I have a 5 year old (now unused) laptop which I would like to use as some sort of media server/streamer, especially to stream music/pictures/video over the air to my new SGSII. Do you folks know a cheap (or even free) and easy solution to do that?
Thanks.

I've been pricing the phone online (amazon/wirefly), and every place seems to want me to sign up for a $30/month package for 4G internet in order to checkout. I already have an unlimited web plan for $24.99/month which I'd prefer to keep. Does this mean I'm stuck ordering through TMO directly and paying more for the phone? I've never dealt with a third party phone vendor before.
zesty said:Call and ask T-Mobile about this. My guess as to what they'll tell you is that when you get the phone, you can call them to activate it and they'll make sure you get your old rate. An Amazon support person will likely tell you the same thing.

Thanks to you and everyone else for the tip - sounds like calling TMO and asking them to match is the way to go. Do I have to talk to retentions for that, or just a regular CSR?razgriz417 said:Mention the Wirefly deal too which is the G2X for $100 and they maybe able to match it. I got them to match the Amazon deal buy giving me $100 credit to my bill. I also got to keep the preferred Android plan for 19.99

Also, I saw in the fine print for tmobile's $50 rebate for the G2X that a $30 or higher data plan is required. Are you still getting the $50 rebate with your data plan?

Very cool.

I was reading the impressions of the Galaxy S 2 by dejay and saw "LauncherPro" mentioned. I Googled but there was no official description of what it is on the site and on the marketplace the description is just a changelog. What is it exactly?
edit: gave it a go and it seems pretty cool. much nicer looking than default droid, even with the extra screens HTC Sense gives you.
Yes, that was the standard plan that launched with the MyTouch 3G two years ago, which I'm still rocking. Apparently lots of people have had success with retentions in getting a $19.99 preferred android plan, but I was shot down when I tried.Copernicus said:Call and say "cancellations" or "loyalty", they're the ones that usually bend over backwards.
The $25 dollar unlimited internet, is it an android plan?
Yeah I had a dig around the preferences for it and saw that. That's fantastic. The only thing that annoys me is me occasionally using a feature that isn't available in the free version and it pops up with an error. But that's fine for getting a better experience.zesty said:You can configure Launcher Pro to provide up to seven home screens.
Was just coming here to see if anyone tried it, using go launcher but looks like from your post you can pair it with other launchers, so ill probably give it a dlBboy AJ said:The Wave Launcher free on Amazon today is pretty cool. I changed it to swipe from left since LauncherPro uses bottom gestures.

razgriz417 said:That's a bit of a bummer for the preferred android plan, I switched over from a blackberry with preferred internet so maybe that's why I didn't have trouble? As for the $50 rebate, no I didn't have to do it. I ended up paying $250 for the phone and the credited $100 to my bill the next day. Wish the wirefly deal was around when I ordered, I had them pricematch Amazon's $150 at the time.
The only downside to buying a phone over the phone and not in a store is that exchanges can be a bit of a pain

I was going to pull the trigger too, but now I am going to wait a bit and see.
