anyone still playing Eye of Judgement?

I got this around Xmas. Played it some with my fiancee, and haven't touched it since.

Just curious if anyone is playing this still.

I only have the original started and 3 or 4 boosters (haven't made a deck).

Any good sites to help out with deck ideas would be good too.

I missed the news on this. What happened?

They wanted money for the software, so I can play with my cards, which I also need to buy. Stupid business model.

I think he's referring to the fact that you have to pay for both the physical cards and the DLC you need in order to actually use them.

This is the worst game I've broken the shrinkwrap on this gen.

However, that may change tonight, when I slide my knife underneath Mercenaries 2's cellophane. :lol

Excellent gameplay. Excellent game.
How they handled the add-on was pretty retarded though (not that you need it).

The main problem for me is that it's impractical to have it up atm as I would have to use my work desk.

I do from time to time. I think it's a brilliant card game. I don't think having to pay for the expansion plus cards wasn't the best idea, but it really expanded (the expansion) on how the game was played and added all new kinds of strategy to it.

lol i played it once and havnt played it since, still got it sitting in the draw though, they should do the same thing but with Magic the Gathering....... but let people use their own cards, ones they already own, that would be godly.

Yep. The dlc shudve been a simple patch.
That's the funny thing.. you have to download the DLC no matter what as a patch... 1800MB.. or else you can't play online.

DLC should have been free and offered as a side-downloadable from the main menu.

I just started. I bought it during release week but never played more than one game. I recently watched the tutorial and beat the computer on my first game. My buddy bought it and two boxes of cards (72 packs), so we are going to start playing. We registered a deck for online play last night.

The game is pretty cool and a nice change up from shooting and driving.

So don't buy either and keep playing?

I bought 6 expansion boosters, then got home to play them and was informed I had to pay another $15 to use them.

I never played again.

The same with the other posters, I stopped when I had to pay $15 to play with the new cards. Although I would pick up some Set 1 cards if I saw them, I can only find Set 2 cards.

Hint to gaming companies: Don't try to squeeze money out of an already small user base. I'm looking at you too, MGO.

I love this game but my issue is one of TIME not cash issues.

I agree the cost of the expansion was silly but I think it was an issue of profit model.

I don't know if the profit from selling the cards actually funnels back to the software team.

Hmm... I should make a new tourney.

I think profit from cards goes to Wizards alone. Hence the extra cost for the DLC.

I agree with the time argument. For those kids out there who dig this kind of stuff it might be like PES for Europeans. They basically use the PS3 just to play that game.

That's was I was concerned about.

Its an inherently unworkable profit model since Sony makes nothing from the cards and yet they have to pay their engineers to make new software. There's no good solution short of Sony buying Wizards of the Coast company.

Ah well...

I am pretty sure my copy is still lying around the house. And by lying around the house I mean being used as cat litter box liner.

They probably tried to come up with a better deal but couldn't find the sweet spot that pleased both without hurting the game.

Ah well indeed.

Mercs 2 is great fun.

The worst big-budget game this gen is undoubtedly Alone in the Dark. At least so far.

Wait for Eyepet!

one of those games I keep meaing to get, but I dont have any friends who can eeven play a game of magic these days, let alone a new card game :/

I liked the game a lot, but I quit for a couple reasons.

First off, they did a poor job playtesting Set 2, so certain cards (Zealots) were overpowered at release. When the fan reaction forced them to nerf these cards, instead of balancing them properly like they should have done from the beginning, they took the lazy way out and weakened them to the point of being useless. And while they were at it, they nerfed some other cards (including an Ultra Rare card that players paid a lot of money for) that were never ovepowered to begin with.

And then, to top it off, your stats aren't saved to their servers, but to a locked save file. When I replaced my PS3 because of GTA 4 freezing, I could not transfer my EoJ save to my new system, and my stats from playing hundreds of games online were gone. Do any Japanese developers have a clue when it comes to online gaming?

From what I gather browsing EoJ forums now, the game is dying. The 2.01 nerf patch has created new balance problems that are as bad or worse than the zealots, and a lot of the top-ranked players are cheating by creating rooms with animations turned on, which no one but noobs will enter, and then having a buddy enter the room and immediately surrender.

What they should have done for the pricing was either:

a) Include a coupon with each booster box for a free download. Anyone who pays $100 for cards should get the software for free.

b) Give a starter deck to everyone who buys the software update.

Yes but this is an issue if Wizards works as a completely separate financial entity.
Its a business model problem and likely completely out of the hands of the developers.

However, its still a fun game. The only thing really lacking is a cohesive tournament community.

Fred Meyer's got 'em on clearance, for those of you thinking about grabbing it.

I really enjoyed my time with it - but I haven't played it in months. I played once or twice after purchasing the expansion. Sort of a hassle to get everything out, and I was always having weird lighting issues.

The core gameplay is really fantastic. I may fire it up tonight...

I just got mine last week - mainly for the camera and to try something new.
Thing is I've never played a card-game of this type in my life, so I'm a bit clueless - are there any good newbie-friendly tutorials for this stuff (the in-game one gives me the impression of assuming I already know about these card-games).

How dlc can go horribly wrong.

however, I think they had to, because people buying the game that is still dedicated to it will pay it regardless. It's a smart decision from a profit standpoint.

This is an excellent game and I'd still be playing it if only I had more time. I only played with the new set a couple of times (bought 1 booster box) but it seemed to add a lot of depth. Hope to get back to playing more in the future!

I rarely play it..it was fun at first, but having to buy more cards, made it boring and annoying..if anybody is up for a a game though..post on this thread, as I can't find many people online playing Eye of Judgement.

enjoyed it, enjoyed the card collecting part initially.

but the interest dropped when there was a charge for the update in order to use the cards you had to shell out for.

Plus Mrs C routinely wiped the floor with me, and cloth boards are hard to tip over with any real anger :lol

I usually play it when a certain friend of mine comes to visit. But she's about the only one that will play with me, and I'm to awful to try it online.
