning' fast (excuse the pun). It didn't hang per se but my droid running at 1.1ghz is even a bit snappier. Screen was bright and crisp. If I were up for replacement now i'd definitely consider it.
As for the xoom, I think that's been beaten to death here so the only thing I really played with was the portrait scrolling (and google body, for shits). Every time i'd return to the home screen, either in portrait or landscape, there was a couple ms lag you could feel, but otherwise I thought portrait scrolling was actually fine. After messing around with the xoom a few times I've come to the conclusion that it's a well put together piece of hardware, and the software just has to catch up. I won't be in the tablet market for a while so I'm excited to see where things go...
EDIT: Wouldn't you expect the incredible S to be on verizon? If so, why no 4g? After seeing those speeds on the thunderbolt everything without it just seems...uncivilized.
