Donkey Kong mashup album by Norwegian Recycling

Album description said:
This is my tribute to the Donkey Kong Country series on the SNES, but mainly to the man behind the great soundtrack, David Wise. He is one of my favorite musicproducers and have been a huge inspiration to me. All the tracks on the album are based on a sample from the soundtrack. Then I have mashed these samples to either hip hop or RnB acapellas. On top of this i have added alot of my own production like drumloops, basslines, effects, samples and synths. I also have to thank "Pinkoloss", an amazingly talented friend of mine, for making the fabulous cover art. I recommend you to visit his blog (adress is above).

Karma Police with the lyrics of "A Day in the Life" by The Beatles mashed together gives you...

Karma in the Life:

For the longest time I couldn't even remember how the original song went. I still can't! This is the tune I go to when I think of the song Life.

Then there's "Imagine the Game" by John Lennon and Freddie Mercury:

DJ Matt Hite: Jarvis Cocker Vs Mazzy Star, "Into U" (probably my favorite of all)
was created by Richard X, then used by that guy in his DJ mix.

And the guy who did this

Dopplebanger: The Rapture Vs Mobb Deep, "Twisted Sister" (for hip-hop being used in mashes, I think it's tough to beat this one, buuut Jay-Z Vs Jimi Hendrix comes pretty damn close.)
is very nice, and he has many other good mash-ups. That's all.

Mashups are novel, but I'm yet to hear one that is better than any of the originals it is using.

I've come up with about 20 great mashup combinations, but there's 2 problems:

1) I never write them down, and completely forget.
2) I have no music arrangement skills.

i normally hate mashups, but i recently heard a Ladytron vs. Johnny Cash version of Man Comes Around in Blue Jeans, and it was fuckin brilliant. couldn't find it online, sadly.

i really like a lot of hood internet mashups, but at the same time i think they're just like flooding the market with a lot of crap too, which sort of ruins things

it also annoys me that hood internet mashes up like obscure indie crap with hip hop, mashups are at their most epic i think when they're mashing together two really well known songs that are at opposite sides of the musical spectrum

edit2: also there's this really awesome doppelbanger mix called 'dark side of the gooom' that is like awesome gooom tracks artists vs. hip hop, and it is totally epic (at least the first half, then it sort of falls apart)

I find most modern mashups to be pretty boring and trivial.
I think people would not be so amazed with them if they understood chord progressions.

But DJ Z-Trip an DJ P's Uneasy Listening was pretty damn fun at the time (and as always with Z-trip, live it was fuck awesome).

You can still download it for free -

His shit isn't really mashups/blends though.

I'm so sorry that I am months late in this response but damn are you retarded

To me, Girl Talk is the pinnacle of mashups. I would love to learn how to do mashups properly. I've tried numerous times but things just don't come out the way I'd like.
