Angry Birds is the only fun game on android.

I don't really play any games on my Android phone. Couldn't get into Game Dev and Plants vs Zombies isn't very good in any form.

Then again, I don't think iOS is much better. That Jubeat is a neat port, but only because I can't play the real thing.

I have more than 30 games on android, and like all of them. Either you have a veeery restricted taste, which is really sad for you, or you didn't even try another games.

You won't regret it! If you like that one check out Mega Mall Story, too. Game Dev Story theme might be more...well...gamery, but MMS is the better game imho
MMS isn't out on android yet, i think.

Baseball Superstars is addicting and fun

I have since deleted it from my phone due to addiction problems, but it was a good time.

Awful, thumb-cramping experience. A twin-stick shooter could work really well with touch-controls. Just not the way AoZ sets it up. Granted, I never took the time to see if there's a way to change the control method--is there?

I really wanted to like the game, but just couldn't due to hand-cramping. I had the same problem with GunBros.

Angry birds is fun? lol It's more like an evil farmville like addiction that never caught on with me.
how.

Angry Birds is fun. Deal with it. It isn't an addiction based game like Farmville, it's just really fun to play with the physics and win.

The backlash on Angry Birds is the shittiest backlash ever. The game is just simple fun. The only reason I can think of to not like it is if you're one of those idiots who starts to like things less as they become more popular.

Can you seriously not understand how someone wouldn't want to spend time playing Angry Birds? How someone could consider it worse than other games? How someone wouldn't want to prioritize it over any of their other games?

Angry Birds is pretty rubbish, but there's not too much entertaining out on Android, either... YooNinja is OK and fun to kill 2 minutes with... and Game Dev Story is pretty freaking addicting (but has limited replay value).

Cordy is actually quite fun.

Edit: Not a troll. Mobile-gaming still doesn't compare to handheld gaming. The DS, 3DS, PSP and Vita (soon) will offer experiences that outclass anything on any phone. Sorry, but it's true.

Mobile Gaming also doesn't cost 30+ dollars a pop.

For anyone with a hardware keyboard, ConnectBot is a must-have. It lets you play Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup over SSH — Great game if you don't mind a little ASCII! If you do have a problem with ASCII, you can still get your Roguelike fix with the feature-complete port of NetHack in the Market that also includes a basic tileset.

Yeah, that new Nethack port is pretty cool. I forgot about that one, I boot it up on the rare occasion I'm waiting around.

I'm not saying either of those things. Angry Birds is just a really petty thing to backlash on. There's nothing wrong with the game and most people who play it love it. It's a fun little game. I don't see what's not to like.

It's just something to play while you're sitting around waiting on something.

I'm not really counting the solitaires and what have you's. basically the games made ground up for them, and I admit I haven't tried some of the pay to play ones (game Dev Story, etc.) I have gotten a lot through the amazon app store. What I've got on my phone right now is.

A Game with Balls (AGWB)
Angry Birds Trilogy
Konas Crate
Football
Doodle Fit
Contract Killer
ZDefense
101-in-1 Games(really sucks, lol)
Gem Spinner
Frogger
Fruit Ninja Free
Swamp Defense now
Pocket Tanks
Peggle(good, but i already beat on PC a long long time ago)
Big Sports Fishing 3D
PBA Bowling 2
Pocket Ants
aTilt 3D Labyrinth

So give em something free to try because i don't feel like paying right now for anything. (I just DL whatever amazon puts up for free).

EDIT: I'd rather not buy a 0.99 cent game and save up for a 40 dollar portable game I know I'll love...Ys: The Oath in Felghana for example (I made an LTTP thread not long ago).

Don't quote pictures. At least take that much time in your post. :)

Mighty Flip Champs, Shantae, Cave Story, Dragon Quest Wars, Aura-Aura Climber, Art-Style games are all better than anything I've played on either IOS or Android and all cost anywhere from 2-10 dollars.

Better experiences from either a DD or Retail standpoint.

I have limited experience with smart phones and tablets, but all the games I have tried on them have sucked. I don't know why people act like they are a real alternative to portable gaming for people who play real portable games. Just my opinion, keep your Apple/Droid love at bay, please.

All mobile gaming is terrible.
What makes you say that? From such a statement, I'd gather you have very little real experience with the best mobile games. There are some legitimately great titles out there.

Most games are about playing with "physics" though. Angry Birds has rather terrible physics which actually take away from the game's goal, despite the love of seeing blocks fall over all humans possess.

I'm not upset at people enjoying it or anything, if that's what you mean by "backlashing on" something. But, I wouldn't put Angry Birds above my other games. I would never choose to play it if I had just about any other options, and there have been times where it was the only option yet I still didn't feel like playing it. This makes it a bad game.

Just curious, what are some of your favorites? I haven't found anything I could see myself playing on Android or iOS, but I'm curious to hear what I might be missing.

It's not that Game Dev Story is the best game for the platform... it's just that Simulation/Game Co. is the only combination that's above C in popularity at the moment. And mobile developers are constantly getting blackouts and can't affort booths with babes or stars at Gamedex.

please don't start a thread starting an opinion as a fact.

Huh? This is NeoGAF, dude. Happens constantly.

Did the OP try Peggle or Plants vs. Zombies?

I know Gameloft gets a lot of shit on here but the Android versions of Dungeon Hunter, Let's Golf, etc. are all well done and they are one of the very few Android devs who are making dedicated handheld-style games for the device. You usually have to buy directly from their site but they have 99cent sales often.

JayisGames often does reviews of mobile games (It's called Mobile Monday). It's a good way to mine through and find some gems.

Mobile gaming is not unlike all other platforms. 90% is not worth your time and 10% is great. You just have to do the homework.

I'm not much of a smartphone gamer. Mainly because I never want to run out of charge.

Just out of curiosity does most smartphone gamers carry around a charger to keep their phones from dying?

I've played a little bit of angry birds, cordy and mostly plants vs zombies (very addicting) but its usually at home and once I get the "low battery" prompt I stop and plug in and usually don't return to the game for weeks lol

Was perfect for me. I love how the controls move to where you place your thumbs

I have a Pre, so I don't have a whole lot of options. My favorites are the helicopter game and Angry Birds, but that doesn't say much. However, I do really enjoy both of them.

The backlash comments aren't directed at individuals so much as movements, or tides, or something. For some reason after all of the love that Angry Birds got on release, and all the success it got, it's like peoples' feelings get exaggerated because of expectation and some need to compensate, like one of those people who gives things 1 ratings on IMDB because it got a bunch of 10s.

I feel like it comes from that impulse. It seems likely that that's just a part of human nature, so I shouldn't be surprised, but it's a small cheap game meant as a diversion. It feels petty. The game had no great ambitions.

I don't know if they are available on the Android Market, but on the iPhone, Plants vs Zombies and Death Rally are my favorites. Really addicting and entertaining.

I've had an iPhone 4 for for a while, and a Touch before that. I've tried lots and lots of demos, nothing has been fun for more than about 15 minutes. The games that are well designed for touchscreen controls are disposable (Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, etc.) and the games made for tradition d-pad controls are unplayable due to control issues (Zenonia for example).

I wonder when the "mobile gaming sucks period" generalization will start to fade like it happened with portables. It's annoying seeing these threads always getting the same kind of posts from people who aren't really interested.

I got an iPhone 4 because of the massive quantities of exclusives that exist and keep being announced for iOS (both game and other apps-wise, and it's something that certainly won't change anytime soon because of the problems that come with Android fragmentation) but I don't know, even if the difference is huge I thought the Android had enough good/decent games too during my time with it. Ymmv obviously.
