Unless it's reviewed by Dan Hsu.

It accepts input from all devices simultaneously, so you can even use the left side of the controller for analog movement and the mouse for aiming, though it would take some creative remapping.

Bad sign for mod communityDoctorWho said:Picked it up at EB and have yet to play it. The guy working there is psyched to play it and he mentioned that nobody has been picking up the PC version but they had a whole bunch of orders for the PS3 version. So hopefully that is a good sign.

Looks great on PS3. While my PC isn't the fastest, I was able to make a direct comparison.
Does anyone know if the PC demo supports the full graphics fidelity of the final game? Based on the demo, the PS3 version is better looking. Some aspects of the lighting looked nicer on PS3 and I love the motion blur effect (especially when used with a mouse). Can you enable motion blur on the PC in the full game? The rest of the graphical areas are the same as the highest settings on the PC. No reductions were made and the game (thus far) has never dropped from 30 fps (with v-sync). Thanks to the motion blur, it actually feels awesome at 30 fps. The texture work is also really really good (better than Gears of War, I'd say, in terms of actual resolution). Image quality is also excellent. No AA (as expected), but AF is in use.
I'm also a fan of the slightly lower play speed. I thought it would bother me, but no, it's very nice and works well. It really isn't that much slower even (just enough to make gamepad play more enjoyable).
The feature set seems to be the same as the PC version all the way across the board. It plays OK with a pad, but I quickly realized that UT requires a mouse and keyboard. As such, I've been using such a config and it feels great.
Of note, I am using a USB hub plugged into the PS3 with the mouse and keyboard plugged into it (this acts as an extension). I was surprised that it worked so well. Heck, the keyboard I'm using for this game is a German keyboard (all I had on hand) and it's just fine (though treated as a US keyboard).
The game does a small HDD installation (takes about 20 seconds) when you first start up, but load times between matches are very short (faster than my PC, but again, my PC isn't that hot right now). It probably takes a good 10 seconds maybe? Regardless, it feels quick. There is texture draw-in when the match first starts up (as there is on my PC), but it quickly fades and does not occur during the match.
So, yeah, it's a fantastic port. It is quite possibly the finest PC to console effort I've yet to encounter.

granted that is slower paced but it has a lot more detail and the framerate is 30fps too
Modders should care whether the game they're working on sells or not. Look at Dystopia, or the other HL2 (and HL2 sold like a million+) mods. Most multiplayer mods suffer from a dying community and have like 4+ active servers. Why mod for a game no one will play? Not every mod is CS, DoD. I'm just saying, will we see UT3 mods? Of course. But will the mod community be as active as UT04?chubigans said:The mod fans already have their copy, no doubt.

Gears really isn't that much more detailed, though. Early PS3 builds were all 60 fps too, but I'm sure it was locked to support the larger game types with lots of players (Warfare mode). They should have offered a framerate unlock option or something for smaller matches.FiRez said:Gears?

Thanks. I always trust yours as well, so I'm happy to return the favor.Lovely impressions I can trust 100%![]()
