I don't get people saying Bayo2... you know it's coming right? or it's a "it is on wiiu so it will be shit/ it's like it doesn't exist" situation?

The first title that comes to mind when thinking of cancelled games that i wants to play is Zelda URA also known as the original OOT or Zelda 64DD

I think the responses in this thread were saying they wanted to play a version directed by Kamiya

Shoot, reading through this reminds me of so many games. Cancelled games are so fascinating. Knowing that they exist and some people have played them, but we'll just never see them.

I had, somehow, never heard of Project Offset. Video looked incredible. Grand Nights History is a major bummer, especially since they were so confident about a US release. Ushiro I recognized as soon as I saw that art with the chair. I had forgotten about that. Also, let's hope to God Dragon's Crown isn't cancelled.

Another entry for the sarcastic list: Spore how I saw it in my head/how it was portrayed to be.

EDIT: Oh shoot, BF3! Man...

Outcast 2. Above all else. Even over the Farcry Outcast mod they are making.

True Live. Or whatever that xbox multiplayer game was going to be.
True Fantasy Live?

Prey 2
Resident Evil 1.5
Fear Effect 3
Nightmare Creatures 3
Doom 4
Duality
Strident
The Unseen
Beyond Good & Evil 2
Cryon
Eight Days

Project Offset was pretty, but just that.

This title hasn't been cancelled. Michel Ancel has took a break from development to do Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. I suspect that after those are done he'll resume development.

that indiana Jones game for the 360 looked good...well, kind of

"details forthcoming", they said in 2009 after three years of silence

-Zero Racers, earlier known as G-Zero (Virtual Boy) - I would buy this today if it existed... 3d racing game for Virtual Boy, with Red Alarm-style graphics? I want it! Badly! And it was near-finished when cancelled, too.

-Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans (PC) - Sure there's a book, but I'd love to have played the game! I'm sure it'd have been decently good, and I loved the WC RTSes of course.

-Starcraft: Ghost (whatever) - Sure, it may have been disappointing, but because of how much I loved SC, I was really looking forward to this game... it's pretty sad that it never released. :(

Honorable Mentions: First, some games that were nearly complete when cancelled: Bound High (Another finished but cancelled game. This game's rom has leaked publicly, but it wasn't released) (Virtual Boy), Dragon Hopper (Virtual Boy), Mini Racers (N64) (I know the rom exists, but it is not public), Rodea the Sky Soldier (Wii), Star Fox 2 (SNES) (another one which does have a leaked rom)

Honorable Mentions: Games cancelled during development (not finished); Viewpoint 64 (N64), Dead Phoenix (GC) (looked really good!), Metal Slug (GBA) (the port of the arcade game), Quest for Glory V (PC)'s expansion pack (development of this never started, but it was planned, and would have included some features worked on but cut from the final original game such as multiplayer. It's really unfortunate that this didn't happen, it was needed.), Conquest 2: The Vyrium Uprising (PC) (the first one was great! I really wish that this sequel/addon had happened.), Fallout 3 (PC) (Black Isle), Baldur's Gate 3 (PC) ("Van Buren", Black Isle), Sonic X-Treme (Saturn) (I think it looked good in the videos...), Eternal Darkness 2, etc; there are plenty more. Far too many games never get released.

Finally, one that was never started, but I wish it had been: Commander Keen: The Universe Is Toast (either the original 2d one, or a later 3d game as Tom Hall thought of; the originals were among my favorite PC games in the early '90s)

-Starcraft: Ghost (whatever) - Sure, it may have been disappointing, but because of how much I loved SC, I was really looking forward to this game... it's pretty sad that it never released. :(

Disappointing? I played the multiplayer game at E3 and it was mindblowingly fantastic. The CG and story were also top notch.

still have hope for battlefront 3 its one of lucas arts top grossing games theyve ever made theres no way they wont have a new one made at some point

I'm always interested in any cancelled game, as well as any prototypes that are shown in old gaming magazines or at trade shows. These parts of gaming history are all-too-often forgotten and unpublicized.

A few posts in this thread really hit home. TimeSplitters 4, especially, is one I'd love to play. It's probably for the best that we didn't get Mother 64 - Mother 3 GBA will age better, no?

Project H.A.M.M.E.R. comes to mind, but I'm sure it was cancelled for a reason. Wii motion controls without M+ may not have been enough for what the developers wanted to do.

Dungeon keeper 3 by far. Still play the first two to this day and love them to death. Really hope war for the overworld fills that void.

Project HAMMER... that's another one I could have mentioned. I really like some of NST's games, so I was looking forward to it.

Disappointing? I played the multiplayer game at E3 and it was mindblowingly fantastic. The CG and story were also top notch.
Which version, though? It was rebooted or changed developers several times, and I know I remember hearing that some were better than others... but yeah, I was really looking forward to that game for quite some time. Even had SC: Ghost wallpaper on my computer for white a while.

The third Zelda Oracles game that was apparently going to be a remake of Zelda 1 or something. I'd play that.
Seasons is sort of a remake of Zelda 1, though, in terms of level design, bosses, etc. But yeah, sure, it's too bad that the Farore game didn't happen; Ages and Seasons are two of my favorite 2d Zeldas ever... but still, we did get two great Zelda games out of the series, so I don't think it'd make my list because of that.

Not exactly dying to play it, but I always kick around that "what if" thought....
IMPERATOR, the roman empire in space themed MMO by Mythic that was scrapped as they were bought by EA and put to work in Warhammer, I guess...I was really pumped for this.

But, as stated previously, I think all the best ones are already covered.

Too Human 2. Really enjoyed the first one. The series really had potential to be a great hack and slash loot game for the consoles.

Sky Knight Rodea form Yuji Naka/Prope Studios looked like it had a chance to be something special.

Lifted this from Wikipedia
according to an interview with Naka published by Siliconera, the game's development has finished, and he is waiting for Kadokawa Games to publish the game.
Every couple of months I remember this game exists and check for news. Always a depressing answer.

Mother 3 (64)
Conker's Other Bad Fur Day (Going Medievil, whatever other subtitles)
Perfect Dark 2 (not you zero, never zero)
Battlefront III
InSane (though rumor has it that it's coming back? or did del toro flat out say its gonna be back?)
The Last Guardian
:lol
The Avengers FPS (probably would have been shit honestly)
Mega Man Legends 3 aka I would have bought a 3DS for this fuck capcpom
The Pandemic Batman game
StarCraft Ghost
Grim Fandango 2 (okay this probably was never in development but still...)
Psychonauts 2
Brutal Legends 2
Shadows of the Damned 2 (well...probably)
This Is Vegas
Gotham By Gaslight

Considering the project still exists and we've yet to see how well it turns out (could be better than the first for all we know) mentioning it in this thread just seems like sour grapes. Kamiya still has some involvement, and we're getting Wonderful 101 besides. Or maybe people just have a fetish for certain industry figures, and aren't willing to give a creator's IP a chance with someone else at the reigns. I'm curious what these folks have to say about DMC 3...

True Fantasy Live Online
Having never played an MMO, and being a console-only player, I was really excited for this.
Such a letdown, it still irks me.

Can't believe we've only gotten 1 MMORPG on the Xbox platforms since LIVE went online in 2002. MS - thumbs up their asses.

I played the single player of the Swinging Ape version of Ghost and thought it was great. It reminded me of a good version of the Bungie game Oni with the character being acrobatic, but you could also use stealth in Metal Gear Solid style. There were both interiors and exteriors, which were pretty good looking on the original xbox.

A title called Beyond Good & Evil 2 will come out, but it won't be the same thing we have already seen. Elements might remain, but really if they come out with BG&E2, it will be next-gen.

Doom 4 is still in development dude.
Yes, but the previous version of Doom 4 was scrapped. TOTALLY. The started from scratch.

Winter (Wii)
Heavenly Sword 2 (PS3)
Gravite (PS3) (I want it on PS3 not on Vita damn it)
Darkwatch 2 (PS3 /360)
Final Fantasy Fortress (PS3/360)

Mother 3 (64)
Conker's Other Bad Fur Day (Going Medievil, whatever other subtitles)

Why was batman in the prototype so beefy?

Anyone remember the name of that steampunk adventure game thay got cancelled a couple years ago? I remember it having a great trailer.

Dead Phoenix - Kid Icarus: Uprising has filled this void for me so its not too bad.
Raven Blade - It be cool to see Retro resurrect and refine this. Nintendo could use a new western developed IP
Ushiro - One of the reasons I bought a PSP :(
Rodea The Sky Knight - Its done apparently....
The Grinder - Awesome concept, never saw the light of day.
SPACE*AGENCY - An isomaetric space-themed action RPG with detailed sprites and gorgeous backgrounds and house music. Couldn't find a publisher after Contact bombed. It be nice if they resurrected it and put it on the E-Shop independently.
Project H.A.M.M.E.R. - Nintendo needs to pass this over to Platinum and let them do their thing.
Son of the Dragon - I was totally hyped over this concept and its teaser image is one of the most kickass concept art pieces I've seen for that entire generation.
