Anyone ever go on a trip solo?

I went to Japan 3 times on my own. Each trip lasted around 1-3 months. It's very easy once you get used to it. Do a lot of planning, book most things from the internet, bring a map, etc.

I think I'm going to go for it!

If the OP was good at that he probably wouldn't be travelling solo.

Actually, I'm pretty chill. Not a big deal.

I am a bit quiet, but don't have major issues striking it up with random people.

All the time.

Berlin, Warsaw, Moscow, Budapest, Bucharest, Vienna, Paris, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Beijing, Singapore, etc.

You get used to it. Learn to be a playa, pick women up in hotel bars, do the one night thing, and you really learn about yourself.

I walk an empty road.
The only one that I have ever known.
Don't know where it goes,
but I'm the only one and I walk alone....

I went to the Big Island for ten days, ate Plate Lunches every day, had leftovers for dinner. Got up when I felt like it, went to bed when I liked. Did dangerous hikes. Swam with Manta rays at midnight. Got right up to the lava flow. Snorkeled with turtles and dolphins. Met nice people. Rode motorbike. Off-roaded in Jeep. Watched stars at night. read a ton of books. Drank girl drinks.

Best vacation ever.

Nope, I was proud of myself last weekend when I went to a 2 day music festival by myself... baby steps, I guess. Next year I am planning on going to Japan by myself, since the only person I know who has the financial reserves to go with me is a horrible travel partner.

OuterWorldVoice: Your vacation was sounding good, then you had to go mention you went snorkeling with (UGH) dolphins :P

After traveling around the country following the Phil and Friends tour in 99' I had to hitchhike from damn near the Upper Peninsula in Michigan all the way to Naples Florida. Took 2 1/2 weeks and I almost froze to death in Kentucky. I wouldn't recommend it.

I'm about to do so for the first time. In 2 weeks I will be on a plane going to Japan for 46 days and I'm really excited about it :) It's been a long time I went on vacation and now was the perfect time to do so since I finished school and quit my part time job.

First time going alone on a vacation and also for such a period, longest might have been 2 weeks or so. So yeah i'm excited but it's also a little bit scary but in a good way of course. I just see it as a challenge to do something like this and it will be a healthy experience.

I don't mind going alone really and I think I will meet some nice people at the hostels.

A few times. I fact, I went to Beijing and Shanghai mostly solo last week, and was mostly solo in Singapore two weeks ago as well. I was on my own in terms of hotel and on the days I didn't meet my friends. It's not too bad, but it is better to have company.

Going alone is the best.

Don't have to worry about the shit you do on vacation affecting your standing amongst your friends when you come back.

I will, hopefully, be going to San Francisco before the end of the year, by myself. Would I like to chill with people who know the city? Sure. Of course. Is it really that big a deal if I don't though? No.

Sometimes wandering around on your own is part of the fun.

Was thinking of going to Amsterdam solo, but then considering how messed up I would get I decided to take another friend with me. Cannot fucking wait.

I've traveled across eurasia solo and in groups. Both is fun and different.

Countries Ive been solo: China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Kazakstan, Russia, Belarus, Thailand

Countries with friends: China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore
