Anyone without a screen protector on your phone?

How does a screen protector help protect against cracked screens? Don't those happen when the phone is dropped? The screen protectors only help prevent light scratches on the surface, right?

It's an added layer of protection. My co worker dropped his galaxy s7 at work in front of me the other day and it hit his glass protector and it cracked it. He just took the protector off and his actual screen was fine. Granted if he had slammed it down really hard it would probably have gone through to his actual screen but without a protector his original screen would be cracked no doubt

I love you all. Been thinking the same thing since like 2010 and get griefed by friends for it. I can't stand the look of any screen protectors and they always seem to Fuck with touch accuracy.

I can see that happening with super thick tempered glass panels, but I've never had a single issue with accuracy on all of my phones and tablets. Even the one I have on my IPad Pro hasn't caused any issues with the Apple Pencil (no wavy lines with long strokes either)

Regular, plastic screen protectors are too thin to affect touch accuracy as well. They do feel like ass though, adds to much grip.

None on my iPhone 6S and none on any of my other iPhones before. Never had a scratch or crack.

I put a tempered glass protector on my Switch on day one though, lol.

Can't stand neither screen protectors nor cases, so my phones went naked until I got a Nexus 6P. The thing started to getting scratched along the edges despite sitting in its own pocket most of the time, so a case is a must.

I miss just sticking a decal on the back of a phone; it feels a lot more comfortable to hold than with a case.

Just don't put it in your pocket with your keys and you shouldn't have any problems.

keys won't scratch a glass screen. Glass is harder than the metal used for keys.

About the only thing you should be worried about scratching your phone screen is sand or rocks or really sharp pointed metals.

Tempered glass only. Feels and looks better. The s7 edge ones sucked but the s8+ ones are way better. I think the people hating on them in this thread are the same people who would claim their scratched up screen are in mint condition when trying to trade in their phones.

Never used one, never will.

Cases I use but putting a screen protector on changes the interaction with the phone to the point I'd rather go without.

I just removed mine, cant seem to stick well on the screen and introduces rainbow colors. S7edge here.

The naked screen is awesome, very smooth and all. I have been missing this awesome for a whole year!

Wonder how long my screen will last without protection? All this talk about gorilla glass, yet i heard enough feedback of micro scratches.

When will phones start to use sapphire glass?

Never once in my life have I used a screen protector for anything.

I've had an iPhone since 2008 and have never needed one.
Or people just like to look after their property.

You don't take care of your tablets, TV, games consoles, etc? You're happy to let them be scratched to hell and covered in dust?
I look after my property by not fucking it up.

It's easy to do without terrible screen protectors.

I've never used a screen protector and have never had any damaging scratches on any of my phones. Cracks from dropping are a different story, but I usually keep my phone in a separate pocket from stuff like my keys (which wouldn't do much against gorilla glass anyway) so a screen protector just seems unnecessary.

So many people in here using cheap shit screen protectors throwing around bad information

While I don't use one, if you're accident prone a tempered glass screen protector is a must. They don't feel any different than the glass on your screen, because it IS the glass on your screen. They don't mess with accuracy, because they still transfer heat.

Stop being cheap and using shitty plastic protectors. It's not 2008.

I never put screen protector or have a case.

What's the point of a beautiful looking phone if you just cover it up and make it look ugly?
I understand some people drop theirs more often than not, but I'm careful. Actually, even when I dropped my Xperia Z1 a couple of times in its life, it didn't even dent or scratch, and they were pretty bad falls.

Havn't had one on my 6S for 1.5 years, for most of that 1.5 years it's never had a scratch (just the micro-scratches in the oleophobic coating you have to try to see), only now did I get a scratch that seems to be in the glass itself and on the fat bezel luckily.

I'm ok with it, at this rate it'll only be decently scuffed up enough to be ready for an upgrade.

New phone glass isn't like old phone glass, my Nexus S was scratch city in this much time.

Have a S7 Edge without a screen protector, but I do have the window flip case so the screen is at least a bit protected in my pocket.

A tempered glass saved my last phones screen once (probably anyway, the glass protector cracked but the screen was pristine after it was removed), so I would honestly prefer to have a protector but last time I checked there was no consensus on a good glass protector for it. I had a protector on the S7e for a month or two but one time I was at DisneySea using my phone a tonne during a typhoon with heavy rain and water got under the protector and it just fell off.

I still use my Galaxy Note 3, I have an S view cover, so the battery case is the screen protector basically. But no plastic film or anything on it. No scratches, cracks or anything I've had it for 3 years now.

A cover case of some kind in general is good. I plan on putting a tempered glass protector on my phone, but I have had this phone for about a year and don't have a single scratch on it. I have something like this (pictured is Nexus 5, but I have a 5x so my case is slightly different):

To those of you that say that they don't use a screen protector or a case, would y'all mind posting pictures of the front and back of your phones?

I've had a Nexus 5 for 3 years and zero scratches on the screen. I know phones are expensive and all but it kind of defeats the purpose of getting a slick new phone if it's going to be entombed in a case with a film of plastic covering the screen.

People are free to do what they wish with their property of course. Like not taking the plastic film off a new laptop monitor or TV. Or keeping your couch covered in plastic.

I've got a leather case that closes but no actual screen protector. I've had my 7 Plus for a few months now and woke up with a hangover last week to find two hairline scratches on the screen. Pretty annoying.

I was putting the phone back into my pocket with the case still open and folded back leaving the screen exposed, that's probably what caused it.

Galaxy S2. Not only do I have no screen protector, I have no screws in my phone either. I had to replace the rear facing camera years ago and took out the 7 body screws and 4 board screws then never bother putting them back in. I've dropped it so many times, no cracks.

I've never used one, and I've never had a scratched screen, either. I use cases to protect the edges from drops, but never anything on the screen itself.

After dropping my phone with a screen protector AND a case but the screen still cracked, i stopped using screen protectors and never looked back

I have a Nexus 5. No screen protector, but the case has a lip around the edge of the bezels, and that works fine. Screen is in near-perfect condition (there's a scratch somewhere, but I forgot where it is).

Never figured out how to apply screen protectors properly.

Never understood people who do this. The glass on these phones is so strong now, mine has never been scratched. Plus I don't want something covering my nice screen.

I don't have a screen protector but I do have loads of micro scratches and one small actual scratch. Eh- on the Apple upgrade program so just need it until January

Only smart phone I had that I abandoned screen protectors for was the iPhone 3GS. That thing was monstrously tough.

I always use one, otherwise.

I've never used a case or screen protector on any phone. It's never been an issue for me, but I get why they exist and people need them. My wife has somehow cracked the screen of every phone she's ever owned.

I actually got yelled at by a guy at my Verizon store because I wouldn't buy a case and wouldn't buy the insurance. As I was leaving the store he yelled "YOU'LL BE BACK!!!!"

Not used one in like 7 years. I don;t actually think I know anyone with one.

When my screen gets fucked, there's nothing a screen protector would have done about it.

Never use screen protectors, cases sure. Usually the cases have enough of a lip that dropping the phone won't cause it to directly land on the screen.

See Id rather the screen protector get scratched and just replace that for a few bucks than scrapes on my screen.

Better resale value without a screen scratched to hell.
