I have and prefer the Xbox One (having played both system's games) but I found this pretty jarring.
This is a photo of the stockroom at GAME Belfast at 11.38am GMT this morning:

There are like 70-80 PS4's in that picture vs around 20 Xbox Ones.

Roll on to around 6.50pm GMT today:

Wow.

I'll add that they were letting anyone regardless of their preorder 'phase' pick up a console today.

Does anyone else find that pretty surprising? In the same amount of time, they were able to sell out of their PS4 stock but couldn't shift their Xbox One allocation (which is around a quarter of the PS4 allocation)

I think that Microsoft and Sony is going to sell almost the same in US and UK, with a slightly edge to Sony, but in Europe there is no question. Sony is going to dominate.

I'm more surprised they actually got that amount of PS4s. Damn Sony I would love to know your production capabilities.

The only real anecdotal evidence that's interesting to see are the ones from the US and UK since that's where Microsoft's strongest territories were for the 360. It shouldn't be too surprising that other parts of Europe don't care too much about the Xbox One.

There goes the "MS ships more consoles hence the longer time to sell out excuse"
:P
Jk, but I believe Sony ships most of their units to Gaming specific stores due to the longer queues over there

More anectodal stuff: My friend who works at Gamestop says that they got about 60 PS4s and 40 Xbox Ones at launch, the PS4s were sold out on launch day but they still have a couple of Xbox Ones as of 2 days ago.

@OP: Shipments=!amount sold

As for my "anecdotal evidence," I've yet to see PS4s in stock except the morning I walked into Target to retrieve one. I've seen Xbox Ones at Walmart, Best Buy, and Target available since launch.

I was at Best Buy picking up my television. The guy ringing up my order mentioned that they had received a dozen PS4s in earlier that morning, made an in-store announcement over the PA and they were gone in minutes.

The #thirst is real.

Stopped reading at "anecdotal evidence"...
So you admit to not reading the OP and still responded anyways?

This makes me want to sneak in and make false announcements that PS4s are in stock at my local stores for fun.

Belfast is UK

On a related note I was at Gamestop about 1 AM on Black Friday and when I went to check out I asked the guys up front how their Xbox One/PS4 sales went that night. They said they had more PS4 stock and it was already sold out. By the time I left there were still plenty of Xbox Ones available for people waiting in line.

It's going to be nice being on the winning team this go round.

I'm sure you're kidding, but ugh. People saying stuff like this makes me think I'm on gamefaqs sometimes. I hope more people buy consoles than ever before and we get lots of new gamers and bring lots of new talent / ideas into the industry.

I love you.

That's actually decent anecdotal evidence, OP. Sony is doing really well with the lower price point and marketing with PS4.

Somebody aught to tell Belfast that it's not in the UK anymore, be warned though, who you tell has a large factor on their reaction and your survival chances, and doing so immediately brings about the very real possibility of civil war :P

(As I recall from my tours to Belfast, always check the colour of the curbs :P)
