This movie gonna be hot stuff, the hottest of stuffs. Gareth Edwards will become premier ~movie film director~ after this I CAN TELL

Fuckkkk is this real?

It's real, but they want $100 for it for some promotion. Haven't been able to find it anywhere online for cheaper. If you know of a company near you that can do custom T-shirts, get in touch with them to make you one. That's what I'm doing.

Earlier today I purchased tickets to the 12:30PM showing on the 16th [for IMAX 3D]. This isn't a "LieMAX", either, it's a genuine IMAX theater. The ticket price was $20, but I do not care. I need to see this movie on the biggest screen I can with sound that will shake the very foundation(s) of my existence.

May 16th, why do you seem so far away?

Holy fucking shit. The G-man looks rad. And that roar chills chills down my spine. If the movie is as half as good as the trailer they nailed it.

Fuck all of you.

My ass in Germany. Can't see it till a week after it comes out in the states.

Is there a updated map for these? I know their used to be one but I don't think it's correct anymore. The map I used a while ago recommended one close to me as being real and I swear at one point it was. I saw The Dark Knight there and the opening shot blew my damn mind, but when I followed up for TDKR it didn't seem anywhere near as impressive and I don't even remember any ratio changes that signified "hey this part was filmed in IMAX".

IDK. I want to see Godzilla in IMAX and I know it wasn't filmed with IMAX cameras so I'm not expecting any supremely eye popping visuals (outside of Big G of course) but how can I trust a theater's sound system will be the shit if they can't even seem to get their screens right...

Seriously?

I saw TDKR on a true IMAX screen (Air and Space Museum in DC), and all the IMAX sequences are extremely apparent as IMAX aspect ratio are really tall then it is wide compared to the regular 2:40:1 shots. Not to mention the detail when going to 70mm from 35mm is hefty. TDKR had over a hour of IMAX shot, currently the most for a studio film. That does sound like LieMAX.

I'm so fucking salty the real IMAX in Seattle isn't showing Godzilla. Instead, the Pacific Science Center has relegated it (and the last few films) to the digital screen, which is about half the size.

They better not pull this for Interstellar.

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of an updated map that lists real/fake IMAX locations, I only know that the one near me is a true IMAX [and I'm extremely thankful for that]. From what you're saying though, it sounds like the location you've been to is a fake IMAX if you couldn't discern the IMAX/regular sections for TDKR.

While I am saddened that Godzilla wasn't shot with IMAX camera's, the improved picture/sound, and overall scope of the screen, is worth the added price for me [especially considering how excited I've been for this one].

Yeah I'm starting to think in the 4 years or whatever it took for TKDR to come out that they changed something. It's really strange because as far as I can tell the theater hasn't physically been altered, the screen seems huge, but it really didn't seem the same to me.

I know I'm not crazy because I saw the prologue at a science museum that only shows true IMAX films and I recognized the sections that where filmed in IMAX and how insane they looked. TBH thinking back this might have messed me up since the picture was literally so huge (it wasn't even projected on a screen, it was on a dome that spanned the entire audience-facing wall and roof, you couldn't look anywhere without seeing the screen unless you turned your head sharply down or to the extreme right/left, complete sensory overload) that I might have just been expecting a lot from the more traditional IMAX I saw TDKR in. But again I really don't remember any aspect ratio changes when I saw it there. IDK it's really confounding. I'll probably still see Godzilla in it and hope for the best.

I'm kinda worried that there is going to be too much angsty human bullshit and not enough monsters kicking the shit out of each other.

Basically the thing that made Pacific Rim crappy.

I'm thinking this too actually, except the disconnect between the monster action and humans might be worse since if Tayolor-Johnson & Co. do anything but run around like ants at Godzilla's feet they should get their asses bodied if it weren't for plot armor vs PacRim's jaegar pilots being in the actual thick of things.Though Aaron's character is a soldier so I'm hoping that his action beats make sense within the movie and are of course well done.

That being said I think it's pretty hard to top PacRim's shitty human element. It's what honestly drove me to dislike that movie. It was just so bad which is a shame since most of the cast was pretty damn good. From what I've seen so far the human part looks way better here than Pacific Rim's, Cranston's sort-of-old already monologue not included.

Slattern was fucking huge. 180m tall, wonder if Showa Godzilla could take him . . . his little ass might need help, like he does with Ghidorah.

Category 5 nerd question incoming:

Were official masses ever given for the kaiju in Pacific Rim? I vaguely remember Slattern being like 6,000 tons, which is laughable for a creature that size. Dude must have the density of styrofoam.

My inner 6-year-old is relieved they assigned Godzilla a realistic mass for this film.

I went back to double check, I'm pretty sure Slattern is 180m LONG, not tall. This is also be in line with being only 6000 tons since most of Slattern's length is made up of its tail. In the movie, Slattern wasn't that much taller than Gispy. Certainly not 80 meters taller. Chances are, height wise, he's as tall as Legendary's Godzilla.
