I... what?nib95 said:I would have said no but the first costume attire is dubious. What is the girls role in the game?

K-on isn't a comedy. The emotional reaction it's going for is moe rather than humor. The only thing the two have in common is some elements of mono no aware.Mortrialus said:I wouldn't. The thing about comedies is that they are supposed to have humor.

It wasn't primary, but they definitely played it up in a couple of episodes and especially the ending.flawfuls said:I don't think Azumanga had much of a mono no aware aspect. Yotsubato does though.
Mortrialus said:I was recommended K-On on the bases that it was a funny Azumanga Diaoh style high school comedy about a music club. If the show was less about being "Cute" for the purposes of selling $150 dollar statues of the characters and more about, I don't know, being funny or actually being based around music I wouldn't have the burning hatred of it that I do now.
Hahaha. If they put people into a database for something that tame I don't think they'd be able to buy hard drives fast enough to keep an accurate log.tedtropy said:Great, now I'm on some sort of database...
Nah, only nerds know what it actually means.survivor said:Should I be ashamed that I watch anime and have no idea what mono no aware is?
This is always the right decision.Dresden said:I blame Evangelion.
What the fuck are you talking about. K-On is Comedy. Period. Hell, it's just a different brand of sitcom. The comedy derives from their archetypical personalities experiencing normal high school rock band situations. It's especially amusing to me since I can relate alot of the gags to my experiences in a high school rock band.Branduil said:K-on isn't a comedy. But then, it appears that this thread has gotten off the topic, and now the main people contributing are from the usual anime thread. Anime-GAF unite!![]()

It's not a comedy because laughter is not its primary goal. Its main goal is to create a warm, fuzzy feeling of moe affection and nostalgia.doomed1 said:What the fuck are you talking about. Mortrialus said:I can't specifically judge the Rin character mentioned as I haven't seen or read Usagi Drop, however I very much do consider my analysis to be correct in regards to, say, K-On, a show I very much loath. Everything about that show strikes me as coldly calculated to pander to that specific segment of otakudom, especially the characters. The characters aren't even characters in the traditional sense. They're all designed to be as fetishy as possible. Especially the vulnerable one and the vulnerable one mark II. When you break things down, you have a harem without a main character and an ecchi that operates on Freudian psychology and created innocence instead of panty shots.

Well it is an actual literary term. We just mostly use it to bust Firehawk's balls.flawfuls said:It's more of an anime GAF word than anything.
Yeah apparently Norwegian Wood is mono no aware or something.Hellsing321 said:Well it is an actual literary term. We just mostly use it to bust Firehawk's balls.
Unknown Soldier said:Your love of Freudian analysis of moe is appropriate considering that most of Freud's theories were built on fraud. Well, one of the Freud's theories was that all boys go through a phase of their lives where they want to fuck their mothers. So, since you seem to be an expert on Freud's theories, you tell me. You ever wanted to fuck your mother?

It's not feedback, but that pop you get when you take the instrument cable out without turning your amp volume down can blow out a speaker. I've seen it done. Not pretty. It's also obnoxious. Really, the only mildly infuriating part of the show is that I'm not sure the Mustang parts were recorded on a mustang (or at the least it's on the most boring vanilla pickup settings) and that these girls' parents must be ridiculously rich to afford to get them half the crap they own.Mortrialus said:Really? As a musician, I find it infuriating how many aspects of music it gets wrong. Feed back when unplugging the guitar is one, and strings rusting after a few months is another.
No, I'm pretty sure comedy is the goal, because you know, it's from a GAG COMIC. Just because it's not funny to you don't make it unfunny to others.Branduil said:It's not a comedy because laughter is not its primary goal. These two terms are not mutually exclusive...EmmanuelMunoz said:K-On is 90% Moe 10% comedy
