Anyone here play Yu-Gi-Oh?

I use to duel with my brother all the time during the Yugi story era of the TV show. We loved it, and had the GBA games etc.

The games were a great way to 'understand' the rules heh.

I always loved collecting cards, but these were ones I could collect AND play a fun game with against my little brother. :D We would argue about all sorts of stuff during them lol, and I'd make them dramatic like the show, haha he just laughed at me.

Great memories.

I want a bloody nice Vita version. I think they could do some sexy things with the touch screen and the rear touch pad.

Oh lord, a Vita edition would be sexy. And I have the problem of only having a PSP Go, so I can't really "import" games really.

I used to play. They just keep coming up with wackier and wackier shit for that game. I tried playing again, but the only people who play anymore are... not people you'd want to play with. In my area, anyway.

I think Tagforce 6 was actually released on PSN in Japan.

If it does get localized, who knows.

I don't see how that could possibly be more fun.
You play what you have and the game flows better imo. Plus, it's fun when your opponent plays a beast and thinks they are going to win and then you bust out the trap cards ..... lol

I might get back into the game sometime.

I ran a sick REDMD > Shining Star Dragon deck, but now with this B.S with Yugioh Zexal, I ragequit before Exceed Summons came into play.

Are synchros/fusions now pointless? Not sure how much exceeds change the game.

Played from USA launch until late 2006.

I love it because it's the Call of Duty of TCGs. The game is simple, fast paced, and everything is overpowered. Batshit crazy stuff every turn. Shame my scene died.

No of course not.

Only oddball monster that's pointless are most Ritual monsters.

A good portion of Fusions are pointless, but Fusions still are viable and easy to put on the field due to cards like Future Fusion and Dragon's Mirror for example. There's a lot of fusions for elemental heroes, and there's also fusion cards that don't require Polymerization to summon.

*sigh* I picked it up like a month ago. One of my friends/co-workers brought in his cards just for fun, aaaaaaaand...like everyone at our place of business plays and we've bought like $300 worth of cards already :/

Dragons have little support though so Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon isn't that strong of a card right now. Maybe when Photon Shockwave and the Dragonic Legion Structure Deck release they'll be more competitive.

Eh, I don't know about competitive play right now but the card itself is really awesome in a small, tight deck that tries to deal as much damage as possible quickly. At least it is in the videogames!

Alright, but how much do exceed summons change the game? It's just another strategy to counter against like every other gimmick they put in yugioh, but i'd like to know how fierce they are.

My REDMD dragon deck is sick. It focuses on spamming the field with beatsticks and can even summon shining star dragon in a single turn if I have the right hand. But it has its weaknesses.

Gonna post my in-progress deck here, maybe get some advice on it. Posted it on Pojo and didn't get many responses, probably cause there isn't much support for Gagaga Magician yet.

Gagaga/Machina Deck

kwwOK.jpg

Monsters: 25
3x Gagaga Magician
3x Gagaga Girl
3x Cyber Dragon
3x Machina Fortress
3x Machina Gearframe
3x Green Gadget
3x Red Gadget
3x Yellow Gadget
1x Gorz the Emissary of Darkness

Spells: 8
2x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Pot of Avarice
1x Book of Moon
1x Dark Hole
1x Limiter Removal
1x Heavy Storm
1x Monster Reborn

Traps: 7
2x Gagaga Guard
1x Bottomless Trap Hole
1x Tools of the Bandit
1x Solemn Judgment
1x Mirror Force
1x Call Of The Haunted

Total: 40

Extra Deck:
2x Chimeratech Fortress Dragon
2x Number 7: Lucky Stripe
2x Number 11: Big Eye
2x Tiras, Keeper of Genesis
2x Daigusto Emeral
2x Lavalval Chain
1x Number 19: Freezerdon
1x Number 39: Utopia
1x Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon

The base idea is bringing Number 7: Lucky Stripe on the field for massive trolling, at least iniatially. It evolved from that to putting some other super powerful monsters, and managing my gadgets.

Daigusto Emeral and Lavalval Chain are in here as main support for both my machines and Gagaga Magician. I can use Daigusto Emeral to shove my gadgets (and other monsters) back into my deck with ease, and I can use Lavalval Chain's two effects to either bring Gagaga Magician/Machina Fortress to the top of my deck or put Machina Fortress into the graveyard so I can summon him with my gadgets.

What was the name of that one ritual monster with like 0/0 stats and he looks like a blue demon thing with eyes all over his body?

Relinquished. He used to be my favorite monster.

He's almost useless now because of synchro monsters, don't even try to use him. It's sad really. The "better" version of Relinquished is dark synchro Underground Arachne which almost does the same thing.

Honestly Exceed monsters are pretty much a gimmick for the new anime, but their effects don't really far eclipse the best synchro monsters or anything like that. They're just relatively easy to get on the field and brings balance to older style decks.

For example I have a Gravekeeper's deck that would be impossible to put any tuner monsters in to synchro. I have Stardust Dragon in it, but only for Malefic Stardust Dragon or Starlight Road. This puts it at odds with a deck full of powerful synchro monsters. Since Exceed monsters, however, I've been able to push out powerful monsters on the field to fight synchro monsters like Wind-up Zenmaines for example. It also helps me cause a part of my deck is focused on having Gravekeeper's in the Graveyard. I don't use Exceed monsters in this deck very much mind you, but it's nice to know I could go to them if I need to.

Right! And was Relinquished based visually on another monster? I seem to recall like...a purple version of him.

Yeah that's Thousand-Eyes Restrict which was banned. I honestly think they should unban him already and make relinquished relevant again, but oh well.

Here's the "modern day" relinquished:
UndergroundArachnidABPF-EN-ScR-1E.png
, which is effectively useless outside of insect decks.

Also, toon monsters are still relevant and competitive even today, it's surprising really.

Because he locks down the board by himself AND kills shit?

Pokemon was so shit during the first couple of sets. Scyther was ungodly overpowered.
Haha, totally overlooked that first sentence of his description.

I used to rock a pretty damn good Toon deck back in the day. It made good use of this particular card right here.

Due to my absolute rotten luck with it, I ditched Toon Summoned Skull, and never bothered with Toon Dark Magician Girl. Stuck with Toon Goblins and Gemini Elf, and kept one Toon Blue-Eyes in to abuse Scapegoat with.

I played when it first came out. Rocked an old school beat down Earth type deck. Throw out a Gaia power and some decent monsters and you win! Also, this was the greatest life saving card ever

Won me a few local card shop tournaments singlehandedly

Edit: seeing these posts with all these cards makes me realize just how long ago i played.....

Well if it helps most people use the same spells and traps nowadays. There are some staples I don't recognize like Book of Moon, but stuff like Solemn Judgment, Monster Reborn, etc. are still used today.

I did when I was in junior high and the first part of high school. Then they implemented that list of banned cards; since all of them were in my deck and I'm a lazy fuck, I quit playing and started playing more video games.

The REDMD deck I was using in Tagforce 5 was largely a beatstick deck too but with a few things here and there to break it up. Totem Dragon was fun but the the Dragon that when attacked, could be substituted for a level 7 or higher dragon from my graveyard was awesome especially because a lot of my anti-spell/trap cards forced me to discard one to activate. I kept the deck small too so could draw and summon what I needed asap.

OMG.

Back in the day I had the best lockdown deck in town. Exodia Necross for the fucking win. I wish I could remember the combination but it basically made it so no cards (magic trap or monster effect) could be used. It turned into a draw out game. If everything was executed perfectly, they opponent would draw out first.

I still have the deck somewhere. Need to go look for it. Though I am sure half the cards used now are banned in tournament play.

Used to play a lot but stopped around when the gadgets came to NA. Tried to get back in but there's too many new things that it seemed a little overwhelming.

I ran the deck no one liked to play around me....Dragons!!!

When this guy came into play I ran 3 like my life depended on it!!

I fit my lvls in their as well

Over all I loved the game but I retired years ago. Only play the games now.

So my Gagaga/Machina deck has gotten some good results on DN. Can't wait for these cards to come to America cause this is a fun deck to play with. Not the best in the world and still in-progress, but it works and when luck is on your side there's some epic trolling with Number 7: Lucky Stripe.

This is the first deck I've made without any assistance so I'm a bit proud of myself. I only wish I could vary my spell and trap set a little bit. Hopefully when more Gagaga support cards comes out I can make some more decks around this crazy character.

How is the game now since the stuff from GX, 5Ds and Zexal are in?

So which is better Zodiac the forbidden one or the god cards? I always thought Zodiac was better for its immediate attack, and not wait for sacrifice etc...

Zodiac? I think you mean Exodia. Its not an immediate attack, its more a automatic win condition.
