Apple iPad revealed

I'm actually staying in the US longer than I initially thought. So my mind wanders and considers the 3G...

Bah, I can't wait that long. I'll just have to get two.

As long as I get mine on the 3rd, I'll be a happy camper. Just wondering if pre-orders will actually have them dropped shipped on the 2nd, since it's a Friday, although Saturday shipping isn't unheard of.

On a different note, while attending An Evening with Kevin Smith last night, I was reminded that Marvel Comics was purchased by Disney. Which got me thinking about the discussions we've had in here about comics on the iPad. Hmm... you know who is the largest shareholder in Disney right? Yep! Steve Jobs... :D

So who's making the official thread? I'd pitch in or do it but today's a busy day at the office. :(
I was thinking this would basically be it (the original iPhone thread started as the reveal thread). I'm sure LovingSteam would want to do it if we were to create another, though.

...but the OP better be updated with tons of pimp shit, you hear me?!

Yeah, i've brought that up before. :lol

Anyway, Mavel comics will be on the iPad day one in limited fashion through the Panelfly app, but I want to see a bigger commitment.

I warned about the Apple fanboy shit, yet someone still crosses the line, I said I'd ban for it and I am, anyone continues the Apple fanboy line, or the Apple hater line gets a months ban. Cut that shit out.

I'd never have guess that my first ban on GAF would be for calling out Apple fansb! No self-hating Apple fanboy jokes please :lol Funny enough, at MacWorld Gruber mentioned his own personal experiences reacting to the fanboy charge. Of course he followed that up with a presentation that... well, no more from me on that. ;)

So... made this note about a month ago but couldn't make a proper post when I got the ban. Can't remember exactly how I meant to expand it. Anyway:

I'm not enthused about that NYTimes app. Embedded videos, rich media and interactivity = meh. I just want to read the news, thank you very much. I actually still prefer the print format despite its many inconveniences compared to the website and rss feed. So i'll be using apps like PressReader, Extra! Extra!, News Envi, FrontPages and News Front instead.

I've finally caught up with the thread (only to discover y'all have moved on). I still have time to respond to at least one post, right?

Oh, and for the record, after looking through the rest of the internet on this particular subject, I would just like to say that I'm so proud of GAF right now for actually having the least ridiculous iPad discussion on the internet. And yes, that includes Apple's own forums.

Can't agree with you there. And I'm not being bitter about the banning. I found much richer discussion on the iPad, and Apple in general, on YCombinator and Reddit. Compare for yourself GAF's thread on Android Advertising on the Apple App Store to Hacker News or Reddit. At my last check, posters shouldn't comment on fanboys and flash in iPad threads. Yeah, totally not ridiculous at all.

Finally played with one today. Was a little miffed at the web browsing. Surfing engadget showed the weaknesses in memory. Took a long to load the page, and after clicking a story, pressing back forced a page refresh that once again took awhile. Actually felt like a bit of a hassle

I know engadget is worst case in that they stuff loads of pics on one long page. Do people see this issue on many websites or is it just a problem with a few offenders?
