Anyone else sticking with their old Nintendo DS?

My fat DS is beautiful. And because it's a white one I imported from Japan people now ask me on the train or wherever if it's a DS Lite.

That's good enough for me! :lol

This whole comparison reminds me of TFC:

At first I didn't think the difference was that big ... until you start to see more games. The brighter screens also have a practical purpose -- the system is actually playable in bright sunlight.

The design is just so much better too ... so much better looking.

The only thing I like better about the old DS is the d-pad is bigger on it, but you get used to the one on the new DS Lite. The stylus is waaaaaaaaaaay better on the DS Lite.

There's also a pretty substantial gain in battery life.

Just put your old one next to the new one.

On average it's 7.8 secs before the original finds it way across the room into your bin.

I traded my old DS in along with Zelda Four Swords (GBA) and a couple old, unplayed GC games. Ended up paying 26 dollars for the Lite upgrade. The screens are beautiful.
The store won...

It's not really a thread to convince me. More like I'm trying to get an idea why people are blasting the old DS all of a sudden when I don't see much difference between the two outside of the smaller package.

If anything, I won't be getting a DS lite and I'll probably sell my DS. I really don't play it all that often anymore.
Well. if you don't even like the platform that much, that would explain some of your indifference towards the DSL.
Just the simple fact that it's smaller and lighter is a very big incentive for me to buy it.
If you can't bring your portable console with you easily, without having to carry it in a bag or making your pants bulge way out in the wrong places, then you aren't going to use it very much.
Also wipping it out in puplic is going to fell a lot better.
It really isn't that expensive if you sell your old DS and maybe a game or two, that you don't play anymore, then it should cost you close to or less than a new game.

I picked up a Lite, but I won't be parting with my platinum DS. Thought about trading it in for store credit or ebay'ing it, but it's got too much sentimental value. It was the gift my fiance got me our first Christmas together. :)

I sampled the lite at TrU playing NSMB and it was indeed nice and bright.

However, I'm perfectly content with my old DS, even come to like the chunky industrial feel of it. It has many more charge cycles to go before retirement.

I'm sticking with my original model. I have no interest in trying to impress trendwhores on the internet with marginally-improved versions of hardware I already own.

Who are we going to impress online? Everyone's uncool on the internet.

The screens are so much better and the system is lighter, smaller, and easier to hold with one hand (for games like Metroid). Using an old DS sucks now.

Everyone has to decide for themselves if the better screens, buttons, form factor, etc. are worth it for them. For me it was a no-brainer.
