if i were to go on sunday, what would the lines be like? also, it sounds like there's also a line to get in even if you bought tickets ahead of time?
 
Nigiris was great! They ended with a new mix of Sakura (e7 op4) and then encores with a new song. The soundstage and general setup of club nokia was nice.

I ran into a fellow star driver! :)
Also someone asked to take my photo and suddenly I realized I need to think of a pose asappp

If anyone from gaf is here, come down to the dance at club nokia (3f by staples) and look up the takuto guy. We can get some drinks and socialize for a few hours tonight.

I think I'm bailing on this con. I had a night for the stories where I went to one stranger's hotel at the marriot, hung out with weed smoking extremely attractive girls (1 who had a bf but was flirting like crazy regardless; 20 years old) by the pool at 2am, went to another hotel at 3am, got separated from the party and couldn't find them anymore and took a cab back at 5am.

I'm going to sleep and then probably just going to bail and drive home. That was one fucked up night and I dunno how much I care about the con anymore at this point.
 
You dont go to the cons for the panels you go for the fucked up after hours shit. =\ otakon has some dumb guests this year i miss moot being there.

How was the concert?

Today was pretty good. Went to some panel like the bandai/gundam stuff. Was great when they played the OO movie trailer and afterwards before people started to clap some guy in the back shouts MOVIE SUCKED lol. Bandai basically acknowledged that Gundam AGE is going to be a kids show and gave a "no comment, no more information" on anything Origin related.

Lots of good cosplay everywhere. Still haven't seen much Star Driver cosplaying or any 2011ish anime besides Madoka which is everywhere.

Went to the giant robot faceoff panel at night. Honestly was kind of disappointed in the roster pics. Too much stuff like Samus or Yuki from Haruhi; no enough actual GIANT ROBOTS to discuss which would win a battle. But there were a few good ones, Eva 01 vs. Gunbuster actually gives you a lot to think about. Both are basically god-tier mechs. Was fun.

Nothing too wild, just good ole' nerd fun. Still too exhausted from last night to do anything otherwise. Several hours of people handing you random unidentified drinks will do that to you. I'm kind of too old to party like I did when I was 15. Body is sore in every way imaginable.

Looking forward to the Niikawa panel tomorrow and then maybe I'll check out Mizushima as well. Probably will do a dealers room run to see if there's anything neat to buy before I head off for good tomorrow. Would stay for Monday but I gotta get back to work on Tuesday and I need a day to recover from all this before that :P
 
Niikawa was great. Biggest news is that the next srpg sounds like it (thank god) won't be another disgaea! I wonder if it's zettai hero 2 and if it is I wonder ps3/vita combo? Although I'd rather has something completely original. N1 is at it's best when they are creating from scratch.

I got in my question about why we haven't seen the vehicle or building throwing/using gameplay since phantom kingdom/makai kingdom. He basically said with that game they threw everything and the kitchen sink in and it was a total mess and huuuge pain for the staff. He even looked exhausted when talking about it. But he did say he'd be open to do something with those ideas again, just not in a Disgaea game.

I still have articles to post up from my panel coverage, yet I am still nursing my usual post-con cold.

Didn't really buy too much stuff this year, but at least I was able to enjoy the con more - despite staff being treated like shit (food situation was just deplorable).

Other than that, I enjoyed the Kalafina concert wholly, am glad I missed Miku and can finally hear out my ears after enduring Vic's fanclub for both his concert and panel (I was assigned to cover it).

Because everybody is positive, and it's about having fun. Anybody can dress as whatever they want. I saw people dressed up as TF2 characters, Family guy characters, Pirates characters, etc. I don't really see a need to limit it to anime costumes only.

Where the rest of my department was sitting, which was off to the side, the projection of Miku was usually cut so you couldn't really see her that well. So even if I had gone to the concert, I'd have had a really non-spectacular view due to how the projector was set up.

The other reason why I missed it was because I was covering the Gundam 00 English movie premiere.
 
AX was a lot of fun. First time going. I admit that we didn't do much other than walk around and shop for stuff though. Would have liked to have attended some after parties, or something but I think we were pretty much beat after the day was through. If you go in costume you can effectively expect to not get very much done as somebody will stop you every half minute for a new photo. My wife and I went as Godot and Mia Fey, respectfully. And she put some man hours into making both outfits.

Just curious, what happened to Xseed? I heard they were going to be at Anime Expo and expected an announcement or two, but never heard anything.

I think they were showing off Solatorobo, but other than that, they were mainly selling stuff at their booth. No panel as far as I'm aware, but I did get the chance to harass them about Wizardry DLC, which they said should be coming soon.

You should come icarus! I can meet you and stay like two things and freeze up a lot! It certainly is fun looking at all the costumes and hitting the exhibition hall.

EDIT: Oh god that is like 8 hours. I'd be wary of that as well.

Whoa, you two look great! That's some of the best cosplay I think I've ever seen. Good job!

Going to an anime convention looks like tons of fun. I wouldn't ever want to go alone though. lol
