I know it's dog food, but every time I see it at the store I want to get some. They even have a peanut butter and bacon flavor, or bacon and cheese.

Dude, dog food is not formulated for humans at all. In fact, that brand of dog food is utterly shit. Full of chemicals, byproducts and useless fillers.

All the big name treats and food are so disgusting and full of such poor ingredients.

Anyone ever eat those dog cookies they sell at pet food stores? They look just like Oreos and Pecan sandies, sure could fool me.

Aw, it would have been so nice to just have a bag of bacon to bring with me on the go.

Human food snobs all up in here.

Beggin strips are alright.

Initial bacon byproduct and fat preserved with sodium nitrite and BHA. Base ingredients for additional additives include ground wheat, corn gluten meal, wheat flour, ground yellow corn, water, sugar, glycerin, soybean meal, hydrogenated starch hydrolysate, meat phosphoric acid, sorbic acid, natural and artificial smoke flavors, artificial coloring may also be added.

It's some of the worst stuff you can feed a pet. It's why it's dirt cheap. It's essentially useless trash that's artificially flavored to make your dog go crazy.

Begging Strip is not food, is a treat. It even says on the package that is not replacing food and you shouldn't give them too much daily. My sister doesn't care though and her Dogs are fat as fuck.

I've always assumed they consisted of meat they can't legally put in hot dogs and Vienna sausages (think about THAT one) and mostly unhealthy fillers... So no I have not eaten Beggin' Strips.

I've never tried it, but a friend of mine used to love pretty much any kind of dog or cat treats for whatever reason. I haven't seen him do it anytime recently, but pretty sure he still does it. So strange.

Because a Snicker's bar is so good for us?

Its supposed to be something that's a treat, not their entire diet.

has anyone tried bully sticks?

they're supposedly all natural and don't have all the artificial additives of beggin strips. OP might want to look into it.

Isn't there a law that says all pet food must be edible for human consumption?

No. In fact, most cheap dog food even says a lot of their ingredients are not required nutrients as per AAFCO guidelines.

It's a bit better in the US than Canada. A lot of treats are now coming from China where things like chicken are treated with irradiation and other things. Try and buy as many treats that say Made in the USA as possible. And always read ingredients. Try to avoid all grains. Rice may be okay but definitely not corn, gluten, etc.

Don't dog eat food.

lmao, I don't know why this simple statement is so funny but it is. I buy these for my girlfriend's dogs and they LOVE them. I smell in the bag every now and then and sometimes I'm tempted, never tried them though.

Seriously, some dog treats just smell so good.

I actually got somebody I used to work with to try one once. I bought 'em, arranged 'em on a plate, and despite Beggin' Strips resembling plastic toy bacon more than actual bacon, I nagged a known 'zany' coworker into trying a tiny piece.

His review was not positive.

A snickers bar is chocolate, sure it contains a lot of chemicals and ingredients but not even comparable to cheap dog food or treats. Take a look at dog food people feed to their pets all day. Compare the ingredients in kibble to these treats. Virtually the same. So even if you're giving something to your dog, why give him such shit? He'd be better off if you fed him some baby carrots instead.
