Apple conference: New redesigned MacBooks. Thinest and lightest ever made

The lack of ports makes it feel like they're going backwards rather than forwards.

Features Apple. Features!

Features have never been Apple's MO. They're all about beautiful products. Look how long they took to add copy and paste to iOS.

They'll probably have a Macbook Pros for those who want more ports.

No fan = best laptop ever.

What if I have to plug in a USB stick? Or sync with my iPad or iPhone?

Or charge my laptop at the same time as something else?

Lack of ports just seems insanely awful to me.

You can use regular USB ports with it (presumably with an adapter). And iPhones/iPads sync wirelessly.

Yeah fuck that monstrosity. I guess I'm done with Apple laptops now. Some people like to actually get work done on their computers and not just show them off in coffee shops.

I'm guessing you have to use a hub with power/USB/thunderbolt/etc. to the USB-C... it doesn't sound cheap with all of that.

I thought I would update my old Air, but eh, not enough ports in this one.

Wait, so the old ones are staying? I guess I could go for a Pro instead.

It's lacking too many other things though.

Also is this only using and Core M processor??

So either similar or worse performance compared to the prior revision of the macbook with i5 processors...

Also, didn't the Yoga 3, which also use a Core M have worse battery life than the Yoga 2?

This is going to be successful as fuck. It will do bonkers.

Buuuuut... There is no way in fuck I'd buy it. MBP used to be the perfect laptops to me. Even the 2014 model was still great after the slim down. Idk wtf this is.

Gonna hop on the Surface Pro 4 hype train. Don't disappoint me MS!

The battery is much bigger than in the Air. If Apple says it gets 10 hours, it gets 10 hours. They tend to under-estimate battery life if anything.

Why are people mad about this?? If you want more productivity just buy a macbook pro 13-15, this is like when they released the first macbook air.

Only dual core Intel M at non turbo speeds of 1.1 or 1.2 ghz is worring for heavy work loads. :/

It being fanless has me worried about throttling.

This thing seems like a total step backwards. Core M processor, no fucking ports?

How is anyone supposed to get any shit done on this computer.

My 2012 MBA core i5 is better than this shit.

How the fuck can you produce a computer with no ports? And than charge a pemium price for it? It is a complete lose/lost situation. This company sucks.

$1600 for 12-inch "retina" (wonder what the resolution will be...) with 1.2GHz dual core Intel Core M, 8GB RAM, and integrated graphics? Fucking lol. I'm not regretting my rMBP purchase in the least.

seriously, they want people to pay premium for shit performance.

Not talking about this particular announced Macbook... but I am 10x more productive on my new Macbook than I was on previous PCs. The OS feels solid, the trackpad works very well unlike nearly any PC I tried. I can work very fast on it.

When I'm rushing to submit a digital school assignment, I know what tool I'd use: Mac. So I'd like to argue against the idea that it's style over substance. There's a solidity and reliability to them that makes it a tangible benefit.

Not arguing against people who dislike the direction of this one though.... I see you're talking about the lack of ports etc.

I barely use any of the ports on my Macbook so that's not completely bothersome but I hate that the keyboard looks like it made sacrifices for unnecessary thinness.
