Anyone else dissapointed in the PS4 launch titles?

Killzone impressed me somewhat at e3 and I'm far from a fan of that series.

Otherwise 3rd party stuff seemed fine. BF4, watch dogs, AC4, Diablo 3. This will hopefully keep the system afloat for the first few months and more releases appear.

yep. All the cool games this fall are coming out on pc too and spending $500+ on a console + games etc to play games that run worse than on my computer seems pretty dumb.

Knack doesn't look very good. I was hoping for a solid platformer at launch, but it looks more like a Lego-game in terms of the gameplay.

Killzone looks great however. It will probably be my first purchase if I buy a PS4 at launch.

Not sure about Driveclub. I'm hope it's similar to PGR.

Edit: The Witness is a musthave if it's a launch title.

As a huge PS/SCE fan, I personally don't need a PS4 at launch, there are no titles I want.

Hell, I'll still be playing GTA5 and GT6. And I haven't even touched BioShock Infinite, yet.

Not disappointed at all. I like Killzone and BF4 and Watch_Dogs should last me a while as well. Second Son will only be a couple months down the line plus there's a lot of indie and F2P games coming at/around launch that I'm pretty excited for. No real killer app but enough stuff to make me want to jump in day 1 and it's a decent starting library. I couldn't afford more than those three retail games at launch anyway.

but you can get two of those for ps3 or 360.

why upgrade for games you technically can buy now?

I was buying a PS4 day one anyway for Killzone.

BF4 will be much, MUCH more superior on the PS4 than current gen systems. Full destruction, 64 player matches, 1080 and 60fps. It will look like shit on 360/PS3.

Same can be said for Watch Dogs. Why would I go with inferior versions when I can go with these?

It has at least one dev from PGR so that bodes well for it in that regard.

I thinks this is the third or fourth time we've had this same thread and both launches appear weak. However, with teh FTP stuff, PS4 is actually looking better than XBone's because it offers more variety in gameplay for me.

Plus, what more can you ask for than KZ4 and BF4 both available at launch, those alone can keep you busy for hundres of hours, then add in Planetside.... Whoa Docta....

Its probably one of the better launch line ups I can remember.

Will probably he getting killzone and something else not sure yet.

its sucks that infamous is not launch but the way I look at it is by the time it comes out the price will be the same. So I might as well get the cross Gen 3rd party games on PS4 (or xbone) since they probably the best versions.

I think this is where the lack of BC really hurts. At previous launches you could get the next Gen console and play couple launch games and still play all new amazing last Gen games coming out. Gave more value to the launch consoles.

Anyone else dislike questions that start with "anyone else?"

Only interested in The Witness. But that's not a reason enough to get the console on day 1,

Nor is it a launch game.

And meh, it's a solid lineup. No real system seller on either platform.

Disappointed in first party games. 3rd party launch line-up is fantastic though.
Xbone line-up isn't any better though.

I think Blacklight Retribution will keep me entertained. played it during my time at e3 and enjoyed it.

though i will agree that aside from killzone, the launch titles seem a bit lacking

we still have tgs were sony might announce new games that will be ready at launch

I really want to buy a PS4 at launch but none of the launch titles hold any interest for me right now. The only title out of the bunch I saw that held any interest for me was Second Son (which is supposed to come out in 2014).

I have a pre-order in for a PS4 @ Amazon, but if nothing changes I'll probably cancel it as we approach launch date.

It's better than most launches thanks to the crossover titles. Rule of thumb is to never expect good launch games and never expect good games for the system in the 6 months after release. Even then, the great games don't start arriving until about 1-2 years from launch.

I think it's alright I have seen way worse.

Why do some people only think of first party titles in here? There are more launch games than those...

Exclusive wise, Killzone is enough for me although more games would be nice
Multiplatform wise I don't think any console has had an anticipated New IP like Watchdogs and big sellers like Assassin's Creed 4, Battlefield 4 and COD:Ghosts
We usually have to wait for those titles, not get them at launch
So I say the launch line up is probably the best we've had multiplatform wise
But as far as I'm concerned the launch lineups haven't been announced yet but what is look tasty!

Just like any other console launch, but I'm sure some indie games will keep me entertained.

Probably Battlefield, KZ or CoD too

Meh, kinda. With the PS3 launch I got Resistance and Motorstorm and both games were great fun. If Killzone and Driveclub can deliver I'm happy.

You think the PS3 version will be the same as PS4?

Why play on inferior version ?

The first party launch lineup is rather weak. I'm getting Killzone but I'm not even that excited for it. I see Knack being a PS+ game by mid-year 2014 so I didn't bother with getting that on launch.

Because Battlefield 4 and Watch_Dogs will not run like poop on the PS4 or Xbox One. BF4 on next-gen consoles will also feature 64 players & 60FPS.

I get this but if you care about specs...shouldn't you have a PC?

It's a lot to put down money to technically play games you can already play. You are paying over 600 bucks to play a prettier version.

This kind of play the best version only comes into play if you have the system already.

Look I'm basically buying one for NBA2k14 a game that won't be super amazing over the ps3 version so I am the guy I'm making fun of but I wish there was a only for next gen game that appeal to me as in the back of mind I'm going "i totally could have saved money and just bought this for my ps3.."

killzone looks pretty interesting, despite my not liking what I've played from other killzones. That's about it on the launch-day big games (exclusives) that interest me.

EDIT: Added exclusives. There are a ton of third-party multiplatform games that look great for both systems.

Assuming you have the cash, the question ultimately becomes "Is it worth waiting for the first price drop before buying the console?" otherwise, it makes little sense to delay purchasing a system if you know 100% you are going to get it at some point. And I would suspect there are still some 3rd party games you would have bought on 360/PS3 that you can get for your PS4 instead.

Killzone looks great but it's not something I need to play day 1.

I'll most likely pick up my PS4 when InFamous drops.

Launches almost always suck. This is nothing new.

Only reason I'm getting PS4 day one is because I'm impatient. I'll be picking up Watch Dogs just to have something to play.

Yeah, with Second Son missing launch, I'm not very thrilled about the launch line-up. I mean, if we're ignoring 3rd party titles, I see nothing worth picking up. Drive Club and Knack are looking incredibly rough. As for Killzone... I'm incredibly baffled by Sony's continued faith in this series. Beside the technical feats, I've always thought it failed to produce the quality and numbers required to sustain a series up to its 4th release, but it's obvious that Sony sees things differently. I hope for their sake that they're right this time.

Not having Gran Turismo 6 to go up against Forza 5 was and idiotic move. I would of slapped somebody in that boardroom who decided to keep it PS3 exclusive.

Actually GT6 IS going up against Forza 5 and seeing as how the install base of the PS3 is 70+ million, GT6 is going to do better than Forza 5 sales wise.

The Witness is the only launch exclusive that interests me out of both platforms, so..

Anyone else dislike questions that start with "anyone else?"

Whatttt. I thought it was.

nah huge amount of gameplay hours on my day ones for Watch dogs and AC4 which are both huge open world type games. AC4 should be the definitive version with its better performance and exclusive content.

Depending how good current gen console Diablo 3 is may also buy that at launch.

I'd consider killzone if reviews are good and the game contains a lot of the huge beautiful looking environments as the city shown in the trailer.

Feels like i continually bring up what i bought at Xbox 360's launch: Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo, and King Kong.

This gen will be better.

I am. I don't think the XBOne has anything super amazing either, but they did have two exclusives that I'm interested in (Dead Rising 3 / KI). But I wasn't interested in any of the launch or future exclusives shown at E3 for PS4. I was actually pretty bummed about it.

The Witness is the only game I'm really interested in.

Killzone will be typically beautiful but ultimately vapid, knack looks uninspiring, and I find car games supremely dull.

I'll get Battlefield and The Witness if I am to purchase on launch, but I'm more inclined to wait for Infamous, to be honest.

yeah I'll probably do that too.

This will actually be my first true launch day system....probably ever or since the n64.

Killzone: do not trust GG after the awfulness of 3 and I couldn't bother finishing 2 as it was just boring to play. Very overrated games and developer for me.

Knack: seems nice but it doesn't scream you should pay $400 to play

Drive club: Why be hyped for this instead of Forza 5 from a proven developer? Disappointing e3.

I love the system, design, long term plans, and sony's direction. There's just nothing from them games wise to get me running to the store on launch day. Infamous will be that for me, but that's months later. And MS can go fuck themselves with their attitude and price. Probably going to sit out launch day.

I'll probably hold off until Destiny comes out. The only launch game on the PS4 that I would get is BF4. But the Wii-U and 3DS have some decent games coming out around the holidays so they should be good enough for me until Destiny.

No, because there's so many BIG 3rd party games coming out at launch, I can actually wait for more PS4 exclusives to come out later.

Then wait. Nothing wrong with giving it a year to get rolling. I like being an early adopter - especially after waiting a hundred years for a new box. My PC does great but man I like my consoles, too.

Yeah, I was thinking about this the other day. None of the exclusives are must-buys for me. Killzone looks good and I've never played the series so it would be fresh buttttttt I dunno, I don't seem to be getting hyped for it. Oddly enough the exclusive launch title I want the most is on the X1 and that's Killer Instinct but I really don't want to get an X1 at launch. #firstworldproblems

I'm disappointed in all the launch titles for both, really. I'm not making the jump until Destiny and/or Division for PS4 or Sunset Overdrive for XBO.

Sad to say that Killzone is currently the top contender for first next-gen game I'll own. I liked Killzone 2 quite a bit I guess. Is the third one worth playing?
