Thx Bunkum :) Seem to be quite low overall.

Everything drops after X-Mas...Good numbers for 360, we could only imagine how much better they could be without their shortages.

Nintendo 396 k
Sony 451 k
Microsoft 338 k

Ah, well. I'd be interested to see how much the GB Micro sold...but I'll never know.

Not many see the DS number impressive, but I do. Only for the reason that this time January of last year the DS saw a huge drop off... and sold like probably sub 100k I think?

Yeah, of course everything drops. But this seems a bit too much of a drop.

@Javy Jan 05 DS sales were 152k.

Whoa, really? I must be confusing that number with something else? Maybe Feb or Mar of last year?

Feb and Mar were ~273k combined (afaik we never got seperate numbers), perhaps you think of April and May were DS sales were REALLY bad (~70k and ~57k)?

Sony isn't allowed to do awesome. They're supposed to be taken down by Nintendogs, then Mario Kart DS.

Well, we'll just wait for New SMB!
neither machine can exist with one another there must be a FIGHT TO THE DEATH WITH ONLY ONE VICTOR

Don't make this a DS vs PSP thread... The results wouldn't be pretty :P

big numbers for the 360, very close to being the #1 console despite shortages and no new big releases

why do people insist on combining hardware numbers? they are different markets and price points.

Ick, yeah. I was thinking of those two months. Well, atleast I wasn't too far off...

How come people are buying the PSP so much, i mean it has some good games but the DS needs more love in america.

Well, the PSP is catering to the needs of the American gamer pretty well, I think. You can watch movies, play music, and of course play really good games. And if you really want to go further, there's always the homebrew Apps and such to get the most out of that system.

But it's not like the DS is going to dissapear the next night or something. It's doing pretty good, all things considered. Give it time... maybe we might see a Japan-like dominance in the US by the end of the year? You never know with Metroid, Tetris, and the two Brain Trainings that are coming in soon.

just once I would like to see a perfect tie between DS and PSP, just so I could know what would happen.

Xbox360 is selling to those who couldn't buy it during the holyday season because of the shortages.
Nevetheless it still hasn't reached the 1 million units sold mark in the US market.
Nintendowned by Sony.

I dont think it sold well despite its shortage, it sold well DUE to its shortage. People that couldnt buy their kids the new 360 for christmas were most likely still trying to get it in january. And then gamestop\eb was still filling preorders during this time (and probably still in feb)

I hope the PSP continues to outsell the DS in the West, and likewise the DS to the PSP in Japan. Hell, I hope the difference becomes even more pronounced. This way, the PSP will recieve the support it deserves, and the DS will continue to recieve the only things that are worthwhile for it (that being all of the quirky Japanese titles, and Nintendo's games).

Also, it warms the very cockles of my heart to see Nintendo fans protest, as if it were an injustice that the PSP is successful. :) The DS has seriously raised the obnoxiousness of Nintendo fanboys to stratospheric levels.

*spin*

Nintendo sold more handhelds than Sony, so they're winning.

Come again? Didn't they have ~700,00 for launch? With the 250,000 from january, we would be at 950,000 already. And they sold some in december as well.

NPD has Xbox360 at about 600k units at the end of December 2005.
With January sales they are at 850k units.

Many thanks.

Overall, the numbers are horrible IMO. Every single one of them.

December chart:

PS2 ~1.500.000
PSP ~1.120.000

Xbox ~ 415.000
Xbox 360 - 281,441

GBA: 1,213,196
DS ~1.070.000
Cube: 606,423

I wonder how well the Ps3 is going to do in America. Seems that USA loves Sony. :D

Great PSP numbers, for January. I personally know 3 of those new PSP owners, and they all used their tax returns to buy it. :D
