Here's a question for everybody who is actually getting angry in this thread: if you stop typing for one second, and think about what you're doing, do you realise the absurdity of it, or are you fine with the fact that MOBILE TELEPHONES anger you so much that you feel the need to insult people based on their preferences, attack entire companies, etc.? You are ridiculously lucky - even just in a statistical sense - to be alive, and you are spending at least some of your life, at your computer, arguing with people about patents and technology. There are a hundred better ways you could use this time, so stop getting so upset about something so absurdly trivial. It's depressing.
Also Apple rules.
I love how people here take this more personally and get angry at Apple more than Google does lol. This is the Google who was using Macs and iPads all over during Google IO.

I am a fan of Apple, they make fantastic products and there would be no modern smart phone market or tablet market without them and it seems pretty obvious to me why they would want to protect the patents of these industries they all but started. Even if the patents in many cases are absurd. But the government granted them, they are protecting what they legally own. If there is anyone to have a problem with is the patent system. And I love how you seem to be the first line of defense around here when someone "gets angry" at Apple, there's basically no thread wihout a comment from you if there's defending and rationalizing to do. As if Apple cared. Fine by me but at least don't turn around and lol at others, seems a tiny bit smug and hypocritical.
I just don't see why Apple deserves all this hate.
And then there are the people that write hyperbolic stuff like "there would be no modern smart phone market or tablet market without them". There most definitely would be, they just made it as big as it is now faster. No small feat and respect for that but I don't get the need to revise history to make Apple look like the inventor of all things smartphone.

In other news, Apple had to pay 60 million USD for the iPad trademark from Chinese company weiguan again. They already purchased the trademark but due the Apple lawyer fucked up they only purchased the "world trademark" but the "Chinese local trademark" was owned by the different mother company so Apple had to pay again.
Hey at least the Chinese got Apple good.

Well if Albert Einstein didn't develop the theory of relativity someone else would have. The whole if X didn't do Y, someone else would have eventually is such nonsense, what happened - happened. Don't justify it.
There's a difference between saying "no modern market/no theory of relativity" and "smaller market/a worse and less popular theory of relativity". There were smartphones before the iPhone, you could do a lot with them (hell, my dad uses his 3GS basically for the same stuff he used his Palm V for) and there was a fast growing demand, more and more people were already buying and using them. What irks me and others is the notion that the smartphone-timeline started in 2007.
Apple didn't invent the smartphone, but they did make them accessible (simple to use) to the masses before anyone else.
This is the same argument as in the threads when one politician/political party does something indefensible and people on that side come in and say, "there's no difference between the parties! They're all out to screw over the little guy anyway." It's an incredibly bad argument, because it ignores everything of substance being discussed. Of course there are differences between Apple and Google's corporate culture and market strategies. If you aren't interested in discussing those differences, what are you doing in this thread? Well other than to come to Apple's defense with the "they're all the same!" argument.Hating a side is just so childish and brings back the not so good memories of sega vs Nintendo.
One side isn't evil and one side isn't good.
Both do shitty and good things in equal measure. If you want to live in some one sided crazy world where google is a good guy and apple is a bad guy then whatever, it is just silly.
There is no right and wrong. Both are companies who care about one thing, making money in every way they can.
$60 million is "got Apple good"?
Based on their last quarterly profits statement, that's approximately 10 hours of income lost.
Meanwhile, they finally have full access to that market. I think they'll take that deal.

Samsung source told The Korea Times: Its too early to comment on our game plan (with Google) in the legal battle; but we will do our best to get more royalties from Apple, which has benefited from our technology. The fight is becoming more dramatic and the possibility of a truce in the form of a cross-licensing deal, seems to be becoming likely.
Aw shit yea, I hope Google uses the same team as they did with the Oracle case.

That sounds more like if things get worse google wants to cut a deal with apple for cross licensing rather than the endless litigation though? It sounds like the opposite of a oracle like situation.Aw shit yea, I hope Google uses the same team as they did with the Oracle case.

So... if I order a Nexus off Play will I actually get it?

Fair enough. Everyone loves incompetent lawyers.I enjoyed the spectacle and unveiling of absurdity that came out of the Oracle/Google due to the lawyering.

That judge seems to have a real hard-on for Apple. Yes I am aware she is female.
Searching for your apps and such?Fuck you very much, Apple.

It isn't that easy. Google makes a ton of money from Apple products and services. Apple to my knowledge makes well nada off of Google. Google can't go nuclear on Apple, it is not in their financial or business interest at all. There are a ton of iOS users out there and most of them use google search, Google wants to keep it that way.Apple gets the majority of Siri search results from Google:

Although some consumers may be disappointed that they cannot purchase the Galaxy Nexus, the Galaxy Nexus, as Samsung itself has repeatedly insisted, is not Samsungs only smartphone product on the market, Koh wrote in the ruling
Well Apple had to put up 100mil bond so if they lose at least there is that
Its not JB... its androidGalaxy III...until it gets JB, then it has to go away too.
