Anyone here still own & game on the original 3DS?

Yup. Cosmo black. I bought it like a month after release. Ambassador 4 lyfe.

I just don't see a reason to upgrade yet. I have a decent backlog on my memory card and it works just fine.

I've never been in the habit of getting a new revision of anything while my current one still works. I didn't upgrade my GBA to an SP, didn't replace my DS with a lite or a DSi, and I'm still using my OG 3DS pretty frequently. If it ever stops working then I'll make the upgrade.

I picked up a n3DS XL today, and after playing on it for an hour or so I intend to use it as little as possible. The eye-tracking is great, but it doesn't make up for the reverse-retina display.

Long live the OG!

e: I really don't understand how people can recommend this. The screen is too large for the resolution. It's brutal.

I mean...I own it but it's very rare that I ever touch it. I just own it cuz I collect Nintendo handhelds. I remember I used it to trade Pokemon with myself a year or so ago and it felt so outdated compared to the XL.

I still have mine. I don't see the point in upgrading to a new system that does exactly the same thing. Going from a wii to a wii u is an upgrade. Going from a PS3 to a PS4 is an upgrade. 3DS to New 3DS... not so much. Waste of cash IMO.

Still rocking my launch day console. As for why I haven't "upgraded", I don't like the XL, plain and simple. I'd gladly fork over my money for a standard size New 3DS XL, but I live in the U.S. and Nintendo decided they don't want my money.

I do have my original aqua blue still. I haven't gotten rid of it due to the New Nintendo 3DS not being released here. I do plan on importing one from Japan along with the Xenoblade face plate.

The real question is whether anyone still owns and games on the original DS.

I kept mine only because I bought the red one and it looks cool.

I traded my 3DS in after buying the new 3DS. There's really no reason to keep both.

I do. I'm not a fan of the XL and I didn't really had a chance to get the New one yet. I'll eventually get it though I guess.

I still have my original 3DS.

I usually don't have any need to upgrade to the newer iterations of any system, unless they break down like my 60 GB PS3 for which I then bought a 160 GB slim PS3. ATM, my original 3DS still works fine.

Of course, I wouldn't mind buying another 3DS in order to play locally with my little sister.

I do, and I love it. Poor student here, recently bought one for cheap from a friend who wanted the new 3DS. I still wouldn't have upgraded if I had had it since launch though, considering I didn't buy a DSlite until my bulky DS got stolen.

I have an OG Black one my dad got me a few weeks after the 3DS launched, I never felt like upgrading cause an XL didn't seem worth it to me. Last month though I finally got a n3DSXL cause my OG 3DS L and R buttons had been slowly dying over the past few months and it made it impossible to play monster hunter. It's still sitting in my dresser though since I couldn't sell it if I wanted to system transfer first and I knew I wouldn't get much for it since it's an OG model and the L button being iffy at times and the R button being 98% dead.

That thing has gone with me a lot places and I'd feel kinda sad just dumping it at a gamestop somewhere.

I do. I prefer the pixel density of the smaller screen, and I like 3D. Living in NA, that only leaves me with one option: the original 3DS. I'd upgrade to a New 3DS if they would release it over here.

Of course I still own and play my OG 3DS. I don't have a lot of money, and the upgrade to a New 3DS seems rather silly to me at this point. Sure, it's not something that I play on everyday, but I still have fun with Sm4sh 3DS every so often.

I mean, if someone could sell me on the N3DS I might consider it, but I'm content with what I've got for now. :)

Have the purple one. I would like to upgrade to a New 3DS XL, but can't justify the price for what I am getting from the upgrade at the moment.

Yep, the black one. It still works fine and I don't have much money, so haven't felt the need to upgrade.
I'm itching to buy the white new 3DS though, but I'm having trouble justifying that kind of purchase.

I want one. I'm not sure to shell out money on the bigass 3DSXL since it's almost triple the price than the original one in my country.

Looks cool and all, but I just want it for Smash 4, and getting a 3DSXL is like half an Xbox One, can't really justify spending so much on it.

FYI - for those on the fence, I did the transfer process today and it's not nearly as bad as everyone says. It's basically the same as it's ever been plus dealing with microSD and a tiny screwdriver.

Takes like 20 minutes if you do your research in advance and know what you're doing. Totally worth upgrading too, the 3D effect in the New 3DS is 1000 times better.

OG Aqua Blue 3DS I got day one. Bought Street Fighter and Dream Trigger. I still have mine because none of the revisions made me want to upgrade. I'm waiting for a good deal to trade it in and get a New 3DS since that's a major step up.

I have the original version, from the price drop/ambassador program.

I never "upgraded" my DS brick either.

Only upgrade was GBA -> GBA SP because that was an actual usability issue.

Still have my OG 3DS, but I prefer my N3DSXL. Fits better in my hands, and improves MH4U, which is the only thing I play any more.

I still have the OG so the kids can play 3DS while I'm on the N3DSXL.

And yes, all versions of the 3DS are loooooong overdue for a resolution upgrade. The screens on these things are just awful compared to any modern phone/tablet. But I keep coming back for the games... the games!

I have OoT Limited OG 3DS and still game on it. Didn't upgrade because it still works and it's pretty. Recently I've encountered some issues though, so I might upgrade soon. The plastic fringe on the d-pad has started coming off, and the volume knob sometimes doesn't work (volume still goes when i turn it all the way down).
I won't be selling it though, it's too pretty. Also, it fits in my pocket, whereas the XLs do not.

Same here. Would never upgrade, love mine so much.

I haven't upgraded because this one still works fine. I'm somewhat interested in a New 3DS XL because of the new features and the possibility of more exclusive games besides Xenoblade (which I already own on Wii) but it's just not important to upgrade right now.

I might upgrade if I can get a special edition, since I've always kind of wanted an SE console, but with the way Majora's Mask's SE went I don't see it happening.

My main handhelds are:
1x Big Grey Original Game Boy
1x Fat Blue Original DS
1x Black Original 3DS (Ambassador)

Never saw a need to upgrade any of them. They all still work perfectly.

Yes I do, I have an OG black Ambassador 3DS,it works perfectly well, I don't see any reason to upgrade. I've got 7 games on physical and a few on digital.

Love my 3DS, it does look outdated but I'll only upgrade with the next gen handled.

My black ambassador 3DS is still my only 3DS. The revisions just don't offer a big enough improvement to convince me to replace it, and Xenoblade isn't much of an incentive as it doesn't offer much that wasn't already part of the Wii game.

Sums up my feelings on the matter perfectly, though I think the nyko battery I bought a few years back is dying. If it doesn't work this afternoon, I'll probably just slap the old battery in, but a new 3ds and transfer.

Aqua Blue Ambassador 3DS here.

Haven't really had a reason to upgrade yet. Small, portable, still in great shape like it was bought yesterday. I'll probably upgrade this summer, not sure yet.

I don't think I'd ever 'upgrade'. The XL types are stupidly big for a portable if I'm taking it out of the house, and if I'm in the house where portability isn't a concern, it seems like a pain in the ass to have to order in an XL-sized CPP (or handles/grips for a New 3DS XL).

yep, I'm still rocking my aqua blue launch unit

I actually did upgrade to the ALBW special edition XL but turns out the XL model is awful so I switched back

I still use the original and don't want an XL.

I have small hands, I don't want the larger screen making older 3DS games slightly uglier, and I think it's just too big in general. Also it's kind of ugly. The system transfer is another obstacle too. I wouldn't want to risk losing anything. I was just going to have separate data and games on a New 3DS.

Because we're not getting the small New 3DS in America I'm not getting a New 3DS. They'd have to release a very compelling (to me) New exclusive to attract me. Xenoblade is definitely not it.

Absolutely, I'm holding on to the original 3Ds until it doesn't work or something happens to it. Main reason is that it actually fits in my pocket, so that rules out the XL or the New 3DS, which only has the XL model in North America. Similar, but related, the resolution on DS games is already a bit stretched on the original 3DS, but is even worse on XL, as I understand it.

I guess the only thing that would make me consider upgrading is if they started making must-play New 3DS exclusives. We don't have any hint of that, though.

I still do. Launch day Aqua Blue 3DS. The super OG.

If Nintendo of America didn't decide to bring only the XL model over, then I probably would've have a N3DS.

My son does, but only because his new new 3ds is awaiting his birthday in a month. I'm playing him at fire emblem awakening at the moment, and the og 3ds looks teeny tiny. And the 3d is gash. He likes the look of the C stick on my new 3dsxl too. I got him pokemon plates

I still have my Aqua blue Ambassador 3DS which I got in June 2011 and it still works great. I've never liked the XL due to its bulky size (I carry my 3DS around in my pocket a lot during my work week) and especially its lower quality screen due to the XL's lower PPI. After recently getting some hands on time with a N3DS XL demo unit (Majora's Mask in store demo at Target), my feelings haven't changed and I refuse to upgrade unless NOA brings over the regular N3DS. I refuse to spend my money on an XL of any kind.
