To ensure the highest quality gaming experience, in the event that an unforeseen technical issue is discovered after hand certification is completed, Microsoft® reserves the right to remove any game name from this list. Please check back often to see the most current list of games.

2Currently the North American versions of these games are the only ones supported as backward compatible titles on Xbox 360.

3The December 2005 update includes the Monk Zheng content from the limited edition of Jade Empire.

4Offline version only; versions included with Xbox Live Starter Kits or as a bundled game with other Xbox Live titles do not yet play on Xbox 360.

Well, the system came out only one month ago.

I found about the update when trying to play Super Monkey Ball with one of my friends yesterday. I don't think writing the emulator is as easy as it sounds.

People thought that they wouldn't even release updates for that, and this is now the proof that they are indeed working on it.

That's a perfect example of having too much time and caring too much.

Monkey Ball runs nicely. I need Conker, Grabbed by the Ghoulies and Beyond Good and Evil, then I'm happy. And no, I don't have an old Xbox

Tried Thief 3 last night, works somewhat well, though the framerate seems a tad more sluggish than I remember. Also it has a weird glitch where candlelight and torches clip through walls, so you can just pan around in any room and see all the various lightsources from anywhere in the level on screen...annoying frankly.

Yeah, the Ghost Recon and such has been there for a couple weeks now.

On a related note.. does everyone else get substantially more voice communicator static when playing Halo 2 on the 360?

And it's also an old-ass post and took all of 2 minutes... go search function! :p

Hey, uh Rayne - does posting the history of a point I've been trying to get across for a while make it not true?

Oh wait, it doesn't.

Sony did it right. MS did it completely wrong. Those are the facts, and as an engineer - I know what BC should really mean.

This is not BC. This is emulation through software. PS2 does it right. PS3 will most likely do it right as well.

360 didn't do it right. It is a great machine, but by no means is it BC at all.

If it was, 99% or better of the games should play on day one right out of the box. But obviously, we know that the 360 isn't even coming close to this figure. If it were true BC, it would work like the PS2 (i.e. it would be provided through the hardware of the machine and not need constant software updates)

Your post seems to come off as some sort of damage control if you ask me.

Go Damage Control! w00t!

Yeah, okay, then they need to "software emulate" the newer Princes of Persia. I need to return this shitfest PS2 version in like two days.

*reads first sentence and skims everything else*

My point had nothing to do with what MS calls bc, but the fact that you kept saying the same thing over and over. Damage control indeed..

Anyway, issue is dead since I posted that on December 6th. :lol :p

how the hell would you plug in steel battalion?

i wouldnt ever expect it

All it should take is a USB adapter for the controller. I'd certainly pay a few bucks for it, just to be able to play Tekki for years to come.

So I don't have to make another thread can anyone answer me, if the BC games (other than Halo2) will have better framerates? There were a couple (or tons) of original xbox games that had framerate slow downs, will the ones that are BC have better performance on the 360?

Even though it's not listed as working, the Mortal Kombat: Deception bonus disc with MK1 works fine. The actual MK: D game isn't working yet.

I tried running Call of Chthulhu, and it was having problems running the first flashback cutscene, in the asylum. I would only get either black or white screens with the audio playing. I'll try it again later.

Yeah I've seen videos of people playing MK- Deception, on a Mortal Kombat website and it showed huge angled polys jutting out of the characters, interrupting the flow of the game. Really horrid to look at, not to mention unplayabled.

I really hope they try and fix this stuff....

If they can't get their stuff going without the awful image overlaying that Halo 2 single player has they might as well stop.

If I wasn't so adament about playing Halo 2 in 720p with a far superior controller, I would have turned it off and switched to Xbox 1.

Well, this seems like the best thread to bring up a question. So, I'm playing the single player campaign of HALO 2 on the XBox 360 (never did beat the game so I figure now is a good time) and I notice a couple of graphics bugs. On a couple stages, such as "Uprising", I get weird light blotches on parts of the screen. Its hard to explain but it looks like some type of lighting effect gone bad. Anyone else notice this problem?

Yep. It looks like the background is stuck on the foreground as a ghost image. My friend and I could actually make out parts of the game that we had already went through. Sometimes it would go away, other times it would stay until we reset the game. Annoying that is for sure.

Ah, thanks. Good to know that its a known problem. I agree that the glitch is rather annoying, but otherwise the game looks nice with the higher resolution. Hopefully Microsoft fixes most of these problems with a version update but I somehow doubt it will happen.

I must be hallucinating then, because I see this in the list:

"* The Incredible Hulk™: Ultimate Destruction"

You're right and I'm stupid, I was looking for it under "H" because you know, I'm used to how "The" usually gets ignored when lists get alphabetized. My fault.

Along with updating the list of titles that work under BC, I am aware that the BC team is looking into, trying to reproduce and, if they can reproduce it in their testing environment, working on fixing these types of issues that come up.
