Anyone else dangerously close to succumbing and picking up an Xbox One for Titanfall?

If you're buying a console for Titanfall, you're just using any excuse to buy a console. You could build a PC for that price that would run the game better:

Was but not enough to warrant to get one anymore. I think I was just happy enough with PC beta but not fully.

I had the same thought the other day, and then realized how crazy it is for a couple of reasons:

1) I LOVE my PS4 and all of its exclusives
2) I don't really care for any XBOX exclusives
3) I can play Titanfall on my 360

Honestly, if you like COD style games, TitanFall is probably right up your alley and is probably the perfection of that genre.

I know, I know, its not COD. It has jetpacks and mechs. But its in the same style as COD.

For me, I am done with that shit. I'm not even playing Killzone MP anymore because that shit bores me. BF4 still holds a bit of my interest because it is such a large scale and has vehicles and large style warfare.

Destiny though looks great. Looks super original, has those public events, and planetary exploration. Ohh God I cant fucking wait for it.

But yeah, I am so done with that style of game.

I already have a XO, so this thread only half applies to me, No. While I admit Titanfall was a decent game from the beta , I am a gamer who has principals and I will stick to them until the end (unless something drastic changes on the issue I have with the thing in conflict with my principals.)

Titanfall falls into the category of me REFUSING to support a game that was meant to be multiplat only for Microsoft (or any one else) to do a scummy thing and pay for other versions of the game to be cancelled.

I WILL NOT support any action by any company which I deem to be detrimental, to any or all groups of gamers. The paying to make a multiplat game exclusive includes this. So I won't get this on Xbox One and because EA would take such a horrid offer I won't even get the PC version either. So EA and Microsoft failed to get me as a customer at all.
Damn. You really are the best junior ever. I have to admit sometimes my principles fall by the wayside when I really want something; fortunately that's not an issue here.

560 USD for Titanfall on a markedly inferior platform?

Yeah, I'm finding it a tough sell at 60 USD on a superior platform. I figure I'll probably pick it up when Origin runs its first 50% sale or something.

I hope this title sells millions between the two Xbox platforms, if only to justify the deal and reward Respawn's first foray as a company... but personally, it's not worth $500 for me. Not even close. If I end up buying it, it'll be on PC.

how is the first point even relevant though? its cool not to like any of the MS exclusives but I don't understand how you liking PlayStation would affect your purchase decision

personally I'm waiting on either a) a sick ass collectors edition console or b) a ton of good exclusives before jumping in to either

No, if i'm going to pick one up it will be for a game that actually looks half decent
Lol :)

Was going to pick it up on PC, but my thirst has sated. Might get it later in the year if it's on offer but I'm with you, I'm at "meh" level right now.

Nope.

Waiting for the post e3 $399 Kinectless model. Even then it's a maybe.

MS, in both their arrogance and ineptitude, have really lost me as a consumer.

I had both last gen consoles and love my ps4 right now. Destiny should fulfill my online time anyway.

Luckily I have a Mac that can run it pretty damn fine (via bootcamp of course).

I have no interest in the Xbox One or its 1st party games and I haven't forgotten about what they were attempting to do. I just don't trust them.

Nope, not even close. Way too much to spend just for one game. I plan on skipping Xbox this gen. I'll either pick it up on the 360 or I won't pick it up at all.

You and TENS of other people!

It's sarcasm. Please don't be mad.

Edit: Just realized how much PS4 circle jerking is going on here. I can understand defending your decision with an explanation, but bashing another console or user's platform of choice because you don't want to let up on your PS4 fandom? C'mon now.

ITT: "Nope. > insert short, one sided, irritated reasoning here <"

picking up a console for one game. lol no.

picking up a console for 2-3 exclusive games and inferior ports? no.

ring me in 3-4 years when they have a solid line up of 6-12 exclusive titles. THAT is worth buying a console for, especially when said console is inferior in every way on non-exclusive titles.

That sounds very boring.

Titanfall plus KI, kinect, and the eventual halo gears combo is worth buying an Xbone for imo. Really depends on how much $560 means to you. Ten years ago I would have just stuck with ps4 and salivated at KI and titanfall.

I'd probably pick up Titanfall if it were on PS4. Definitely not shelling out $500+ just for a multiplayer only game.

As others have mentioned, having it on PC and 360 pretty much removes the incentive of getting an Xbox One.

Available also on Xbox 360 and PC so what for? I mean just for this game, anyone is willing to shell out $500 even if there are other means of playing it? I doubt it.

Will Destiny have a campaign?

I'm wondering what kind of difference the X1 and X360 versions will have anyway, since both are 720p.

i don't get it do you not have a 360

Sold my 360 at the end of last year in anticipation of getting the PS4 at launch, which I did.

Keep in mind the posed question isn't to spend $500 on TitanFall and TitanFall alone. I would definitely be interested in their Halo offerings (both re-release and 5) along with anything else exclusive.

All that said, I think the replies in this thread have slapped me back into reality a bit. I have to think a price drop or Kinect less unit (that costs $100 less) has to be on the horizon.

Honestly, if the Xbox One was $399 like the PS4 and didn't have a Kinect (or it didn't inflate the cost by $100), it would have been a no brainer.

I was close to building a desktop PC to play Titanfall, but then I got into the beta and my laptop played it just fine.

No. It is tempting, but I can just get it for 360.

If there was anything else that I really wanted to play, then maybe. But I have the better versions of all the multi platform games on my ps4 and there are no xbone exclusives that sway me at the minute.

When it hits the bargain bin at 20$, I may pick it up.

Of course another 10$ for Titanfall so about 30$ is what I can pay to play it.

I am eventually picking up an X1 this year but not for TitanFall. I'm holding out on a price drop. I may just pick up TF for 360 but I haven't fully decided on it. Looks fun but I don't think many if any of my 360 buddies are picking it up.

If Titanfall ends up being an amazing game I'll just pick up the PC version. Titanfall is not really a system seller to me for the Xbox One because it is on PC and 360.

Will Destiny have a campaign?

I believe you can play it by yourself although Bungie seems to be saying that it's better with other people.

Give it up man.

More to a game then resolutions. And no confirmation the 360 one is even 720p.

Also everyone knows the x1 version will take the front seat to updates, dlc, etc. I would not be surprised if the x1 gets everything first while PC and 360 is put on the back burner.

Nah, Titanfall looks fun but it's something I'd pick up at $20 or so. I need a single player campaign.

Ditto. I won't deny the potential greatness of the game but I need to get more out of it than a MP experience.

I can pay a fraction of the price and get the game for 360 if I really wanted to give it a shot. I cant imagine that the quality will be that drastic for the 360 version, I'm of the mind that the staggered release is to push Xbone sales up front.

$60 > $500

oh

well,

i don't think any console is worth it for one game, so, no

No, my interest in Titanfall has diminished somewhat over the past few months. If I do ever plan on buying it, I'll just pick it up on PC.
