Yea, I think it's hyperbole as well (until we see examples of it). While there will be destruction (inF2 had it), the question is whether and how much of it will be "persistent" since it effectively changes level design.

The fact that next-gen racing games are getting to that point makes me really happy, even if it sounds sort of understated to most people.

Actually it does push him forward very fast! Some destruction in that video too. Bridges and structures it seem.

Pretty much, I would LOVE to see more elemental effects ( rocks, water, fire) included and being more present.

I just hope in open world games stuff stay in game a lot longer ( with I:SS, there is that one part were Delsin hits a newspaper stand and newspapers come flying out, while the effect looks awesome the newspapers disappear instantly once they reach the ground, which kinda ruins it). Hope destruction stays there, so at the end I can look over and say " yea, I did that"
 
I guess I just...I don't understand how it looks so good. It's pretty astonishing. And Sucker Punch isn't REALLY known for their tech prowess (not that they are regarded as having a lack of it) so I just feel scared and confused.
 
I'm like Ami in that I had zero interest in 1 + 2, but I'm really on board for Second Son. Much more interesting looking powers, much bigger environment, and, a city I love no less, those graphics... yeah.

I'm on board alright.

And LOL at the Forza 5 gif backfire. Screen space reflection showing the other character's name is lolsome.

Yeah I was kinda wondering how the hood of the car reflecting the street as much as it does. Sounds like a discussion for another thread though.
 
I'm a sucker for real time reflections, so this is great news. Game looks promising.

Pretty much. If my action hero is not a bald marine, he's a douche. He actually looks normal, which is refreshing.

It uses a reverse image as explained in above posts, in HD. It gets the job done though.
 
The city is ready for me to go all Neon on some fools.

Compare this to inFamous, people saying that there's no upgrade from PS360.

That is incredibly easy effect that games have been using for ages. And Turn 10 managed to do a crappy job with it, many have already noticed reflection of the HUD.

The most impressive destruction (imo) was in a gif of Delsin fire a blast at one of those black towers, but there was a banner hanging from it. When the fire blast shot through the banner and blew up the tower, the banner tattering into several independently reacting pieces. Idk why, but that really impressed me a lot. I wish i could find that gif.

yea probably thanks to the Sony ICE team. This studio was never really known for the graphics before. Sly 1, 2, 3 and Infamous 1, 2 and the Vampire add on all looked like ass technically. And now out of no where, they have blown all the Sony devs away :P

Do PS4 even need the ICE team anymore? Maybe it's just that easy for SP to make this. Though maybe Sony's ICE team are showing their first party some advance GPU tricks. Naughty Dog's game is going to be interesting to see. I mean Guerrilla Games did some impressive things on PS3 with Killzone, but SSM and ND were kings.

Ready At Dawn is the same way. They're known for PSP games and The Order looks insane. I can't wait to see what Sony's other first party studios can do on PS4.
