Anthem demo is up for pre-load

I have faith! EA is a terrible place filled with terrible people. However, those people like money and their recent practices has cost them plenty. Battlefield V was a step in the RIGHT direction, no matter what you SJW folks or WW2 historians say. Anthem is a second step in that direction with only cosmetic microtransactions and hopefully no throttling of XP gains.

I only have one worry. Is this effing game 60 fps on console or not got dammit!? How are they answering all these questions, showing off the game on PC and not answering this fundamental query!?

Tell me if it's good, GAF. I'll be unable to participate.

I'll stream it. Come say hi :)

I can't seem to get the preload to work on Origin. I have the full game already via the Nvidia RTX promotion. The promo version does not include any kind of demo access though. JareBear: Remastered JareBear: Remastered gave me a code, but when I click on the game in my library I don't have any preload options. It just mentions the full game release date. It looks like since it thinks I own the full version of the game it is ignoring the demo code.

I guess I can try logging into my EA account and downloading it on XB1 instead to try it out.

In Origin to go game profile and click on "try it first" or something like that

I think it is right under the option to buy it. I can't remember, it was on the main game page somewhere, said "Try It Now" or "Try It For Free" or something like that. Maybe someone else can help out

This is what I have. If I click the Library option it just mentions the February release date.

Has anyone seen this?
PCGamer Anthem will be Different from Full Release

I don't know how to take this now.. should I be surprised. I understand the Demo would put you at a higher level but "changes" to the economy in full release.

If you're thinking maybe they'll sneak in some throttling in order to lead you toward microtransactions a la Destiny 2, I don't think there's much evidence for that. I think what they want is to make it so people can experience a lot of what the game offers even if play in short spurts because the demo is only available for 2-3 days. I imagine the full game will feature more of a grind because the full game is out and once you have it, you have unlimited access and more time to play and enjoy it.

I'm more worried about the enemy AI and FPS on Console more than anything else. Crossing my fingers for a 1080p 60 fps mode with HDR.

I guess a lot can change from the alpha but from what I have heard I highly doubt you are getting 60fps on console. I could be wrong, maybe I missed something in the buildup.

Let me know if I am wrong though

Strange. The code definitely is used up so maybe it is on your Xbox profile

Looks like it will download on my Xbox. I think the gimped promo version I have on Origin is messing with the demo. I'll just play on XB1X this weekend :)

It has been answered.

In a Tweet they said the console versions will be focusing on graphics not frame rate.

All console versions will be 30fps maximum.

I do remember them saying this in a tweet but I also heard some murmurings that this could be changing. How recent is this tweet?

NVM....i found it. Dangit...PC might be the better bet

What does that have to do with requiring PS+ to play the game solo?

https://gamerant.com/anthem-solo-play/
Did you even read the article you quoted? They say you can play the multiplayer game alone, if you want. It's an online multiplayer game just like the Division or Destiny. There isn't an offline solo mode so why the hell would you expect to not need PS+?

Definitely believe Bioware has been pretty upfront with what will be considered an MTX, still excited though. Hoping HDR is well implemented lots of games "RDR2" really misuse HDR and cause the image to look horrible.

PC won't need any paid subscription, just the game...

Looks like they took the core of ME3 MP, expanded it a bit and turned it it into a full fledged stand alone game. Except the enemy variety doesn't seem as good so far nor does it have the well designed maps of ME3 MP.

But if you've played ME3 MP than you'll notice a lot of similarities of stuff that looks like biotic combos, tech combos, etc. It's just the setting where your doing most of the combat looks really dull and it's like most of the areas where you fight just aren't designed for combat like the ME3 mp maps were.

GB did a vid after brad captured some footage after an EA event and you should listen to Jeff's rant. I marked it so just press play.

so yeah....... It doesn't look like the same caliber as Mass Effect. The story stuff looks....... bad, like really bad coming from Bioware. The facial animations for dialogue look worse than in ME1 and are nowhere near contemporary standards. Horizon had far better facial animations for dialogue and that game is nearly two years old now.

Just saw this info regarding the demo.

So how's the Anthem demo different from the game?
- we start you in the middle
- no tutorials
- no pilot picker
- balance is super different
- economy is completely different
- 6 weeks less bug fixes

I find it odd that there is no tutorial in a demo that starts you off half way through a game. I hope that means you won't get the full tutorial, but there will be some sort of basic information on how the game works.

The fact that it keeps getting compares to ME is unfair, and is a problem IMO.

If ME3 MP was as good as what I've seen in recent footage and experienced in the alpha then damn I missed out on ME3.

Alright now that the demo is about to go up, I'm like 99% sure that means the Alpha NDA is done.
The game is just ok. The reason I've previously said it won't scratch that Destiny itch is because there doesn't seem to be as much of a focus on gunplay. It's more of a spray and pray and pop your cooldowns when they're ready kind of thing. Sure it looks flashy but it felt kind of hollow in comparison to the gunplay in Destiny.
There was very little story in the alpha but what I saw was interesting. The characters are incredibly annoying, however.
That said, the flying is pretty fun.

If really that's the case than I'm mad disappoint 🙁😔😥

Don't mmos get a free pass on needing psplus on ps4? Paywall locking a demo is quite a low.

Watch some of the footage of the EA Game Changers battling titans in free roam.

Seems to me like it's more than just "spray and pray and pop your cooldowns."

Went to try the demo and...servers are down...for the whole weekend? The whole time for the open demo? GG Bioware/EA.
