this should help the battery life on those upcoming sammy phones with 720p screens:

Samsung introduced the latest fruits of their labor in the form of a new Exynos System-on-chip (SOC) mobile processor built using a new 32nm process that is 30% more power efficient.

Shame we don't get more of these phones outside of Japan.

So who do I give my money to now if I don't want to give microsoft any money?

Motorola/Google, ASUS, Sharp?

A qHD screen with a resolution of 1280x720, eh?

That's pretty unique.

Nexus Prime announcement in two weeks, confirmed.

I can't wait. 4.65" screen sounds like the sweet spot for me.

That Sharp is a damn sexy beast. I remember my old Sharp GX20; the screen (240*320) was awesome for its time.

Will Google send him a new phone?
This was a second phone, he just has to drop it off at hr today. They need to find a better employee to leak it since this one sucked at making videos

-_-

I'd get in touch with Google, if it was me, he'll probably get something just because of the good pr it would create.

Samsung introduces new Exynos SOC:

Following the successful Samsung Exynos 4210 chip that powers the Galaxy S II, the Korean manufacturer has just unveiled the follow-up SoC, the dual-core Exynos 4212.

It's a dual core ARM Cortex-A9 processor designed with 32nm High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) low-power process. It will clock at 1.5GHz but will still be 30% more power efficient over the previous process generation SoC. Additionally, the Exynos 4212 packs a brand new GPU that is advertised to deliver 50% higher 3D graphics performance over the previous model. While the SoC will be sampled to select customers in Q4 2011, it is rumored to be featured in the Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus that will be hopefully revealed on October 11.

Snapdragon still isn't using ARM Cortex-A9, at this point Qualcomm is going to find it hard to get design wins on the top shelf smartphones with only an A8 core.
Snapdragon uses a Scorpion core. They've never licensed ARM IP for their Cortex chips. They only license the ARM specification.

Something tells me they are happy supplying chipsets that will go toward the 90% of the world market that's shifting from feature phones to entry level smartphones.

That's entirely irrelevant to what we are talking about, which is the Nexus/Droid Prime.

They're in the "tock" portion of the tick tock chip cycle. It's wholly relevant.

Japanese carrier Softbank has revealed its latest line-up of Android smartphones, and if you love high-res screens and megapixel-packed cameras then it’s enough to make you weep. Among the gems are the Sharp AQUOS 104SH, which Softbank says will launch running Ice Cream Sandwich on a 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP4460 processor, paired with a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 display, 12.1-megapixel camera and IPX5/IPX7 ruggedness, expected to arrive in spring 2012.

It's on the docket, it should be up on Oct 11th, by 12:30 AM pacific time.
why not make it now and update the OP when you can? it's a bit ridiculous that there have been two 1000 post+ threads about the iPhone 5 and Android can't even manage one software thread
I jest :P

This phone looks really sexy. But I thought on-screen buttons were mandatory for ICS?
Eh I'm a bigger fan of AMOLED. Since Samsung and LG are the only manufacturers that bother with it, its always where my money goes. I don't give a fuck about Super LCD or whatever new LCD panel is coming out. Dat blackz on OLED.

not mandatory, optional. Although i think on screen buttons are going to be the only way you can get a reasonably sized phone with a >4.5" screen on it

as a follow up. My xoom upgrade package is on its way. For the BOHICA regarding the LTE upgrade we get.... drumroll.... a dekstop dock.

I'm trying hard to figure out if its worth it to buy the Nexus full price and keep going month to month or get another contract.

I just had this big reply typed up and then my Droids browser crashed. THEN the activity monitor crashed.

Excited to see the software thread, last one didn't go over very well. Can someone link me to this ICS video? I've been rlybsyltly.

SKYPE VIDEO CALLING WORKS ON THE TRANSFORMER NOW!!!

Finally they decided to make it work on tegra2 chips I guess. Pretty happy now! My tablet has everything I wanted on it!

if this wasn't already posted, and you believe the poem's, here's more..

For those that said that red shall never join the the fold, Just wait a little longer and you will be able to hold.

Though we expect red to always be, screwing with a device and not let it free

But this time it's new, and all is different, because its coming in its original iteration

When you see it dont forget, desert sometimes is the best meal yet.

Almost wish I had held on the Transformer. Xoom looks a lot better.

I've really liked my Xoom. I got it during launch week, and the hiccups in the software have been severely overblown. Yeah, it has come crashes once in a while, but overall Honeycomb is great and the Xoom hardware feels real nice. The only real gripe I have about the Xoom is the volume buttons are kinda stiff and I would have preferred a rocker to two separate buttons.

I don't get the huge fuss with crashing on android in general. My last iPod touch just stopped working last summer. Before that, it would force close things often. For graphics intensive games, they would only be able to open once, or I would have to reboot it to get it to launch again.

Anyway, xoom also has one of those ugly/strong otterbox cases, while transformer does not.

So does GB not allow apps to toggle data? Llama and switchpro stopped toggling data after updating to GB.

I thought that was always the case?

But yea, apps don't have access to the data toggle.

Whoa whoa whoa wait a minute, that guy swiped to the unlock button and then unlock button turned into the icon of the app last running?

Oh wait, it was the camera button all along. Ok well thats fun, swipe to camera is a great feature.

I hope that video is fake.

I hope it's not. Sogood.gif.

Maybe I'm just not familiar with Honeycomb, in a bad mood, and not very attentive.. but it from that blurry 2 minute video it didn't look like the upgrade my imagination has been compiling for itself over the last year.

Oh come on, I know that. I wasn't even looking for super features.. it just looked wonky and ugly. What was going on with that settings menu? That really did look like a semi awful skin. They're going back to the ugly electro80s font from 2.0? Really? I know its a questionably legit crappy video, so I'll wait until the announcement to reserve judgement.

Good advice to live by, my friend.
