Anyone one else taking a break from Bloodborne to play Dark Souls 2?

Bloodborne was my first "souls like" game and it certainly made me want to buy Dark Souls 2 for my PS4 but I am not sure I want to dive into another game like that so soon when I still have some other games to beat. I am very close to platinuming BB and after that I think I'll beat FF type 0. I'll wait for DS2 to lower in price a little.

I'm planning on finishing Bloodborne then picking up Dark Souls 2. Can't play anything else at the minute.
This is the sane answer.

Bloodborne is my first "Souls" game.

My current plan is:

1. Bloodborne

2. Dark Souls 2

3. Demon's Souls

4. Dark Souls 1

I fucking thought I was going to be playing Type-0 HD and neglecting Bloodborne. It's the total opposite.

Finished Bloodborne Wednesday night, so I'm all ready for my first playthrough of Dark Souls II since I skipped it when it came out last year.

Will still be playing Bloodborne though, Chalice Dungeons aren't gonna clear themselves.

Maybe you can meditate on the B-team and humanoid enemies as well, just to round out all the overstated bullshit that's basically meme-tier dialogue at this point.

lol no. DkS2 has a lot of flaws that put many of the Souls community off. Go anywhere and you will see the same reaction. There's no point mentioning these reason because they have been said so many times by so many people.

I tell ya, going for Bloodborne's platinum has kind of made me not want to play it much more, so things might work out that way. It's kind of opened my eyes to its lack of diversity compared to its Souls brethren.

I played 80 hours of Bloodborne and finished NG+, so now I am blasting through DS2 for the first time.

The bosses are easy on the first run, but it's still an awesome Souls experience.

People blasting DS2 for beijg the weakest link in the series are right, but it's such a small complaint when the game is this good.

Haha!!! Nice one.

Heck no!

Honestly I haven't had the time to get too far in BB during the week, so looking forward to the weekend to dive in deep again. DS2 is on the radar, just waiting to hear Gaf impressions. I was disappoint in the game on PS3, so I'm hoping for great changes. Plus FF Type 0 might slip in first.

Looking forward to playing the DS2 DLC though. I hear it's well done.

I thought about it but I think I am gonna try to finish BB first. Then play the DS1 copy I have on PC that I barely touched. I will be buying DS2 on Ps4 though, might just wait for a price drop :3

Nope. Not only do I think Dark Souls 2 is a disgrace to the series (level design contradicts what my idea of Souls is), I also think Bloodborne is the best out of all of all of them no question. But because I have no self control I'm probably gonna buy it later down the line when the price drops.

I agree. I loved the exploration on my first playthrough, but the cracks start to show as you move through NG+, a second play, or a trophy dive. Anything other than a Str/Skl build has, like, 1 weapon choice... late game. And that choice is bad.

Still one of my favorite games, but people should be mindful of that mid-RPG myopism.

I'd like you to elaborate a little. Not because I disagree with you since I've never played any of the other souls games but I have also been going for the platinum and I noticed that either I got REALLY good at this game or NG+ is pretty easy. Obviously I know all the enemies by now and know how to not get hit by them but it's weird when I am reminded how hard the game is in the forums when I barley die anymore.

It's the same rhetoric you hear out of any trilogy, people blast it to hell and back. TDKR, Return of the Jedi are the weakest parts of their trilogy and people treat it like the worst thing on earth. It's such a weird phenomenon. Even if Dark Souls 2 was objectively the worst game in the series it's still a game worth playing, a lot more than most games.

Picking it up tomorrow but still have to finish BB.

Going to finish on my own then revisit to get the plat once the collectors guide comes out.

Looking forward to playing DS2 though.

I will probably have 80-90 hours and have beaten it when SotFS comes out, so it will be more like moving on.

Nope.

Bloodborne doesn't come out until next thursday for me. Plus I like BB more than DS2 anyway.

Wait... you haven't played it yet, but you like it more?

I wasn't super impressed by Dark Souls 2, but I'm weak and just know I'll be picking it up on PC or PS4 in a few months time. Such is the way with Souls games. I did think vanilla Souls 2 was a solid game and I'm intrigued by new enemy placements, plus DLC content is new for me.

I'll probably be looking for a change of pace after Bloodborne for a while though. These games can be quite... stressful.

I have played DS2 on PS3, I like BB more because of the faster combat.

Ops the first message I typed I meant Dark Souls 2 doesn't come out for me until next thursday.

Played the ever-loving shit out of Dark Souls 1 and 2.
Don't think I can ever play them again.
Enjoyed both, but I'm done... and frankly I think I need a break from the Dark Souls aesthetic for a while.

Loving Bloodborne, though. There are a ton of similarities, but it still feels really fresh to me. Just can't get enough of the art direction and atmosphere.

Several hour into BB and just not feeling it. Have finished all the other Souls games and miss the flexibility and variety of builds and playstyles. Will revisit BB once the loading is more under control for sure though.

Surprisingly ended up spending more time the last week playing Borderlands Collection with friends, which I did not at all expect. Both BB and Pillars I was looking far more forward to but sit in wait.

Nope.

Beat DS2 pretty thoroughly on PC last year. It was a good game but it's my least favorite of the souls series.

I don't think I'd ever want to go back to soul memory and wonky hitboxes.

I loved the first 10 hours or so of BB, but I think I wanna wait until all patches + DLC are out. If I finish it now, I'm not as likely to replay it later. Then Dark Souls 2 some time after that.

I don't get the extreme hate. DS2 maybe the worst souls game but it's still incredible. The online aspects are so much better than anything in BB.

I am curious as to the talk about the ways DS2 betrayed the souls games or is fundememtally flawed. I would like to read about that.

I must not have been THAT bothered with loading times, even though they are unfortunately long.

That said, I'm curious about those jumping between the two games. What do you guys like/dislike?

To those going to DaSII, do you find the wealth of content to be too good to ever do without? I know the lack of such in BB bums me out :(

Nope. Dark Souls 2 was shit. I'll buy the remaster at a bomba discount later on, only because there simply aren't enough RPGs. 60fps doesn't suddenly make the game better than Miyazaki's games. B Team is still inferior.

No. I have had DS2 for around half a year now, and every time I get back into it I can't bring myself to just finish it. Last I played I got to the
Dragon Shrine
and I just set it aside. I don't have nearly as much drive or desire to complete it as I do with Bloodborne or did with Dark Souls 1. Maybe it is the gameplay or the story, or both.

Nope. I'm going to play BB for a while longer, NG+, skill/bloodtinge character, maybe try out an arcane build.

Then I'll move on to FFT0. Then I'll get DS2R for cheap.

I'm probably playing Bloodborne and Monhu4 till Witcher3 comes out, I can't think of anything else I want right now. I double-dipped and bought all the dlc for DkS2, and as it's the worst souls game I don't really need another copy.

That's right, it's the worst souls game and I bought it twice.
This series is ridic.

actually, after Bloodborne I'll be taking a break from souls games. though, BB might keep me busy for most of this year.

I'll get DS2 when it's on sale, the new enemy placement I've seen so far, doesn't make me wish to go back...

I had a feeling that there was going to be a PS4 port of DS2 so I held off on the DLC. I don't even feel close to taking a break from Bloodborne so I won't be picking it up at launch, but I'll be double-dipping when the price drops.

And I too feel that DS2 is the worst Souls game but I still love it.

Nope. Bloodborne will be high, if not at the top of my rotation until Witcher -- then i'll get to DS2, time permitting.

Maybe if I get in the mood to play some multiplayer. I have yet to ever be summoned for co-op in Bloodborne after leaving the bell ringing for like half an hour.

Look, I'm the first person that hates buggy / broken games. I'm 20 hours into Bloodborne and despite the occasional frame rate dip, it's DEFINITELY not broken. It's the same as (if not better than) than previous souls games from that perspective.

Could not agree more with this statement. Improvement welcome... but by no means unplayable or near deal-breaker status.

Nah man, BB is possibly the best thing From has done since DeS and Dark souls 2 aint nowhere neaaaaaar this good.

Won't ever have to touch dks2 again since this is out, so happy.

Nah, I'm having a blast with Bloodborne and have no plans to put it down for a while. And if I do, it'll be for a totally different game. I've already put 60+ hours into Dark Souls II; I'll buy the PS4 version after it gets a price drop.

At the moment I'm too consumed by the world of Bloodborne. I've GOT to get every little nook and cranny I sensed I didn't get on my second playthrough.
Never in my life did I feel like going for a second playthrough, right after the ending credits stopped.

After that I'll probably do a guided playthrough.

Then I might consider getting out of the
Lovecraftian
wonder that is Bloodborne.
