you guys should remove your credit card info from the PSN just in case......
See, this is where the righteous fight against "The Man" becomes bullshit.

Bunch of angry nerds get pissed at Sony. Innocent bystanders like me pay for it with identity theft. Same with the Gawker thing recently. Way to fight the good fight, you stupid pricks.

How do I know that you're not someone from Anonymous posting this just to scare people?

Kusagari said:
I wouldn't be surprised if it's fake like the Westboro incident. Anonymous usually tries to look mature when issuing these press releases. The "stuck your penises" in line was absurd even for them.

It's either fake or they need to fire their scribe.

What will be next? An attack to MS when the next banhammer leave a lot of people offline? An attack to Nintendo because of the region-locking of 3DS? An attack to Capcom because of the greedy DLC?

This.

And Sony and Scientology are hardly the same thing.

Embarrassing.

EPIC. EPIC WIN. FAILZ.

I'm out of here. Anon targets WBC and you people are all for it, but my console manufacturer of choice? HOW CHILDISH.

What have you done besides sit around on an internet forum complaining about video games?

Who specifically was for the WBC thing and against this?

Yes, they're very different. One has delusional, blind followers that scoff at outsiders and defend their faith no matter what, and the other is Scientology.

That's how I feel about all of this too. Seems like some people don't see the difference between a service (and the rules you abide to when using this service) and your rights. Then they (Anon in this case) mix these things (services and their rights as a consumer) in such a way that they profit from it in some way or another. As if the consumer can dictate what a product or service is supposed to be, instead of the producer offering a certain service and the consumer can choose if or not he or she is going to use that product, in this case the PS3. But maybe I am mistaken and Sony is doing "unforgivable" things by messing with a "hornets nest".

A PS3 is a service now?

I mean, that is pretty much a significant aspect of this entire case, but just asserting it doesn't necessarily make it true :-)

You wanna fight in court now? I have EULA's and shit. What have you got?

I laughed when I saw "undivided attention"

the only thing that can have Anonymous' undivided attention is a 14-year-old girl wearing too much mascara

Let's say this, if you've been around the internet you know not to fuck with anonymous, BUT! I think Sony may just be a bite too big to swallow, this wont be like the crusade against Scientology.

Hardly. I'm no Sony fanboy and I certainly don't agree with their hacker crusade. But that doesn't mean I have to back a hopelessly immature statement and actions that might hurt me as a consumer.

its all the same, its computers, computers are hackable

Not to mention that they've hacked governments, security firms, credit card companies and other stuff that is regarded as 'well secured'. I imagine that the PlayStation blog and various Sony product sites aren't that well protected. In any case it should get this mess even more publicity if this is really from Anonymous.

Still don't know if anonymous is one of the coolest or one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. I assume it's the latter.

God, these people are so annoying. Does anyone actually give a shit about the stupid pranks they pull anymore? I don't.

What a bunch of spoiled, petulant little man-children.

These basement nerds would pee their pantaloons if they ever came across somebody face to face without the warm security of their keyboard.

Do they only use Fawkes masks because they think V for Vendetta was really super cool? Do they do he was just a tool for the Vatican?

This is most likely from the useless part of Anonymous who are all jumping on some dumb bandwagon. I think the ones who did stuff about Wikileaks have a bit of a clue but their name is constantly being dragged down by idiots. Nature of being Anonymous.

Where was it ever said they were going after people's info on PSN? A bunch of fear mongering going on in here. When it's pointed out they have actually done far more than "hack", like going after Scientology, WBC, protecting wikileaks, and supporting uprisings taking place, that's brushed aside and completely different.

Nope, most likely from that part of Anonymous as they have a Twitter and this was posted by them on their Twitter account. Don't let that stop anyone from continuing the "lolz, all your info" and "virgin hackerz that do teh nothingz".

They could hack into Grace Chen's computer every Tuseday and push that button sooner.

Come on Anonymous, that will teach them!

Well, using it is kind of using a service right? That's what I meant but like I said, I may be totally wrong here :-)
There are so much legal aspects to it that you have to be a legal genius just to know what is really happening here. I'm just a stupid consumer observing some hacker kids really screwing up my gaming experiences under the banner of "consumer rights" and what not. But if you say that, you are ignorant, you don't care about your rights, you're a hypocrite (see the examples of the Westboro Baptist Church and Scientology). Also, they don't take into account that I might get off on this strange control-dominate relationship I have with Sony :-)

The problem I find is not with their manner they go about this stuff, but their sincerity.

Seriously Anonymous go through causes like a girl goes through shoes before a night out.

And while that kind of slapdash modus operandi works for smaller fish, I remain unconvinced of their ability to do affect genuine impact to any group greater than, say, an HBGary.

Please, go protest outside a Scientology building once a month for even 3 months. Report back what Scientology attempts on you. Then come back and continue spouting this ridiculous bullshit.

Again, Anonymous vs Scientology = HOORAH FU SCIENTOLGY!!!!!!
Anonymous vs WBC = YES! GAY HATING FUCKS BURN!!!
Anonymous vs Sony = WTF?!? DAMN VIRGIN MAN-CHILDREN

I do wonder how genuine of an attempt this will be but seeing all the psychopath fantots riled up is pretty amusing in itself.

You know, GAF is made of individuals...

You must halt your voice of reason and engage in our lulz-time at the expense of these obvious basement-dwellers. It's not like we're in a forum notorious for complaining about video games.

that 14 year old girl came into good use in the HBGary incident :P

Anyways, the important things to note are that:
1. Anybody can post operations to anonnews
2. Anonymous is just a rallying banner for random people

So whether or not this goes anywhere is entirely dependent on the people who decide to get involved in it.

How are any of those things even close to what is happening with Sony?

Absolutely, I'm wondering why some individuals respond like this. I would certainly hope they aired the same complaints about Anonymous being man-children, no good hackerz that were going to get your private information when those were being done, but I know that's not what happened.

tiff said:

The statement was that all they are is man-children who would basically do nothing in a real world situation. The protests against Scientology that happened every month don't get more "real world" than that. Before someone make such ridiculous statements, I suggest they try that one out and see how "real world" they are.

Yes, promoting hate to homosexuals is the same as a company that sue a hacker.

You'd think that being a target of these exact same stereotypes some time ago, gamers would be the last people to use these insults. Guess not.

So, because anonymous fights the good fight sometimes, we have to applaud every move they make? Sorry but: no.

So, you've determined that they're not fighting a good fight against Sony? What have they done, in this instance, to make said determination? I mean, I think striking back at a company which finds itself being sued for removing a feature from a videogame console, but has the balls to say they need access to the personal computers of the people suing them is a good fight.

we are ominous and scary
we are pretentious
we are trying way too hard

hard to be god when all one has to do is snatch your cord from the outlet
