Anyone else have a tearing problem when scrolling (notably on GAF)? Is this issue related to the standard browser? Also when I type sometimes the screen just jumps way beneath the text so I can't see what I'm putting in :/

This gets my vote for the best version of the 'robot' dance I have seen.
Holy shit :lol

I always use the secondapps link to browse gaf and never have any problems.

So, the Asus Transformer is "out" today in the UK. However, it looks like people are having serious trouble finding stock in stores. Apparently, only the non-bundle (tablet-only) version is available, and Comet has dedicated most of its shipment to fulfilling online orders.

Seems Paul, of Modaco fame, is getting one, which bolds well for the hacking community's support.

Alright - just got my Motorola Atrix last night and this thing is FAST. Pretty happy with it so far, getting close to half a meg/second downloads on HSPA+ as well. I need to backtrack in this thread to catch up, but are there any tips for getting started with an Android phone for a newbie? For what it's worth, I plan on doing some Android development as well. Can I root this thing yet?

Check xda-developers.com to be up to speed on latest root method. The last Atrix update closed the "hole" that was used for root, not sure whether your phone comes with the update or not.

Apart from that, uninstall all AT&T Bloatware. If you don't like MotoBlur get a new launcher (I currently use Go Launcher).

jesus the SGS2 looks shitty.
why can't Samsung produce a cellphone which doesn't look and feel like a cheap piece of tacked together plastic garbage.
makes me wonder why they even bother using gorilla-glass for it's display

I wish more phones used metal in their designs my atrix feels like a toy but my sisters inspire feels high end.

Yeah, it's going to be hard for me to leave the Inspire once I lock onto a new phone since the aluminum unibody construction makes the phone feel amazing.

Ah yes I used that all the time on the ipod touch but regular site gets my preference on the Android. It's easy enough to navigate

I'll try out some other browsers and see if the effect is still there

According to Boy Genuis Report Moto has sold 100,000 in the first two months.

Its OK, not very impressive. I think it just show that Poeplw wont buy a non-iPad if the price is the same as the iPads. HP should take note.

Wonder how well the Eee Pad will do at $100 less than the base iPad model.

i'd also be willing to be the large majority of ipad sales are the 16gb ipad at 499, which moto doesnt have an option. I think the leap of " I think it just show that Poeplw wont buy a non-iPad if the price is the same as the iPads." is a little strong when there isn't something at the same entry price point. Even the 599 version required a 2 year contract until what, 2 weeks ago when the wifi only model came out.

Amazon sent me a notification to call sprint about an error with their network that hurts amazon cloud player.

HA HA, hmmmm pretty sure you are in the minority here. I think it looks amazing, as do most in here judging from the responses.

I just don't get the one button, I understand Sony can get away with 3 buttons as a long press on one of them accounts for the missing fourth button... but how does the SGS2 work w/ one button?

There are capacitive buttons on either side, same as the current sgs no?

It has one soft button on each side of that big ass one.

You can barely see them. I'm sure they will glow when the screen is active.

Edit:

Beaten like a $10.00 whore.

I agree, the S2 looks generic, bland, boring. All in the name of thinness. Just like that iPhone4.
Samsung is obsessed with Apple. They copied the Apple launcher. They even cancelled the original 10 inch Galaxy Tab and redid one thats thinner than the iPad2.

No, the Galaxy S 2 looks like absolute shit.

Personally I love the look of the GS2. Incredible thinness, very sparse design out front, great screen, and minimal bezel. I do wish it had a search button, though. That's a trend I don't like to see because it's quite useful to keep it there.

Well I guess I'm wrong on the NeoGAF consensus, but honestly I think you guys have your heads up your ass if you think that phone looks ugly.

Looks way better than any of the Galaxy 1 models IMO.

Thanks man!

No AT&T bloatware thankfully (I'm in Canada). Still figuring things out on this bad boy, can't wait to finally get heavy into real dev now.

Held the Thunderbolt on Monday night and was able to play with it for a few hours... not gonna lie, the thing was sexy.

Two things holding me back:
1) Verizon
2) Single Core, Sense UI 2.x

I'm really hoping we get a proper Qualcomm Dual-Core on AT&T here soon since I was disappointed with the Atrix. If indeed the iPhone 5 doesn't come out this June and HTC has a decent offering, I may be back.

i think the SGS2 looks amazing ... well seriously better than the ulgy POS that was the origional device. just the fact it's slimmer now leaves less shitty plastic and more screen.

anyways .. looks like i'm gonna be waiting a few more weeks for the thing ..but it's getting bummped to 1.2 GHZ dual core ..holy shit. but where does this leave the tegra2 version we heard about ... really weird situation this one ..

Quick question here. Looking into getting my first smartphone (no data plan though), and I'm pretty sure Android is the best option. I'm only looking for a mid-range phone (I'll be buying it unlocked) and I've narrowed my choices down to two options -- based on price.

1. Samsung Galaxy Apollo (pretty sure we have the i5801 here in Canada)
and
2. LG Optimus One

I'm wondering which phone would be the better buy. I've done some comparisons, and the phones come pretty close in all of them (except firmware). Anyone have any experience with either of these two phones? Any other suggestions?

Cassette loading battery and a 16MP camera? He's reaching a little bit.

Edit: Good god, his post (#5) in the XDA thread.

I would totally pay a high price for a super premium phone.
Going into the verizon store, all the android devices feel like cheap pieces of shit compared to the competition.

God, these companies can't design a half decent phone. It's bullshit.
