Angry Joe - Top 10 WORST Games of 2014!

I think he also does a "Top 10 Most Disappointing Games" list. I would expect to see Destiny, Unity, and some other AAA games on that list.
His complaint is that by their 3rd game they should've improved on past concepts and mistakes. They are treading water and all the shit you could forgive them for in their 1st game and possibly in their 2nd if you are generous shouldn't be ignored in their 3rd iteration.
In the case of Risen I suggest people ask themselves if the combat system is seriously flawed. I still have a hard time believing that blocking required an experience grind to unlock. That's amazingly atrocious if that is true.
I'm not that masochistic but I'm tempted as well.
Overall I like this list because the reasons most of these games are listed are almost objectively bad.
Dungeon Keeper is the worst kind of whale hunting game seen. They don't even try to be subtle considering the screen shots that were posted. The devs were clearly rubbing the time sink mechanics into their potential customers' faces.
The Slaughtering House is the rare example of a dev going out of their way to harm the virtual presence of people they don't like with the Steam and youtube bannings.
Get the fuck out of here with that.

What REALLY pissed me off was that there was an EA employee on one of the Giantbomb livestreams at E3 or some other event after that game had come out and was trying to defend it.
The GB crew was too friendly with the guy to really argue with him much and probably didn't want to start any shit, but the guy was saying some really BS stuff. I think he was saying how unfair it was that everyone was piling on them for it, and how a ton of other popular games do that stuff too and you should cut EA some slack since their still learning what works and what doesn't.

EA guy was not wrong. There are plenty of other games that do the exact same thing. In The Simpsons Tapped Out you can pay to rush construction with donuts that are sold in the exact same way as the Gems in DK. In Clash of Clans you can rush production using Gems. There are probably 100s of these games that do the EXACT same thing. None of them are hiding the fact that they do this yet I didn't see The Simpsons Tapped out on any worst game of the year lists. The only reason this particular game has gotten any sort of negative traction is that it is called Dungeon Keeper. I dont even think it is an EA thing since Tapped Out is an EA game as well. Having played these games I have mentioned in this post I feel DK is actually a lot more fair about not spending any money compared to something like Clash of Clans and once you get your dungeon set up its a pretty solid take on a tower defense game. These games are 10 minute a day time wasters. If someone wants to waste money to not have to wait that is their problem.
Agreed. I'm playing through Risen 3 right now, and I love it. Some people just can't get past the Piranha Bytes jank. It's no Gothic II, but for PB fans, Risen 3 is still pretty good, and better than Risen 2.

Well Joe didn't utterly execrate it.
He just felt it was a massive disappointment. like most of the GAF frequenters.
Disappointing and "worst" are two different things with a very clear line between them.
Hell, I thought the game was lackluster, but I wouldn't call it so abject as to be worst of the year.

I actually kind of liked the Amazing Spider-Man 2 game. Sure there are better Spidey games (shattered dimensions) but I didn't find ASM 2 to be that bad.
It didn't wow me in any way if I'm honest but it didn't make me want to quit in disgust or anything like that.

it is weird to not see an AAA title but a bunch of average games maybe Rambo and the amazing Spiderman 2 could be counted as AAA titles but I guess the AAA titles will be in that one.
In what universe would Rambo be considered a AAA title even remotely?

joe already got sick of the prior risen games, so he didnt finish 3
its funny watching him play and raging against the enemies, he kinda sucked at the game but I cant really blame him for bailing on it since he completed risen 2 I believe and said 3 is the same assets as 2 (eg same locations)

I played The Amazing Spider Man 2 on the ps4 and I enjoyed all 10 hours of it. I thought the game was a good deal because it came with two free movie passes, where I'm from that's $30 dollars.

Exactly what I thought. How is it amongst trash like those other games? That guy must really have a bone to pick.
It's not the best game of the year by any means, but it's definitely pretty good with some very cool stuff to see and fun exploration.

It`s not the appeal, but at least he is honest. If the $60 game has crappy microtransactions, you will pretty much hear it from Joe when others ignores it.

Wow, that was painful. So this guy's shtick is that he's fucking awful at games and doesn't seem to have the capacity to adapt and learn and thus shouts and cries and swears a bunch? People enjoy watching that and not in a "look at this fucking clown freak out" sense but they actually care what he has to say?
