Overall? No too bad, I'd say 15.99 should be the most for a single title, but I know I'll break and buy Persona 3 D:

I'm one of those people who has to beat the first game before I can move on to the sequel. It's weird, I know.

You know I am too, but with MHFU its different for me. ALL the monsters from MHF1 are in MHFU plus more. The only thing you are missing is the village, and no long swords. There is no story to the game.

You've been able to buy the same games for PSP and PSP Go for years now. A bunch of early adopters may increase sales for a short while, but PSP sales will dry up very soon as soon as more software for Vita comes out. People buy new systems to play new content...Gamefly has already removed the PSP from the default systems displayed. I see PSP support as a nice bonus for those who supported the PSP Go but I really don't think the Vita is going to help increase sales on that front long term.

So many Ys' and another one coming on the PSV itself. I'd like to try that series, but it's pretty intimidating at this point.

My favorite album is called Ys, are the Ys games related to the story of an island off the coast of France which sank?

Games aren't that long if you're willing to give them a go. The longest one is definitely 7 and you could probably finish that one in 30 hours? Trying to remember how long it took me, but that seems like a fair number. The other ones are maybe 15 to 20?

Oath in Felghana is by far the best, but they are all worth picking up and playing if you find you enjoy them. Basically I feel like I have already decided to pick up a Vita when Ys 4 hits. Falcom has really won me over needless to say which is pretty good for having never heard of them before 2010.

And no, there isn't really any connections to a island off the coast of France.

If the entire PSP library was available and compatible with the Vita I think they'd start to move some numbers for sure based on a few things:

1. PSP games look REALLY GOOD on Vita and this is coming from someone who loves their 3000 model. They also control better with right stick camera.

2. PSP games are DIRT CHEAP. Most are $20 or under, plenty are $10. Cheaper than a PSN game!

3. Obviously early on when the Vita library is small, some people will want even MORE games to play on their vita and the PSP library is great.

4. Finally people who skipped PSP now have an entire library of AAA games to catch up on.

They really need to work on getting more PSP games on the Vita store. I was sad when I looked and there were only about 50-70 games out of the 500-1000 psp games that exist.

It seems like a rather obvious and easy sell to me. I've already double dipped on 2 of my UMD games and bought 3 more in the last week on PSN.

Another underlying point that is interesting is that with Vita having day 1 retail/PSN releases and it not being hacked (at this time), sales should be fairly decent. I feel more incentive to buy some of my games on PSN now. Before (with PSP), I would normally wait. The main releases will still be bought retail but I think the nature of the Vita will mean better selling SW and a nice bump for PSP sales.

So by having all games on DD and (mostly) retail on day 1, this serves the best of both worlds and in turn, maximizes sales. And the cross platform "buy 1, get both versions" is a good way to tie people to buying the games on PSN as well so no middle man at retail. Not that any games announced for retail are using that cross platform selling system yet.

To add to this separately, when I had my PSP, I never even planned on buying Grand Knights Story but now that I can play it on Vita, I'm anticipating that greatly. That's another little but somewhat major point too in that the Vita seems to make games run better and also look better thanks to the 5" OLED.

Anyone else not seeing things the same way?

Sony needs to adopt a better pricing strategy with the PSP games that aren't in retail anymore. It costs you next to nothing to sell it, drop the freaking price and get people buying digital games.

I guess I should clarify, that Sony does have decent prices on PSP stuff, it's a lot of 3rd parties I've seen that still have pretty high costs.

It may not make a huge impact but it will definitely help. Previously people have no reason to (because of price and lack of media) buy games from PSN. Now they do. Heck, I'm double dipping on YS series and Tactics Ogre.

It's really not up to Sony to get BbS on there.

Oh, and Bastion is pretty much the perfect game for PSV, that needs to happen.

My Vita just shipped from Amazon and I'm looking to play all the PSP games I missed out on since I sold my old PSP 2000.

So far I've bought Tactics Ogre, Ys 7 and Valkyria Chronicles 2. I was initially bummed about VC2's price ($40) but then I found the bundle with all the addon content for $22.99! I bought it without hesitation.

Two questions though regarding my next two PSP purchases.

Which Armored Core title is considered the best? There's 3 different ones up on the PSN Store.

Is Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection worth $30?

A heads up for people, Crush is going to be on sale on the US store later, it is one of the best games on PSP, and it'll be $5, please consider it.

I personally never bought a PSP, so I'm looking forward to using a Vita to catch up on some PSP games. The ones available on PSN, anyway. Not looking forward to getting a memory card on which I can actually stick them.

No money for a Vita quite yet, though. Maybe this summer.

I've got some amazon credit left over but just realized that they no longer sell points cards so my PSP adventures might have to wait since I took advantage of their buy 2 get 1 free deals.

So two quick questions:

1)Can I purchase PSP (and Vita games) directly from PSN via the Vita or do I need to do it through my PS3?

2) Is there any website that has comparison shots of PSP games running on Vita versus native PSP?

There have already been Kingdom Hearts games distributed digitally for cellphones, so I'm going to say I don't believe that. There are PS1 classics with the Disney license on PSN too.

Specifically, the game would have to not be available on the PSP PSN store for disney to ever agree.

Where did you read that?

I don't believe it, there are digitally distributed Kingdom Hearts games, and there are Disney games on PSN. I don't believe the combination of both is what Disney find abhorrent.

1. Yep. Can't download them while in 3G (big games at least) ; but no problems in WiFi. Though leave it plugged; since it will drain energy. :p

2. Not a full dedicated site, as far as I'm aware. But seems to be either per game basis or random. Most of the Google results bring back comparisons from here (NeoGAF).

Well, it's not what said anywhere. The only official comment is "It won't come to PSN for a reason I cannot say" from Nomura.

I believe PSP's piracy problem is more at play than any kind of contract considerations.

How is piracy affected by a PSN version of the game?

In Europe, Disney's PSP games are currently on sale on the store, Tron etc, Disney are absolutely not against PSP games on PSN. A few weeks ago SE's PSP games on PSN were on sale too, they're not against it.

There has to be a reason, so far I've heard nothing that even resembles reasonable.

The reason Lumines isn't and will never be on PSN, is because when the contracts were written up for licensing the music, a digital SKU was not included, every contract would have to be redone, costs would have to be reassigned, and they don't believe that process would turn a profit on the digital SKU.

It's possible the BbS contract was written up early enough that a digital SKU wouldn't have been a real consideration, but unlike Lumines, I don't think it's true that the new contract wouldn't be worth making for the sales benefit.

To be fair, from what I remember...after that "cannot say" comment which many assumed it was because of Disney; it was that Disney games started appearing on PSN (which also made many assume that Birth by Sleep could appear on PSN..at some point) [PSone games were released March 2011, BbS was released in Japan on January 2010 but started development around 2005-2007].

Hercules, Lilo & Stitch, A Bug's Life for PSone, Tron, Cars 2..were released on PSN around 2010/2011... so could be that the contract at the moment of that game (2005+) didn't allowed for digital release or something. It wasn't until relatively recent that Disney "realized" that there was money in digital distribution and sales.

At some point, maybe when PSP games aren't sold in retail stores anymore, they should drop their prices to 9.99$/€ maximum, if they cost more.

I'm sure they (the 3rd parties) will come to their senses at some point.

Anyways, that's it for me on this thread before it sinks. Unless compelling conversation continues.
