Anyone else grab the Mario Bros Game & Watch?

Pretty happy with it. I have a ton of affection for Game and Watch tho. Still have my old Donkey Kong Jr one.

It's a pretty slick package. Well designed with the slip cover. The screen and sound shocked me with how good they were. Mario, Lost Levels and Ball. I'll leave it to you to decide if it's worth 50 bucks.

Bummer for me is that this doesn't have the classic G&W kickstand! Wanted to leave this in clock mode on my desk, but without the kickstand you just can't really.

I got mine yesterday from online store. Didnt open it yet, package looks too neat as is.

I'm waiting if they find easy way to mod it, would be cool small nes machine.

I think demand was over anticipated (with good reason) but these are still pretty easy to get. They're still not sold out on Amazon if anyone wants one.

Yup got two of them and i love em' my uk one is here first and my japanese one has been delivered to my po box in japan, grew up with the original game & watches but only had some of the basic ones never even seen the panorama ones and the other fancy models. Really wish Nintendo would re-release them all. They clearly have the manufacturing ability to do so as they released ball for club nintendo members & they just made this one. While the games are basic as hell they have a timeless abstract retro charm.

Mine resides on a specially made stand that i for it i got off ebay

It sits under my tv replacing my nixie tube clock as the main timepiece in my room now i power it via a flush fitting usb C cable that i power from the usb socket on the tv. Love how the sky changes colour as the day proceeds as the sun sets the colours keeep changing till they are at night. Quite a few gradients.

That is super cool. I'm sure you could make a stand by simply cutting up a business card if you are so inclined. Or 3d print one. That would make such a dope clock.

This or the Game Gear Micro.
This is actually playable. The GG micro isn't. Also, this is a Nintendo product in "limited quantities". No doubt will be a collectors piece. Has a stand. Serves as a clock. Two Mario games. The old G&W game "ball".

Edit: apparently no stand comes with. But can be bought as shown below. But you knew this

Although, surely you jest?

That looks great, don't see any more of them on there but I'll keep an eye out

I'm kind of the target demographic for this (love G&W, love retro Nintendo in general, love little weird gadgets) and I don't begrudge them making something like this - it's obviously quite popular and they are all over my feed - but there's enough to keep me away between price, the look of the device (I love G&W look in general, but the red and gold always puts me off - I know it is supposed to harken back to classic Famicom, but still). If they loaded this thing with just a FEW legit-feeling G&W games I would have definitely picked it up, just Ball isn't really going to do it for me. I'm fine with my tiny GBA Micro with a flashcart with NES roms on it for tiniest portable gaming.

This is in Japanese but you can google translate it. Nintendo has listed a load of the secrets in the G&W so if you want to see how to do some of them then you can see here.

Yea got mine yesterday. So much strong nostalgia with it. My dad used to buy one for me every year at the airport whenever we flew somewhere, just to have something to play while on the plane. Great memories..

I was hoping we'd unlock more G&W games, but still cool nevertheless.

Makes me wonder if Nintendo really did grant my fantasy wish re-release all the old gen G&W models if they would acually sell in 2020 as i'm not sure kids nowadays would see the appeal and would there be enough adults really wanting to go re play them. But i'm not gonna lie i'd love to own a full set but there's no way my bank balance can afford to do it with the originals as they have shot up in price for quite some time now. Even in Japan they go for crazy premiums especially for the ones that only got released in the west as not every G&W made it to Japan and vice versa.

Glad I saw your thread. I was interested in getting one and forgot they launched today. Ended up ordering one for the kids for Christmas. Will be a cool little unexpected gadget for them.

I saw gamexplain video and apparently it says you need to use a Nintendo charger which is quite high powered if it refers to the Switch charger...

Don't get quite so down, dude. Ordered mine pretty close to the reveal and here in Australia I have no idea when it will arrive.

Soooo there's gonna be a Zelda one of these next year right?
I'd like to think so but I doubt it. They already had the Ball Game & Watch game remade for the previous Japan Club Nintendo machine. They didn't do anything for the Mario Game & Watch games. Seemingly using a slightly modified Club Nintendo release mold.

I'd love a Zelda dual screen Game and Watch. Always wondered why they never released Game & Watch remakes on 3DS eShop.

So much of Nintendo's back catalog has been lost to time and aging hardware. There are a ton of thingsI'd buy.

Absolutely. It's not like Nintendo couldn't manufacture and re-release their entire game and watch run. It would be very fucking lucrative. It's just money on the table.

They could honestly just simulate all of them on Switch. There is plenty of screen real estate and it wouldn't be too difficult to pull off. Fans have created simulators for a ton of Game & Watch and the old Tiger handhelds.

Despite the mad scramble to find them (even though it's been available on Amazon for a while), it's just kinda wild to me to spend $50 to play a 35 year old game that I've been able to play portably for 20 years on mostly better hardware.

If it leaned more into the "clock" aspect that also happened to play Super Mario Bros, I would probably be more interested.

As it stands, it's like a $20 stocking stuffer to me and not really worth $50.

Yeah dude . It's just they could rake in even more cash for a physical run. But it's not like they're hurting financially.

Yeah it will, thats exactly how im powering mine. Not using a charger just a 3rd party right angle usb c cable. Works perfectly fine plugged into tv usb port.
