Angry Sun files found in Super Mario Maker through data mining, other bits.

I was going to list everything I wanted added to the game, but the list was getting too big so let's just start with a baseline of I should be able to make a 1:1 recreation of SMB1, 3 and W, then go from there.

*sigh*
I'm not a big fan of these data mining findings, they spoil surprises. I can live with it, it doesn't bother me much.

Yeah. Would it have really been a big deal to simply make the title something like "Files for unused enemies found in Super Mario Maker through data mining"?

Now, let me use the Goomba's Shoe power-up in the SMW & NSMBU engine, along with using Yoshi in Super Mario Bros. & SMB3, and I'll be happy as peaches in cream.

Guys you remember the 8bit Yoshi from one of the websites a while back? I wonder if that's in there too. I think it's pretty clear that Yoshi and the Goomba Shoe were at one time playable together.

On-disc DLC, Nintendo surely is a master of that. Let's hope it'll be free at least.

Ah yes, I love unfinished sprites as on-disc content.

Use your head. This isn't what people talk about when they talk of on-disc DLC, and you're just playing stupid semantics.

I really hope there's a decent amount of DLC for this game. I love the amount of choice that's already present, but there's definitely a lot that could be added. Slopes are in high demand, as well as the unique specialty suits from 3 and the many, many enemies and the like from World. Adding magma and water tiles to land courses would also be great, but I'm not holding out hope for that, same with expanding/altering the shape of basic course templates.

I swear I remember hearing about this as well, but I can't find anything on it. I guess my memory is playing tricks on me, I probably just assumed that Yoshi would have pre-World interpretations like the enemies.

There's already "sliding" sprites in the game for every Mario but SMB1's. Considering that they didn't have a ton of extra sprites included, we know something using those (most likely slopes) are coming.

Either SMB1 will fudge the "Climbing" sprites as sliding (may look weird with some Costumes), or convert slopes to blocky stairsteps automatically, since they weren't in the original.

Just so you guys know, it's entirely possible that the Sun was just cut content. It was a classic, fondly remembered Mario enemy that almost everyone that played past World 1 of Mario 3 remembers. It makes sense that they'd at least consider putting it in the game.

A lack of a Desert Theme means that it doesn't fit in with any of the themes that got into the game, though. Plus, it was only in Mario 3; I know that Rocky Wrench, the Goomba Shoe, and Bowser Jr. were in the same boat, but they were only in 1/4 of the games. They'd've had to have made versions of the Sun for all 3 games.

Besides, the Sun was so memorable because it was so unexpected. It showed up in one level and spent the first half of the level as a peculiar stage decoration before attacking, and the second time, it was one of the "Pitch Black" levels, so it was totally out of left field when it showed up. With Mario Maker, we're just going to see it thrown into stages haphazardly.

I could see the lack of slopes for SMB being another distinction to keep it's playing style unique from the other versions. I'm sure they could've added wall-jumping/Yoshi/flying power-ups to other game modes with relative ease, but it seems pretty clear that they're deliberately kept apart.
