Anyone else mostly play their portables at home?

Home seems to be the only place I can play and fully enjoy it. Busses are crowded and often too bumpy for me to fully enjoy playing. If I'm carpooling or going a long distance with others, I prefer to talk to them over playing by myself. The only viable place I could understand otherwise, is in a support type job or night shifts, where it's just you, and they let you do whatever when you don't have calls.

It's the only place I play. I don't really have the luxury of public transportation (if you call it a luxury), and I can't ever see myself playing games at work or anywhere else, so yea I only play portables at home.

It's why I like my PSP GO with the dock and tv-out cable. It allows me to play the PSP on the TV with minimal fuss, and if I want to lounge in the backyard with it, that's not a big deal either.

90% of my GBA/DS/3DS time has been at home. The rest is during some trips. Ferries, planes, weekend sojourns, etc. Otherwise I can never really justify taking it out of the house.

...maybe with Fire Emblem 3DS after it inevitably consumes me.

I play my portables at hone, while travelling by train (as those are usually more than 1 hour long) and when I'm visiting relatives for longer than a day.

95% of the time I'm playing a portable it's at home, yeah.

Usually when the wife has the TV, or in bed before going to sleep, or in the kitchen while I cook.

I do travel somewhat often for work via train and plane, but I almost never bust out the 3DS because I'm self-conscious about playing video games in public.

If I had a long daily commute it might be different.

Yes, and reclining, not in the bathroom. I wouldn't even take them outside, as I'd rather put away some reading or music than gameplay in the brief time I'm sitting around. Game quality determines my home play time, not device.

Nothing beats a game like 999, hotel dusk or the Ace Attorney series to play in bed before falling asleep.

Pretty much. In bed, on the toliet, in the living room, etc.

But I do take it with me and play outside the house occasionally.

I play games on my iPod throughout the workday all the time. It's quick and descrete.

I wouldn't be caught dead playing my DS or PSP outside of the home. I am 28 and prefer to be socially accepted when I'm out.

I drive to work, which is ten minutes from home, so besides playing on my lunch break, playing at home is my only other option. I've found that I enjoy my portables more if I play while I cook/watch TV. I can never focus on one thing anyways, so it's a great time to multitask.

I'm usually the one driving or I'm doing something when I'm out and about so the only time I have to play is at home. Well, and at the airport and on airplanes.

Sure. I play them all over my house. I love having the freedom to move from room to room, especially to play while I'm cooking.

Yup. The only device I take on the go is my iPod Touch and my cell phone. Someday I'll get a smartphone and it'll be just that.

Pretty much all of my portable gaming is done at home. My PSP is hooked up to my reciever for better sound, and always plugged into the AC adapter. It never leaves its spot. My 3DS is just about the same, but I will bring it on vacation.

Home only. My kids will play on car trips. I can't remember the last time I played my PSP or DS when I WASN'T at home.

I play my portables pretty much everywhere but home. Unless I'm aching to play a portable game that I simply cannot play any other way (I.E. Monster Hunter or something) I'd much rather play my PC/PS3 when I'm at home and my PSP when I'm on the go.

You bathroom players scare the shit out of me. There's not enough time for me to even get from boot-up to title screen while I do my business. Also, afraid of accidentally dropping it into the throne, hehe.

I can't stand playing a portable inside a vehicle. Makes me too naseaus. All my gaming is done at home. The only times I play outside is during my lunch break at work or if I know there's going to be a lengthy boring event.

I don't feel shame busting out my DS in public. It's just inconvenient now when I already have a Galaxy S2.

I really don't have time to play outside the house. I drive everywhere too. I guess I could go play at the park or something, but it's starting to get cold outside. I just lay back and play in bed.

When I was still at college, I would play in the commuter's lounge and around the campus. Now I pretty much only play at home or during a long car ride.

I pretty much only play my portables at home. Occasionally if I'm really into something I'll bring it to the laundry mat, but I guess maybe I don't go to enough places where I feel I'll have time to play something. Maybe it's just cause I mainly play RPGs.

i don't tend to play games away from home, including on phones. i like handhelds to get in and get out with suspend which fits more situations. instant on and off fits all the distractions and interruptions I get.

i tend to play "home" console/pc games in bursts which requires a big block of time. i can get lost in handheld games sometimes but i can also get in hours from random bits of disconnected free time

edit: btw most people playing phone games play at home too

I'm pretty sure 99.9% of people in the U.S. do this. We don't live in the kind of culture where we're able to play otherwise usually.

I mostly play at work nowadays. Instead of smoke breaks between tasks, I play a few minutes. I just finished The Adventure of Link today at work in fact. People who visit my cubicle are always jealous.

That's why handhelds can kindly gtfo.
Robbing me of my Paper Mario series? That's going too far.

I do but that's mostly because I'm an anti-social shut-in who is afraid of natural light.
Hey, me too! We should hang out.

So I can play a whopping 30 seconds it takes me to take a dump? hmm...
Relax, man. Relax. Take your time. Enjoy the experience.

It's pretty difficult to play more portable games while I'm not at home. I feel like I'm missing out on at least half the experience, I can't hear the music, I'm heavily distracted, I can't focus on large amounts of dialogue. Gaming on the bus is fine when it's extra long and bored, but to me handhelds are mainly for playing in bed, as a pre-sleepytime activity.

I have probably mastered the art of Pokemon grinding while on the edge of consciousness.

Except for when I was a kid, I've never played portables outside my house. But that's mostly because I just can't concentrate on the game when there's people and noise all around me.

Yeah I rarely play outside the home. Handheld gaming just before bed is perfect, just as I'm about to fall asleep I put the game aside and I'm out within a couple minutes. You have the added benefit of being completely immersed in the game thanks to all lights being off and no distracting noises coming from anywhere else.
