Anime art style games with no sexualized characters?

Considering the width and depth of 'things portions of humanity are sexually attracted to', this topic seems a bit pointless

There's people attracted to roller coasters. For them, Roller Coaster Tycoon is interactive porn.

There's no objective sexiness threshold that once crossed turns a character or a game into pandering fetish fuel.

Really, one of the few games that is downright sexualized is Agarest wars, and its a 13+ game. Most anime game dont try to go overboard with the sexuality.

It's a Japanese game.

The character design is by one of the most talented manga artist in Japan, Takehiko Inoue. Also note that he wasn't responsible for the main characters costumes.

Does Wakfu count as Anime? It was made in France. Anime is a style, not a country.

I bought that game. It game with a boob-mouse pad and a pillow case.

For me awful art is poor anatomy, bad lighting, nonsensical spacial logic (unless it's intentional), lack of tangible skill (modern art), garish color choices (JoJo notwithstanding) etc.

Kubo is bad at a lot of things, storytelling, creativity, pacing, panel usage, consistency, variety, etc. A bad artist he is not.

Sooo....are you saying that modern art is awful? Because that's what it sounds like you're saying. I'm gonna have a problem if that's what you're saying.

No, it's a french cartoon. Just like Teen Titans and all the other cartoons that try to imitate the "anime" style. I consider anime a combination of style+country. If the show is primarily produced in Japan (might have animation outsourced but the designs and keyframes are done by the japanese studio) I consider it anime

I honestly am forcing myself to watch Wakfu because of the artstyle. Sogood.

I was gonna post Ghost Trick, but then I remembered that Dogs and Cats are naked and the most clothing they have on are collars. Someone on neogaf would be turned on so that disqualifies it sadly. I was gonna say Cave Story but Mimigas don't wear pants.

If you think Tifa wasn't meant for the raging hormones of teenage boys, then I can only assume you weren't there at the time of FFVII's release. Just her vistory pose is enough to make the hormonal teens drool.

Only reason why I even want an HD remake of FFVII.

Duodecim has it right too. They could just HD it up.

Well, to be fair, not a lot of manga/comic (american ones included) are free of guilt from 'poor anatomy' criteria.

Yep, and I'm very selective with my manga and comics I don't read at all, except for classics like Sandman and League of Extraordinary Gentleman.

I also dislike tracing so that's a mark against superhero comics.

I should mention that by "poor anatomy" I don't mean realistic proportions. For example, I'm fine with CLAMP's noodle people even if noodle people are noodle. I go with my gut feeling when trying to decide if some character looks acceptable or belongs in the uncanny valley.

What about... rotoscoping in animation

I'm not getting into this with you here pizzaroll ;3

(I dislike the idea of it in general although I don't doubt it can be used to good effect.)

The English Sega CD version of the game actually deleted or censored a few scenes with that blue haired girl in the above screenshots. She was actually 14 in the Japanese originals (18 in the English version) and they deleted pedo-ish scenes like this from the game. You could also sniff her underwear in the Japanese version. That scene was completely removed from the English localization.

I've been wanting to understand the fuss about this game for a few years now.

Now it's a must play.

What does "sexualized characters" even mean?

Seriously. No matter how hard they try, if somebody draws a female character, somebody's gonna whack off to it.

And no videogame publisher is in any rush to make a kick-ass, breakneck-paced, sword-swinging action game with somebody like Melissa McCarthy or Rebel Wilson or Gabourey Sidibe as the hero (and as much as we all try to preach the gospel of balanced representation, nobody's asking for that videogame either...)

You're not going to take the "sex" out of sexual identity, and you kind of shouldn't want to, as much as it's good to push for better representation of ladies in this entertainment/artform the answer is not to be puritan prudes and remove sexual interests entirely as if videogames are made for robots.

in conclusion, enjoy your sexuality and stop being weirdos, you can't take sexuality out of a human being... be it real or a drawing, because we're sexual by nature.

now enjoy some delicious brown dancer

So we came from trying to find non sexualized characters into accepting our own sexuality :b

I like how this thread turns from trying to look for non-sexualized characters to people posting kids in bikinis.

he has a big nose, that's my fetish, he's sexualized

I always disliked how when Tetra changed to Zelda she became useless

You are deliberately missing the point. Whether a character is sexualized or not is 100% reliant on developer intent. And we can quite safely say his nose wasn't designed because they wanted to give a boner to people with a nose fetish.
