Fatzilla.

I'm not feeling it, he doesn't look like Godzilla I know and like.
Someone doesn't remember the Heisei Godzilla's thunder thighs.

The angle of the new Godzilla's head looks odd in that shot but he looks good from the side from all the other shots we've seen.

I actually liked those big fat legs, since you would think they'd be needed to support such a large and heavy body.

FUUUUUCK This is the most hyped I've been for a movie in so long.

HURRY UP.

G absorbs Radiation and is extremely heat resistant, and the MUTO's probably are to. read my spoiler tagged theory on page 2.

I doubt "extremely heat resistant" means being able to withstand 20,000,000 degrees of heat from the blast wave, but it's a movie so suspension of disbelief takes over.

It's your standard comic bookish way out off stopping people from asking, "why don't you just nuke him."

He absorbs any radiation. It'd only make him stronger. Very few things in the Godzilla canon have been able to hurt him. It wasn't until Gigan that he actually took physical damage.

I don't think you quite understand how a nuclear bomb works.

The radiation is a separate thing from the initial blast, which acts much like a normal charge of TNT, just a fuck load more of it.

I know how a nuclear blast works. I'm saying the stronger he gets, the more resilient he is. And there's only been a few things that have ever truly hurt him to begin with.

Damn, $100. Guess I'll have to have my own made.

Big G laughs at your science.

He gives no f**ks about nukes, cube square law, and has atomic breath to answer back.

Could this Godzilla really threaten the entire word?

Earth is a big place.

Lots of oceans, land, mountains etc....

I'm pretty sure he leaves a radioactive mess wherever he goes. The thing is a walking dirty bomb in a way. A walking Chernobyl.

Or at least, he should be.

I'm not liking the CGI for the monsters. Something's missing and I can't quite place my finger on it. Whatever, going to see it in IMAX.

Many people complained about bad CGI but I just dont see it. But maybe thats just me. Or general expectations are too big for todays CGI?

He can cover surprisingly vast distances quickly and cannot be stopped. He goes where ever the fuck he wants to go. If he wanted to, he could destroy the whole world. It's never been that big of an issue, though, aside from Godzilla vs. Destroyah.

Can he drown?

I think given enough time, he would literally force humans into the stone age. Civilization might be done in his wake. I wonder if Godzilla is drawn by concentrations of people in general? Like the titans in Shingeki, man humanity would be fuuuuuucked then.

Can he drown?

Godzilla is amphibious, and can eiher breath water or hold his breath for an ungoldy amiuntnof time. Godzilla also spent 5 years in a volcano and didn't give a single fuck.

The statistics for Gamera characters are hilarious. Apparently the 80 meter tall turtle monster weights 120 tons. That's less than many whales.

Yep, Godzilla weight is 60,000 tons, his tail might weighs more then every gamera monster combine.

That don't mean shit. Gamera would spin in a circle until he is super hot and super dense, then shoot through Godzilla like a speck of space dust through an astronaut.

Apologies but I haven't been following this thread super closely. I just saw the latest trailer that absolutely confirms >1 monsters - super jazzed. It also sounds pretty clear from the dialog that they deliberately unleash Godzilla to stop the other two - is that clever editing, or is that confirmed as the plot?

Why the FRACK would you ever release something like Godzilla? Even if there were other gnarly monsters out there? How do they hope to stop him afterwards?

Also I'm absurdly excited for this movie.

To me this movie looks like it's going very Heisei in style. I like it.

Why would Gamera be where Godzilla can blast him? He would presumably be some place that Godzilla cannot hit him. He's too smart to fight Godzilla head on.

You mean like off in space or something?

Oh wait.

Real talk though. As a japanese movie monster fan since I was a kid, when it comes to Gamera vs Godzilla... well, Godzilla is called the King for a reason.

it's not so much that they deliberately unleash godzilla so much that they probably come to the conclusion that if they can't do anything about godzilla, but he can do something about the mutos that are wrecking havok, then it's better for them to just get out of his way and as said in the trailer, "Let them fight". godzilla is never really "stopped" outside of the one time when he technically was when mechagodzilla turned sentient and crashed them both into the deep ocean depths. eventually godzilla just moves on and leaves people alone for a while until he feels the need to come back around because he can or some monster comes knocking around and he has to go beat the ever living shit out of it. he gets tired after a while and will go away for a while at some point though. it's not something that anyone can make him do unless they have some weird mystic link to him or something like the twins and mothra or the easter island people and megalon/gigan.

So we think they all just happen to arrive/awake at the same time? Or maybe Godzilla wakes up as a result of the other two arriving? Curious.

probably the latter. from the way that the airport scene is shot, it seems as though the mutos have been causing some havok for a bit and godzilla has been roaming around here and there but he never really comes around fully until then. i am, of course, only speculating here as i have not seen the movie yet. humans probably do realize that godzilla is around but it probably takes them time to figure it out that it really is him while they are also dealing with the threat of the mutos.

From what I've pieced together from interviews and such,
the two creatures are natural predators of Godzilla, so they're going after him because of that

lol

That should be the |OT| subtitle.

Actually found someone around here that's going to make this shirt for me. Definitely wearing opening night.

Why would Gamera be where Godzilla can blast him? He would presumably be some place that Godzilla cannot hit him. He's too smart to fight Godzilla head on.

Godzilla has fought creatures that are stronger and much faster than Gamera and they still got their asses handed to them. The ONLY time he's ever truly lost a fight, aside from Gojira being killed by the oxygen destroyer, was when Destroyah pretty much exacerbated his overheating condition, but he still got destroyed. Not even Mecha-Ghidora could put up a good enough fight against him.

Side question - Gamera and Godzilla are from separate film series, right? I used to think they fought each other, but I recently watched the MST3K of the first Gamera movie and it seems like it's just a Godzilla ripoff, not an entry in the Godzilla franchise.
