Anyone ever date their stylist?

I cut my own hair...then again, it always looks like shit. But I don't have to pay.

I feel like I win! :lol

So the question of wanting to date myself would be kinda tricky,

I can't date my stylist.

who the fuck has a stylist?
I have a stylist but only because it's a family business that my aunt and two cousins are in. So to follow that line of thought, no, I've never dated my stylist.

How'd that work? Not that I could I'm in a relationship. I just get this vibe from her. She's really friendly and always asks me what I'm doing on my day off. Yesterday she said she was going to drop by work to give a hard time. Every time I go see her she gives me a full body hug before I leave.

So anyways she could get it if she threw it at me. Just curious if anyone's dated their stylist and how that worked out.
You're going to have that with any stylist, as far as I've ever known it. Their job requires them (and a lot of them like this part of their job) to be overly talkative and even flirtatious with their clients. When my cousins can't do my hair and they have one of the other girls do it I always find it really sensual too, to have a pretty girl run her hands through your hair, being talkative and basically being at your beck and call while you're in her chair can be quite sexual. I would chalk it up to that and you misreading her, she's not giving you signals, just trying to make sure you come back to her. Seriously, they are all that way and I've known dozens.

Just to let you know something else, if you make a move on her and she shoots you down they will talk about it in there for a long, long time afterwards. The girls that work at my aunt's shop think it's really creepy when a client makes a pass at them, for the most part, and will definitely be laughing about it when you leave. So pick your battles wisely and be sure.

ok so shes your barber/hairdresser

pretty wierd calling your haircutter a "stylist" i didnt know wtf you were talking about:lol
well, aren't you just the most sheltered little thing :)

To the OP: How is this any different from any other relationship that stems from an originally business relationship

To the people here confused about the term "stylist": Stylist is a job title. Get over it. Hairdresser is also Stylist. Barber is a masculine title, restricted for use solely for men.

My dad was a barber, the difference between a stylist and a barber is usually the training-there are male and female barbers, though the differences between stylist/barber are becoming less apparent with the fact that most guys don't get straight razor shaves and whatnot (you need a special license to use one) though there are some places that still do, having watched the process I would recommend it, just make sure the guy is very experienced. There aren't many barbers schools around now so my dad did hair stylist training, which worked out since dudes these days might want a quick color touch up on the hair/beard. My favorite part of going to the hair stylist is the head massage and being spoiled a bit for a little while, it's a stylist job to be friendly and attentive (bring coffee, magazines, make small talk etc.), which can be misconstrued as flirting, even I blush at the flattery though- whether the stylist if male or female they- need the tips .

God damn hot chicks massaging your head and giving you coffee while flirting with you? This sounds pretty good no matter how metrosexual it is.

I feel really bad for your girlfriend right now.

QFT. I can't believe the nerd-hate in this thread. I spend $20 for a haircut (including tip) and the lowest I could possibly pay in NYC is around $15.

Well, what do you expect, we're on a gaming forum. Lots of people here need to get out of the house more.

I can't go to normal hair places because they don't know how to cut Asian hair so I always have to go to Chinese/Japanese salons with, yes, stylists.

What the fuck is a full body hug? A hug is a hug, unless like normally people just sort of lean into you and only wrap their arms round you, in which case shower more or something.

I'll go to anywhere that can give a decent fade, which is sometimes frustrating because nooone in my hometown can do one properly.

I've been going to a stylist where I am now (on a recommendation from a friend). She's gorgeous, but taken. I'd much rather pay $20 for a scalp rub and some bouncing titties then pay $12 and hear my old barber ask how my family is in broken English.

Kinda how a kiss is kiss right? no difference at all they're all exactly the same.

i thought stylists were people that toldju what to wear and stuff?

i get my hair cut at aveda for like 30 bucks and it always comes out amazing. kinda steep but damn its worth it. havent been to a barbershop since middle school..

Dude, "full body hug" sounds like a 5 year old describing walking in on their parents screwing.

You can't blame people for calling you out on that.

His stylist.... :lol :lol :lol

Unless your hairdresser follows you around and selects your outfit for red carpet events, she's just your fucking hairdresser OP. :lol

i used to be a Great Clips guy, because of the price alone, but the fuckers in this part of the state couldn't seem to cut my hair right to save their lives, so I switched to a stylist.

Do I feel a little weird having my hair cut in a salon surrounded by women? yeah

Does my hair look better and can I depend on a CONSISTENT haircut? FUCK YEAH

Must be an American thing.

My hairdressers all do scalp massages and peppermint treatments with all the metro frills, they cost way too much and go overboard with service but none of them are my 'stylists', they're still just hairdressers until they start picking out what I'm going to wear to an event.

Stylist to me means someone who does the whole look. Hair, wardrobe, makeup, etc. Hairdresser does the hair, or a barber.

yeah thats exactly what i thought also... i had "sex in the city" visions before i entered this thread.

Back when I got haircuts, I went to a barbershop with sports memorabilia on the wall and Playboys in the magazine rack. Now, I just shave my head - it's a lot easier.

i've been to a male hair stylist a few times. He was very consistent and i like the wash and rinse he does afterwards. i'd go to him more often if i didn't have to schedule appointments for what's more or less a basic haircut.

They just opened up one by me. I think I'm going to give it a shot. I normally go to a crappy chain hair place that they have in wallmarts (although mine is not in a wallmart). They can't cut worth shit, except for 1 really hot girl that works there. This girl spends like 3x the amount of time that everyone else does, even though my hair cut is very simple. The problem is, this isn't the kind of place that people request their hair cutter, so I would feel very weird to actually request her, so even though I have her schedule pretty much figured out on my own (pathetic I know), I still only get her about 50% of the time. So yes I plan on giving Sports Clips a try.

I am willing to spend whatever it costs to get a decent hair cut, however I do not live in a very metrosexual area so my options are pretty limited.
Yes, because spending the time memorize her schedule and still only get her roughly half the time is less weird than just requesting for her. It's your money and time -- if you want to wait for her specifically then what's so hard about that?
