Annoying concert behaviors....

I do fold my hands but that doesn't mean i'm annoyed if people dance. I like it, just nothing for me.

Also there are seated concerts, what? Never seen one of those. Outside of classical music ofcourse.

No point in standing if you are in the upper bowl of an arena or upper deck of a stadium, and some people can't stand for long periods of time

Not really annoying but downright disgusting when a person doesn't bother to help someone up when they fall down/shoved to the ground.

0.Sweaty shirt-less dude bunny-hopping right next to you.

Flipped out twice in concerts at guys like that.

#6, definitely. I like to be early to bands I love, so when someone that, as a bonus also combines all the other points on the list, starts pushing their way up to the front, I just want to do some anime explosion that just blows everyone in a 10m radius away from me. Fuck. It's normally:

1) Pushing their way to the front, not caring about anyone else
2) Yelling obsessedly at the people playing, like "OMGGGGG, I WANT TO SUCK YOUR DIICCKKKKKKKKKKKKK"
3) At the same time as they have their phones in their hands
4) Going completely batshit crazy over one song
5) Stand there and look at youtube of their favourite song the rest of the show.

Luckily, there's always someone who loves the next song, so the cycle just repeats. Completely ruined concerts for me. I'm a tall guy, so I have a good ability to just not be able to be pushed. I did end up thinking I was just standing there when the most annoying girl at the concert was jumping around pushing me. Then it turned out that that girl was probably already on stage sucking the dick of the drummer, and that it was some unlucky girl that was just being pushed around by other morons. I apologized, and she was totally understanding, because the whole concert was filled with those moron groupie girls that just know one song at the concert and doesn't get any of the rest.

It's cool that you don't know all the songs, but if you're at a Gotye-concert, and you think you're a Gotye fan that is entitled to stand ALL THE WAY AT THE FRONT because of how much you love Somebody That I Used To Know, and you haven't even heard any other song, then you can go die.

People pushing you aside if they want to pass.
I'm a pretty small guy, and its usually the people who are bigger then me that do this. Just put a hand on my shoulder or something signalling you want to pass, I'll move but dont just truck along pushing me out of my way. I can mostly brush it off trying to enjoy the concert ignoring the people, but my girlfriend cant and she can get really annoyed by it, ruining the evening.

Oh, and to add: drunk people who cant sit still. They're standing in front or beside you, in their drunken haze thinking they can "dance" like a true master, but all they do is just jump around bumping into everyone that is standing around them.... KNOCK IT OFF! I really hate alcohol sometimes -_-

And that's why I don't go to concert, even though I want to.
I just can't stand unknown people touching me.

wow really? for all the annoying things that are mentioned in this thread. I still have fun at gigs. Meet fun people, see and hear your favourite band. Worth all the hassle in my opinion.

People who try to force their way to the front (or a better place) when the place is completely full. Even more annoying when they end right in front of you and you can't see shit anymore. Happens easily since I'm a small guy, but still.

The band doesn't even play Freebird even if you scream it and you know they heard you. I've been screaming it for five years now.*

Folded Arms Guy a.k.a. "Your Having Fun is Ruining My Standing Still and Frowning" Guy (e.g. "stop singing at the concert," "stop dancing," etc.)

Meh, I mean it's fun to jump around and dance but sometimes you don't have the energy or simply just wanna listen to the music. Especially if you're the designated driver and don't wanna get elbowed in the face.

And yeesh, what concert are you guys going to where you can easily hear what others are saying?

*I really haven't

The only thing that bothers me are phones !
Are people really watching that crappy video afterwards?
Are people really carring when they call them in the middle of the show : "hey listen it's your favourite song !!!"

My ex-wife used to subject me to annual Tori Amos concerts. Interesting phenomenon these, since every girl/woman/effeminate male in attendance is, like, the world's biggest fan and Tori "just speaks to them".

Someone screams, squeals, yells "Tori I love you!" as loud as they can. Another fan, feeling threatened by this, screams, squeals, or yells louder. Over the course of a show, it degenerates until everyone that was not dragged there by their significant other has completely lost their shit and has gone full retard over that overrated hag.

Reading all this I am glad I mostly go to classical music concerts. The most annoying thing there is people coughing or sneezing during the music. They are also, apart from the music, rather boring (since it's mostly people 40 or older there) but I go there to listen to music, not to meet people, so I don't really care.

Eh, a lot of these behaviors kind of disappear as you get older and stick to smaller venues. You let the kids do what they do on the floor, and you stand by the bar drinking, oblivious to it all.

People who push.

Tall people who push.

Tall people who push small people.

People who throw drinks from the balcony.

People who sit on the floor right by your feet cause they're tired of standing and waiting (or if you're on the balcony, if there's a space underneath they sit there to get a better view)...

Don't really mind people who drink but don't be that drunk asshole who wants to start a fight in a middle of a crowd :/

Shoving and people pushing their way to the front has gotten really bad as of late. I think it's because venues are selling too many tickets.

It really is. You'll have venues where they sell more than half of what the space capacity can even hold =_=

I try to avoid large concerts. It's just one long annoying experience for me. And in most cases, the sound is horrible. Small scale concerts are better.

And that's why I don't go to concert, even though I want to.

You'll regret that mindset in the end. I hate being cramped next to strangers but if I hadn't put up with it I'd have missed a lot of fantastic experiences, Daft Punk being the main one. There we a few wankers there that night but my girlfriend and I loved it and we met a brother and sister who we really nice and had a chat. Was an absolute blast! Seriously, give it a go the next time a band you truly love comes to play and you won't regret it. If somehow you do then at least you know for sure.

I once went to a show that sounds like it would be what half of you would find to be the ultimate concert experience. It was sitting only in a theater, Godspeed You Black Emperor walked on stage, said "hi" into the mic, played about two hours worth of music exactly like it is on the album with no improvisation or solos or anything fun like that. Half the band faced away from the audience, there was absolutely no talking by the band between songs and the audience was quiet and immobile the entire time.

That was a massive waste of like $50. Could've just stayed home and listened to the album.

People who feel the need to clap the entire fucking time, 70% of the time the god forsaken clapping is out of time with the music.

Who sits at concerts??

And fuck you if you don't like smoke, i love when poeple loudly complain about smoke. Makes me try blow smoke in their direction. People need to lighten up and just enjoy concerts. Stay at home and watch that shit on youtube if it bothers you so much.

Also def agree on the smartphone bullshit.

And people who call their friends like "this is your song!!" Doesnt really bother me i guess, just seems dumb.

Wait, what kind of smoke are you talking about? Smoke from the concert that gets "blown out" of the stage; or smoke as in cigarettes?

Yeah, I kinda get if you take picture or two but recording the whole concert is just stupid. Quality is always more then awful and you can't make out most of the stuff the band is playing.

Weed/cigarettes. Shit pisses me off, why cant they just say "hey can you try not blow smoke in my face?" Id say yeah no problem and genuinely try not blow it at them.

But motherfuckers who just shout "I hate people who smoke at concerts" and that type of shit are getting smoked the fuck out.

You are a asshole. Some people can't handle smoke, people with severe asthma or other long diseases. There's clearly a non-smoking policy at concert, but there are alway some douche people who think fuck the rest, and then I've to move (even if I'm standing there way longer than that guy).

If you can't stand smartphones then maybe you should stay home and watch that shit on youtube.

I think my last gig was M83 in Barcelona.

I had this guy pushing me during half the concert. Look, buddy, you have space around you and you don't really need 3 sq meters around you to dance freely. Don't touch me again.

And he was fucking screaming his lungs out during every song.
Wait!, here comes the part with no lyrics! I will just sing to the melody screaming LALALA instead!

Fuck-head.

I dont think i explained myself properly, look at my post below that. I was talking about people who complain about smoking without actually saying it directly to the person.

Well, look at it like this, some people dont have the courage to just to straight to that person cause they just dont know how they'll respond; I know I sometimes do that because some people just look and/or act super agressive and I just dont feel like trouble that night. I've learned to cope with smoke though cause all my friends smokes during their teenage years.

The loud complaining is something my girlfriend does though, and I've noticed a lot of women do. And from confronting my girlfriend about it, it mostly is a fear thing.

Bad ass, man.

I never go to concerts anyway. They aren't enjoyable for all these reasons and more.

Mannnnn I don't get this. Get up and moooooooove.

Saw The XX last night, the whole crowd was dancing all night long. So much goddamn fun.
Dancing... to... XX? Okay you kids have fun.

There was some annoying guy at a Mötley Crüe concert last year who screamed "SLAYER" at the top of his lungs every couple of minutes throughout the whole concert.

Pushing to the front is half the fun! Sorry but I'm not going to have my concert experience ruined by people in front of me standing with their arms folded. I'm going to push past you, and squish among the people in the front that want to dance and sing with strangers and share an awesome experience.

So bad! I find the best place is around the center, maybe 2-3 people back from the front row.
Front row seems pointless as you cant move and you just get crushed for an hour+
Talking about the most mudane shit is the one that drives me crazy, there has been atleast 5 times where I have wanted to punch someone in the back-side of the head for standing around talking about X factor or some shit.

One time I was at a Denison Witmer concert and there were all these idiots talking and his songs are pretty mellow so at one point he goes "There are a lot of here people who paid money to hear me play these songs, so please go outside if you want to talk."

It was badass.

Yep. Everyone was. Jamie XX kicked fucking ass and switched up the beats a bit for pretty much every song. More suitable for a live setting.

You're a douche.

For me, the appeal of concerts comes from being immersed in the music and having no distractions around. So, everything that distracts is really annoying to me, like loud coughing and the like. I get it, sometimes you gotta cough, but try to save it for the break between pieces (or a louder part). Especially in piano recitals where the instrument is not very loud in comparison to the size of the concert hall, you can hear almost everything.

My main complaint is people who overindulge on any substance (I've been at Dave Mathews Band concerts near overly drunk people, people nodding (on heroin/opium I assume) at a Halloween Phish concert, drunk sorority girls at both Vampire Weekend and Justice (at Red Rocks none the less), and people tripping way too hard at Amon Tobin (to the point that their friends had to usher them some place else (I assume home)). Ultimately, it's not that big of a deal and doesn't ruin a concert for me. I understand that young people are prone to not knowing their limits.

But my advice is control your buzz people. It's not amateur hour, it's a concert. Save the overindulgence for your home, fraternity, sorority, or New Years Eve.

I feel bad for short people at concerts. My friend's girlfriend is maybe 5'3, and during our most recent show, her view consisted of the backs of taller guys.

Apart from whats already been mentioned, really fat people tend to annoy me because they take the space of 2-3 people. Also cigarette smokers when there are no-smoking bylaws in place where I live.

Nodding as in there heads?? or as in nodding off (asleep?) I dont really understand that one

Crowdsurfers are the fucking worst, especially at muddy outdoor concerts. I've gotten dirt on me from crowdsurfers more often than I can count.
Sometimes, if I'm fast enough, I manage to smear the mud back on them. So satisfying.

It's just an issue of respect for your fellow man. It's not hard to avoid being that guy at concerts.

Ugh, the sea of phones taking photos... What I don't get about this is that most concerts I go to have actual photographers working them, and the venue or band posts their pictures online. Which are usually decent, rather than the grainy blurry crap you get from smartphone pics in low light. So the people who do this are distracting themselves and everyone behind them, for no real reason. Hate it.
