Any Good Deals On PSPs?

I've been watching some Daxter videos, and a PSP purchase is looking better and better. Are there any good deals floating around? What's my cheapest option to get one and a good size memory card?

I don't know about PSP, but Pro Duos prices have been dropping like a rock the past months.

Like $60 for 1 gig and $110 for 2 gigs at Amazon.com!! The 2 gigs one debuted at like $300 when they came out last year.

The only deal I can think of is not to buy one, and get a DS.

I agree as well. No matter how much I'm enjoying my PSP and Exit right now. If you want an orgy of gaming, the DS has an already impressive ammount of A titles. Also you cannot argue with the price at all therfore it = deal.

DS is my favorite system by FAR. but that doesnt mean i don't want a PSP. i wish sony would do something about the price. no handheld is justified to have a price that high. still though i really want one. not upgrading your firmware = great.

I want TO WANT a PSP too, but for some reason I can't get interested in Sony consoles until a few years into its life cycle when it has a really established software base.

PSP software looks to be enhanced versions of PS2 titles. I'm just not compelled.

Could be the 1Gigabyte memory stick pro duo you get. :)
With current prices, I think it'd make more sense to get a regular PSP and a 2GB pro duo.

Anyway, another option to consider is Gamecrazy. As with any new console, if you buy a PSP there you get 12 free Hollywood Video rentals along with it.

Which is why i didn't recommend the gigapack and also why the gigapack was introduced 4 months ago.

Does the white PSP have any magic powers that I'm not aware of? I think the black one looks better, so is there any reason at all that I would want to get the white one instead?

Not really.

Are either of those games good
GripShift has been getting mixed reviews, good industry recognition/approval and seems to be a cult-hit in the making, at least here at GAF.
Frantix is fairly average, apparently.

Haven't played either personally, but I'll probably pick up GripShift myself. Can't go wrong getting both for free though.

Thanks for the deals, that white PSP is perfect, and that 2gb stick is an awesome deal. Another question: How many movies can I fit in 2gb, and what quality will they be?

I feel this way about the DS, in a way. I own the machine, but there just isn't that much software which appeals to me. Most of the software seems to be designed to appeal to those looking for some alternative form of gaming (which I could understand) or those obsessed with Nintendo IPs. I fall into neither and find myself most enjoying games which I felt were actually held back by the machine.

What I don't do, however, is run into threads regarding the DS and make this known (though I suppose I did at one point). It's foolish. I see why the device appeals to people and realize that it doesn't do the same for me. I wish others would do the same for PSP.

Well,

Last week Coconuts was selling the PSP for $219 (after a 30 mail-in cash rebate). But, that's over now. I expect a price drop at or before E3 for both the PS2 ($119-$129) and the PSP ($199).

Although, there's now the word of an 8GB PSP coming out sometime this year.

Rips of half hour shows usually come in at ~150Mb 1 hour ~350ish and movies at either 700mb or 2x 700MB. You will get more media than your battery can play in 1 charge anyway, but you will need to constantly be managing it. Stupid memory sticks. get larger already.

If anyone's interested...

I'm offering my PSP for $175, which includes the 32MB stick and SpiderMan 2 movie.

The wrist strap, soft case, cleaning cloth, sampler UMD and headphones haven't even been removed from their original packaging.
