Anyone else always feel like an idiot in a suit?

I hate wearing suits. Been to too many funerals lately, so the suaveness of suit-wearing is marred by the cold embrace of death.

Edit: Relevant.

This is hi-larious. It's important to note that a proper fitting suit is what you need. It is rare for a suit to fit you perfectly off the rack so tailoring is a must.

This is what I am wearing today.

I haven't even wore a suit yet as an adult, i don't own one, there were plenty of funerals when i was a kid and i got to wear terrible leftover suits from relatives and such, literally a kid wearing his father's clothes.

This thread comes at a good time, i feel like i'm in need of a suit in the near future, and hell, i should have at least one in my possession.

so should i just buy one off the rack that fits as much as possible then finish it with the tailor? i've gotten the impression this is much much cheaper than having a suit made from the ground up just for me.

Definitely not.
I used to despise suits before my first office job but I ended up liking them and I think they make you look hotter, provided that they are well tailored. You can't just put any suit on and call it a day.

Man I feel confident as hell wearing a suit. At one point when I was little I wanted to wear nothing but suits. Look good as hell in a suit, I act a lot differently too.

The suit takes over me like the symbiote

.

Bought and over priced Boss suit last year for a round of school interviews. The fit was awesome and gave me a huge boost in confidence during all my interviews.

A properly tailored suit makes a huge difference.

I'm too short to do suits

About 5'8 or 5'9

I'm 5'7 :P, suits look just fine with me

Nope I feel like a pimp when ever I dress up in a suit, love the feeling TBH then again I dress up in it 2 times a year.

My suit fits fine but I am just not comfortable in any type of formal clothes, I always feel like an idiot even though when I look in the mirror I think I actually look great.

Jeans and hoodie life for me

You need a good tailor or, if funds allow, a bespoke suit.

MTM is more than fine for anyone that wants a great fit without caring about all of the additional options/decisions that go into bespoke. At least I'm pretty sure most in here/on GAF don't.

Off-the-rack is fine if it actually fits well with only small modifications by a tailor for fit. It can be taken in, and the sleeves can be adjusted, but you're not going to mess with the shoulders or length of the jacket. Usually people have a hard time finding a good fit off the rack, and there's only so much a tailor can do within reason. Find a good fit, then get it tailored.

MTM for those who want more input or better fit/can't find OTR/live in large cities with good MTM options available.

You don't need to be told to go bespoke if you already care enough about it. And no one else can tell you what to do there anyway.

I love being in a Suit! I feel uncomfortable in it but the fact it makes me look better is enough to counteract that feeling :)

Nope I feel good in a suit, also people call me sir in shops and old people aren't scared of me.

I hate being called 'sir'. It makes me feel old, especially since no one did it until I was at least 33 and it's happened progressively more often since.
And I've gotta admit that I've come to enjoy that fear.
