the 'main' marvel films are blurring together

dc's shit looks interesting mostly because it isn't marvel

other than that the only one i'll care to see is age of apocalypse cuz apocalypse was cool on the 90s cartoon.

I'm kinda with ya. A lot of them have just become terribly formulaic and bland.

Unfortunately, Hollywood has pinned a lot hopes on superhero movies and big franchise sequels for the next 4.5 years!

Holy shit, I wasn't expecting it to be that bad.

Done with Marvel for now. Cant stand their factory produced nonsense. I will give DC a chance but if they fk up I will be done with those as well.

Yeah I've gotten burnt out by superhero movies as well. Had no desire to see Avengers 2 or Ant Man.

I am interested in Deadpool though, but that's about it.

Yeah, I'm in need of a long break from superhero movies.

In a larger sense, I'm growing weary of "geek culture." And right now superhero movies seem to be the epicenter of that.

No. But I don't watch all of them to begin with. The only Marvel movies I like are Captain America's. Much more looking forward to the DCCU. I really liked MoS, sue me.

Most of them are cookie cutter movies, so I have gone off a lot of them. Although there are some interesting characters getting upcoming movies so they will hopefully be interesting.

I am super tired of reboots and origin stories though especially.

I have really been bored of the MCU movies lately. Once I feel that there are any stakes whatsoever to the plot, I might get hyped about them. But every third act is the same.

Avengers 2 felt... unnecessary. I mean, it wasn't bad and I was very hyped about it but after watching it, while I enjoyed it I kinda forgot it. It was so unmemorable. It felt like a step for Avengers 3. Now more and more hero movies seem to do that. I'm certainly not done yet but I can see and feel that it's not a fresh genre anymore. At some point, I'll just stop caring I guess.

Totally felt the same way. It wasn't bad or anything, it was just there.

I'll still probably keep watching most of them. Though I'll likely wait until the home release for Ant Man, and just about zero interest in the Fox stuff outside of the 1960s X-Men.

Isn't The Amazing Spider Man 3 canceled?

I'm a bit excited for some of them, but I would trade them all for blockbusters doing something different. I'm worried Star Wars is also going to outstay its welcome, but at least with that it's not as easy to copy it for an instant hit.

I'm kinda burned out on Mahvel. Skipped Avengers 2 in its entirety, only saw Antman because I had a groupon, and even then I wasn't particularly impressed. They're just starting to run together a little.

Much more excited for DC's offerings and, to a lesser extent, Fox's. Deadpool, Suicide Squad, and BvS, that's my big lineup.

Don't know. Those lists come from a Grantland article from last December, so if any of those titles have been cancelled after that the images would be out of date.

Anything Sony/Spider-men related on that list is cancelled. From glancing over the list real quick that would include Sinister Six and the female lead film in the Sony-verse.

There's so many movies a year and like a half dozen superhero TV shows airing and in the pipeline -yeah,we're reaching a critical mass.

Still, even with those being omitted, that leaves a metric ton of superhero movies coming out.

The article they came from wasn't shitting on superhero movies per se but rather pointing out how Hollywood has shifted from using periodic franchises to finance the rest of their films divisions to existing almost entirely for big ticket franchises.

It's a good, albeit a bit lengthy, read and might offer some insight for those who feel kinda burned out on modern movie releases.

I used to watch them all and even though the last few I watched(gotg, winter soldier) were great, I just lost interest. Didn't watch avengers 2 or ant man.

I might watch gotg2 but overall I feel like they lost their luster.

I love superman. So no, I don't think I'll ever be done with superman movies.

Done with Marvel, sure. Didn't even see Avengers or Ant Man. Nor care to ever see em.

A good movie is a good movie. But most of em ain't, and lately they've all been connected and homogenized and they've saturated the whole marketplace so blockbuster movies are more likely to be the next in the Marvel or DC factory line than not. So yes, they have lost their luster for me.

With Marvel having their Spider Man reboot in 2017 I don't see The Amazing Spider Man 3 happening.

I wish the action was a little more creative but they're still fun movies to watch. Winter Soldier was by far the best of the bunch in that regard as well as storywise.

I used to think I was but it's that I just don't care about the news surrounding them. I don't care when they're in preproduction, or when casting rumors fly, or even when the first teaser is out. I tend to pay attention to them closer to actual release.

No, why would i? I have been a comic fan all my life and we are finally getting good well made superhero movies and in the grand scheme of things we don't even get THAT many a year compared to all the other non-superhero films.

I hope we never stop getting superhero films.

Not really no, the more this movies area realeased the better chance we get a really good superheroe movie.

For the sake of my younger me, who never thought of the day when we could watch all of these heroes being the focus of attention like this I say keep them coming.

I thought I was after I saw Avengers 2. That movie did nothing for me. Then I saw Ant-Man because of the good reviews and Paul Rudd. It was really enjoyable. So...it depends?

Have some self control and watch what you're absolutely thrilled about. Last super hero movie I watched was man of steel. I'm not done with super hero movies yet. Dead pool isn't even out yet or the next super man movie.

the guys who did Winter Soldier are doing the next Avengers so your answer should be yes!

Nope, especially not with Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad still coming.

With Marvel? Ehhhh.

Deadpool looks really terrible, won't see it.
Avengers 2 was shit.
Winter Soldier was okay the first time, and boring the second time. Took about an hour to get interesting after the opening. Chris Evans bores me to tears.
Ant-Man looks really stupid and I won't see it.
Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't hold up well. It was good-ish the first time, and bad the second time due to so much focus on bad, forced humor (too many Marvel movies do this).

I suppose there's hope for Russos doing Avengers 3.

Bring back Blade, Marvel. I prefer the Daredevil show over any movies they've done recently.

If a movie looks interesting superhero or not I will watch it. I'm not going to write off a whole genre just because the market is oversaturated with them.

At least Marvel's stuff. The only Marvel movie I watched after Avengers was Iron Man 3 and that was boring. Slighty interested in Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy. The rest doesn't interest me at all.

I look forward to Deadpool and Batman vs. Superman though.

Oh is it already time for our bi-monthly anti-comicbook movie thread? These things always sneak up on me

I'd rather money be invested in other ideas but these being the big budget movies isn't terrible, I'm still going to see them and enjoy some to a certain extent.
