No macbook air retina ever :(
MacBook Air is just hanging around until Retina MacBook becomes more affordable and capable.
Listen to this man. When the RMB becomes up to snuff it will replace the Air. Maybe the Air might possibly get an update at some point in the interim, but it will most likely never ever get a Retina display. At some point the Air and MacBook lines will be merged and one will die. It will be the Air.

As for what will happen to the 11" and 13" options, well only Apple knows. Maybe 12" will be enough for both markets and the 11" and 13" options for the consumer line will go the way of the 17" Pro.

I bought a RMB a little over two weeks ago. And I'm not doing anything crazy - mostly text editing, notes, maybe some audio editing, web browsing, and media consumption. I love the RMB - like the 2010 MBA I had I'd consider it the best computer I've ever owned. It is so thin, so light, so portable, and it is a friggin' joy to use. It gets a bad rap for being underpowered but for me it is the perfect machine.

Its fine for everyday use but the issue with heating means if it gets warm it will start to throttle so it cant do anything too demanding for a longer period. However I think I would pick it over the MBA if I had to choose between the two.

"iPad sales are tanking. What should we do?"
"Let's release the next one with a 100$ raise in the price. That'll surely help!"

To be fair the Air 2 already started at $600 for a lot of people as the 16GB base model is useless. The difference in usability between a 16GB and a 32GB device is night and day.

Prediction 4 wwdc

12" + 14" retina macbook

+ 16" pro (+ possibly 14" pro?)

all usb-c ports

all wedges

My woman needs a new phone. She wants an iPhone.

When is the best time to get one when it comes to these reveals? As in the last model gets cheaper or whatever.

Does that happen after the reveal or after the next one actually hits market?

Should I go to a phone store or look for people offloading the last model on kijiji?

best time to buy is when they just release. (they typically release around sept/oct) Older models are $100 cheaper new and if you buy used, the amount would be lower than if you were to buy now. And of course you can buy the newest phone.

About now is the worst time to buy as you are essentially buying a 1 year old phone for the price of a new phone.

i hope for a refresh on the retina macbook/pro's. i miss my old macbook and despite owning a pretty powerful PC i really want to keep using OS X. the macbook i had was the late 2008 model. used it from 10.5.5 to 10.8.2.

The SE is rumored to release at the end of this week (Friday).

I'm praying for some MacBook updates. According to the Macrumors buying guide, their lineup is really stale and due for at least a minimal refresh. I've been putting off buying a new machine for a month and a half, waiting for this.

Oh yeah, this is happening. Forgot with Gametrailers also marking the date and having just pulled the trigger on a Pixel C, but I'm always down to see what they do and laugh at Johnny Ive voiced pretentious cringe videos.

CPU and GPU tech is stale right now in general. They should do one since it's been so long, but it feels more like a website update rather than an event.

With the Pencil being an extra 100, buying the latest iPad next week will cost $200 more than it did last year if you wanted to draw on it. 700 dollars, lol.

Apple pls

iPad mini Pro being $100 extra is laughable considering you still have to drop close $200 extra for the pencil and keyboard to take advantage of the pro features

Lol yeah. Apple 2016 = re-release the iPhone 5 as the iPhone SE, re-release the iPhone 6 as the iPhone 7.

I am a huge Apple fan, but I have to agree. They are completely out of ideas. There is literally nothing new in the horizon to look forwards to

iPhone SE - iPhone 5S with new guts
IPhone 7/Plus - iPhone 6 sans headphone jack, with better camera

iPad Air 3 = iPad Pro 9.7" = iPad Pro in iPad Air size
iPad Pro = nothing new on the horizon
iPad Mini = nothing new on the horizon

MacBook = nothing new on the horizon
MacBook Pro = EOL, transitioning to MacBook
MacBook Air = EOL

iMac = nothing new on the horizon
Mac Mini = nothing new on the horizon
Mac Pro = nothing new on the horizon

Apple TV = nothing new on the horizon

Apple Watch = new features due this year in Apple Watch 2

Remember the days when Apple was cooking all kinds of innovations and we couldn't wait to see them? Thise were the days.

The best time to buy is September when the new one is revealed and the old one is $100 cheaper.

I think the price drop happens at the reveal.

Still, right now is not a bad time to buy an iPhone at all. The 6s will be a great phone for a long time to come.

Remember the days when Apple was cooking all kinds of innovations and we couldn't wait to see them? Thise were the days.

This post is absolutely ridiculous.

Apple's never shat out earthshattering products on a regular basis. There were six years between the iPod and iPhone, and three between the iPhone and iPad, and even that was an abnormally busy period for them - and even then people complained constantly. "The iPad's just a big iPod touch! The iPhone can't even copy and paste! My Nokia candybar piece of shit can do way more than the iPhone. Innovation my ass."

iPad mini, Apple TV, and iMacs just got refreshed six months ago. The iPad Pro just came out for the first time six months ago! MacBook Pros aren't "EOL", that's just making stuff up out of thin air. Sure, some of the Mac line is overdue for an update, but Macs have always been iterative updates with major new releases only every couple of years anyway. I don't know what you expect from Apple. New devices every three months that turn the whole industry upside down?

people always say things like that post every single year lol. Shit is clockwork.

Will dip on the iPad Pro at 9,7". Weight, thickness and recharge time are all close to perfect (using the Air 2 as a reference here). I wish the big one would be a bit lighter and fully recharged after 3 hours. Maybe after 2 or 3 iterations with some serious witchcraft.

You made a mistake, monday isn't WWDC.

:(

I agree. 16 was nearly useless for me. 5 months and I had enough. Gave it to a senior relative and got a 64.

Hopefully they make 32 as a base going forward.

iPhone SE is pretty much what most people should have expected. It is like the two generations late 8gb iPhone at $100/200 less than standard one. Honestly, I was surprised that they'll add Live Photo and a good enough camera in it.

For iPad line, I think Apple is gonna kill it in this event. Or maybe they will make one final Mini with Air 2 spec.
Edit: ignore this, totally forgot iPad mini 4

For MacBook line, it was obvious that the rMB will replace the MBA rather than rMBP. The new MB will not replace rMBP until the MB can catch on spec wise. Iirc, the new MB has no fan design right?

For Mac Pro, no one expect they will release the next gen that quick. It has only been 3 years. The 1st gen lasts for 8 years. They will just refresh it for another few years. And iMac, I hope they will add usb C in this year. They will probably keep refresh it until they can even thinner. For Mac mini, I expect nothing. I don't think apple is interested to invest money for another generation.

Apple TV: make no sense to refresh it now. It makes even less sense when iTunes Store still haven't provide 4K movie.

Apple Watch: it's first generation, with kind of a rush schedule.

Can't wait for the 5SE, power of the 6S in a 4" phone that I can use one handed. Still regret buying the 6S and not just repairing my 5S.

I'd almost resigned myself to the fact that I'd have to buy something unwieldly and ugly when I finally got sick of my 5S. I'm just over the moon they're giving me a reason to upgrade without taking something away in the process.

I think they'll be talking about iTunes on monday too. Gruber had an interview with Craig Federighi and Eddy Cue recently and asked about why iTunes is such a bloated mess, and they basically gave a vague hint at making improvements next month.

Personally, I wish they would kill iTunes in a fire, so they can build something new from scratch, but this is probably not that.

I'm sorry but I'm laughing my ass off at the suggestion that Apple will EOL the Macbook Pro because of Retina Macbooks.

Absolutely dying of laughter 😂😂😂😂

Remember when we had bigger screen iPhones to look forwards to? Or a mini sized iPad? Or an ultra-thin iPad? Or a giant iPad? Or an entirely new product category with Apple Watch? Or a retina MacBook and iMac? Or an all new Mac Pro with a revolutionary form factor? Or an all new Apple TV with a new OS and remote?

That was all in the last few years. What do we have to look forwards to now?

iPad Air 3 will be a good upgrade from my iPad 4, so looking forward to it. Though yeah, these tablets don't feel like things you need to upgrade every year at all.

I feel if I was low in funds I could just keep my iPad 4 for an extra year or two and I wouldn't be unhappy.

well, um, what do you want?

Lol are you looking for a phone built in the hand? Lots of change will be in software and functionality to make it more organic and usable with even greater ease. That's what I'm more excited about than, let's say a waterproof iPhone with new wireless charging/headphones.

"Remember when we had slightly different iPhones and slightly different iPads and nicer MacBooks and iMacs? Remember when the Mac Pro went without a significant spec bump for four years? And the Apple TV got a shitty new remote and the App Store it should've gotten years ago?"

Basically everything you just said but the Apple Watch and maybe the Mac Pro is as iterative and evolutionary as anything else they've done over the past few years. If rumors are correct there's as much to look forward to soon as ever - Skylake 12" MacBooks with more capable processors, Skylake MacBook Pros with significant redesigns, a 4" iPhone updated with 6S specs, a 9.7" iPad with iPad Pro specs, a new Watch in the fall, new iPhones in the fall... iPhones with dual-cameras, Watches with blood pressure monitors, iPhones with OLED further down the road.

Also, the "giant iPad" and the "all new Apple TV" were announced just six months ago, along with:

1. The iPad mini 4.
2. The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
3. Skylake 27" iMacs.
4. Broadwell and Retina 21.5" iMacs.
5. iOS 9.
6. OS X El Capitan.
7. New Watch bands, including Hermes.
8. Gold and Rose Gold Apple Watch Sports.
9. New Mac keyboard, trackpad, and mouse.

All that in the past six months, and you're complaining they just aren't doing enough.

I do hope they show rMBP with OLED thin bezel display and long battery life. I guess that would excite many?

My XPS15 is beasting it, but i would think with Apple, they can go one better.
