Damn.
Love Animal Style but haven't been to In'nOut for a while ever since the Amys drivethru opened.

Gotta get the fries well done so they're crispier and don't get soggy as quickly!!

Holy fuck these are so good. Is it better than poutine? I think so.

That looks like barf.

I'd still eat it.

In-n-out makes like two things, and half of their menu (fries) are fucking disgusting.

Animal style masks it a bit, but good lord are they by far the worst fast food fries

I went to In N Out for the first time a couple weeks ago. And not just any In N Out but like, the one, on the San Francisco wharf

It was super mediocre. Got a burger and fries. They were McDonalds tier, if that

What gives?

Unfortunately when I first went to In-N-Out, my Animal Styles looked about 20 minutes old, should have asked for freshly made ones.

I will when I go back

Animal style fried are nasty, and salty as hell.....just gimme a regular double double and well done fried ....fuck begin fancy ..

In-N-Out has the worst fries anywhere. I just get another burger or buy fries somewhere else so it's ok.

I love poutine but the problem is that there's no acidity to balance out the umami and starch of the fries, cheese and gravy.

In-N-Out spread balances everything in one fell, graceful swoop. Throw on some chiles for a force multiplier.

is it because you're not used to fresh food? maybe you can take them home, freeze them and then re-fry them a few months later. they'll taste more like mcdonalds or burger king that way!

While I love me some animal style fries (with the fries well done), carne asada fries are still the best:

Do you eat out a lot or cook at home at all?

Both I and my family make homemade hamburgers from fresh ground beef with some regularity, and I also eat fast food burgers with some regularity. I would rank In N Out right in the middle of the pack when it comes to fast food burgers. It made the whole In N Out/Five Guys rivalry seem ridiculous; I don't even like Five Guys that much and I still thought it was far superior

In-N-Out provide good burgers for their price point and consistently decent quality. They're not mindblowing, just (more often than not) really good simple burgers. Even guys like Anthony Bourdain, Thomas Keller, and Gordon Ramsey swear by them (and Ramsey and Bourdain don't usually care for chain stuff). Maybe you just got a badly prepared one.

In-N-Out fries are pretty good but animal style fries are just ok because their use of cheese slices doesn't work as well the way shredded cheese or cheese sauce would. I'd rather just dip my fries in the shake. For loaded fries in LA there are poutine places or Fat Sal's

In-N-Out tends to be consistent in service + ambiance. The customer can see the whole operation + work flow behind the cashier.

Burgers usually turn out as expected compared to the big chains. Prices are very fair.

Yeah the meat is thin (definitely not a restaurant burger), and the fries are cut fresh. I can order something and not worry about food poisoning.

Maybe. I guess I was just surprised that it was okay. Like, I would have genuinely called mine Burger King tier. And I like Burger King okay. But this chain was talked up quite a bit

Eh, it was fine

In-n-out fries are good for 30 seconds and then go down hill fast. When you get them to go they always put napkins over them and they just steam and go limp in no time. I like that they are cutting them fresh but the need to fry then differently or something.

I've never tried animal style cause thousand island dressing is nasty. I get the burgers with ketchup and mustard to stay away from that crap.

If there is one thing I learned was that all fast food in America is overhyped. I tried every fast food joint in LA and it was all mediocre, wasnt bad but wasnt good either. Shake shack is the only one that is decent quality

I live on the east coast and have honestly thought about taking a trip across the country just to try this goddamn fast food.

Closest thing to In-N-Out is the California Classic Double Burger from Carls Jr/Hardees. But the beef is gross and nowhere near the same.

As for the fries I'll go: Carne Asada Fries >>>Animal Style Fries. Never had Poutine.

I never really like the Animal Style fries so I just get them with cheese on top. It's delicious but if you don't eat it quick then it blows

they are great

but it has nothing to do with the fries
for as good as in-n-out burgers are, they have the worst tier fries. they're just fucking cardboard garbage, somehow worse than mcD's/BK/Wendy's. I don't understand it. Maybe because they're fresh?

The spread and the onions make it for me, is always best to ask for extra spread because sometimes is just not enough.
