Any hype for Halo Wars 2?

Not when they aren't porting the first to PC and the PC version will probably be UWP. :/

Shame as it's like the only RTS I can barely stomach.

This is gonna be a thing in Microsoft game threads huh?

Yes, as it should be. Until MS finally breaks and gets with what PC gamers and the rest of the world wants.

There is hype because RTS is the best genre. I hope it has deeper mechanics than the first one but it obviously won't as they want to appeal to a general audience.

Haven't played the first game but from what I heard the characters from the first game are all killed from the Flood, aren't they?

I don't think that was ever confirmed. You could only see a Flood Spore Form being on board of the Spirit of Fire in the comic, but that's all I believe. The Spartan Red Team is also in the trailer, which means they survived, since they were on board of the Spirit of Fire at the end of Halo Wars 1.

First game was overly simplistic strategy game, so gonna need lot more info on 2 before I can get hyped. HW was like RTS for Dummies

Because it was a console RTS game and actually designed to be very simple.

I've been a longtime Halo fan, pretty much since I first played Halo: CE on the PC back in '03. My love for the series has been slowly faltering ever since 343i took the reigns, but I still greatly enjoy those games and its universe.

So with all of that said, I'm actually far more interested in and excited for Halo Wars 2 than I am for Halo 6 (boy that feels weird to write). The first Halo Wars had a lot of problems, but I enjoyed the hell out of it, getting all but a few multiplayer achievements in the game. We know next to nothing about the sequel, but I'm so ready to jump back into that world from a top-down perspective.

The first one was very underrated I really can't wait for the second one so hell yeah bring it on!

Well, they are once again dead silent on a Halo game. I'm looking forward to it, but not really hyped.

Scared that Creative Assembly screws it up and it's not as much fun as it should be.

I would be more scared if it was 343i making a RTS. ;-p

Creative Assembly has a good track record in the RTS genre.

If it has campaign co-op I'm interested, but I don't know if that's the case yet? The first was decent in co-op and pretty unremarkable outside it.

It's so nice to see the good Battle Rifle design getting used instead of the garbage we see in Halo 4/5.

Fuck outta here with this RTS for dummies like it's a bad thing.

The simplicity is the only reason HW did as well as it did. Otherwise it would've been thrown in the pile with every other niche RTS game no one cares about.

Keep it simple, keep it easy to control and Halo Wars 2 should do just fine.

The first was a huge success, however that was when Halo was at its mainstream peak. Series has been on the decline in sales and market attention.

Don't have an xone so would have to get it on PC. Don't have much faith in a UWP games anymore so any excitement is muted.

I'm playing through the original Halo Wars for the first time on Xbox One.

The game is awesome :)

So yes, I can't wait to see and play HW2.

^add me up. Me and my friends started playing running customs again. The first game really shines in its multiplayer mode once you understand all the quirks of it. The legendary A.I will become a joke after a while once you get a hang of the game. Macro-ing units is the main difficulty of the game and it only gets harder as a match goes on. Making unit groups and allowing a better way to set pathing of units would improve wars 2 a lot. That's probably the biggest issues it had.

My only other thoughts on how they should handle the sequel is
-keep and improve on the way terrain was rendered in wars because it's by far one of the best in the genre including pc rts games.
-don't make flood a playable race but make covenant have a campaign this time
-There will likely be a promethean race this time which is fine but make sure the unit classes all look extremely distinct. Halo wars did this and it made fights easy on the eyes and easy to tell units apart.
-add some more hero units to the game. Maybe make 1 or 2 per commander
-if they include a scoring system again and keep the same overall playstyle as Halo wars 1 then change how weightings occur per hero. Forge had it easy with his resource boost literally boosting his score. Not really necessary cause a wins a win but it gives more context when comparing scores if commander choice is taken into account

Really enjoyed the first one, best cut scenes. Hopefully Creative Assembly keeps the spirit and gameplay in tact. I really hope we see Flood or Prometheans as another playable race.

The first game was great, the only RTS I've every really enjoyed and finished. Seeing as how this one is from a different, but hopefully equally talented developer I would say I'm cautiously optimistic.

I hope the game like the first in question of simpleness and focus on the gameplay for the controller first because that's why i love halo wars.

Been playing Halo Wars online BC on Xbox One a lot recently and can't wait for the second, I hope it builds on the stationary base aspect but gives us more units to play with

Honestly, yeah. I actually am. It is maybe my most anticipated Q4 game this year. That probably says more about everything else than it does about HW2, but there you go.

Just praying it's not episodic.

That was classic. While I was not as excited as you physically, I was pretty pumped when they announced it. For me, outside of Quantum Break, Halo Wars 2 is my most anticipated title.

That and the ability to place more defense turrets where you want them within range of the base. So the base units that are attached to the base are still there, but you can add more if you want, but those could/should count as units.

I put over 300 hours into Halo Wars and at one point no joke was ranked top 25 in the world with Prophet

But they've shown nothing of the game so can't get a ton of hype behind it yet. I'm sure we'll see it at E3 and that should help.

My favourite Halo title, the series lends itself really well to an RTS and I loved the first for a laid back strategy game.

Looking forward to getting this one on PC

Yes, of course. I love the Halo universe and strategy games are one of my favorite genre of games. Plus it's being created by Creative Assembly, who are pretty decent for the most part. So yeah, can't wait to see some more information on it.

Had a lot of fun with the first one and I loved the cut scenes. If anything I'm in for some casual fun. I don't expect it to be Starcraft levels of successful, but if it appeals to the RTS crew while bringing in some casual fans and adds more awesome content to the Halo lore I'm content.

Not really but maybe when I see more. The first was okay but it's really just an RTS I've played years ago in a different skin and Halo IP doesn't excite me enough. Never played the multiplayer though but I'm a bit bored of the rest.

No, not really. I just hope there won't be any kind of "rushing" technique, I'm more into the carefully planned attacks and the Warthog rush technique just ruined the online games to me.

I agree, the reason I loved the first so much was because of the simplicity.

Hype is through the roof ever since it was announced, this was like a dream announcement for me. Never thought we would actually get a sequel.
