Apple just launched new desktops, mice, and keyboards

You might need to, but they made sure you aren't going to.

I guess if it sucks if you're in some kind of emergency situation where you put off charging the mouse for a month but now you literally cannot wait less than a minute for it to charge.

Don't get me wrong, it definitely looks silly. But that's a few moments of silliness per month vs eternally looking at a charge port on your mouse.

I am really tempted by the 27" iMac right now for doing work at my desk and still using my 2012 Macbook Air for meetings and work out of the house or not in the office.

With Airdrop is it an easy process to share a large folder back and forth or should I be looking to work more off of an external HDD?

not like this

I got the M395X because fuck it I'm already dropping over 2k on this. That said I really don't know much about either of them. Curious how they'll compare. Definitely heard some mediocre things (being very similar to 295X). I'll never approach their limit for what I do though.

Or just put the port in the front so the user won't see it.

Like that the new trackpad is rechargeable but I rarely replace batteries and it doesn't add much other than size (the actual click works pretty well).

If you are buying a new Mac I think you get the new trackpad but I don't see a lot of people upgrading from 1 to 2.

The glass tapers all the way to the front. You'd be able to see a lip or indent if it were in the front. The only viable option would be to have it on the side. That would be fine I think but would still compromise the near seamless design.

Similar deal with ports being on the back of the iMac all these years. Not convenient at all, but it emphasizes the simple look.

NotebookCheck has a decent rundown of the 390X. Haven't seen much on the 395X but I'm sure that extra 2GB of memory will be a nice bump. Their summary is the 390X is slower than the 295X which seems to suggest the 395X will at least beat last year's part. Unless it's a straight rebrand which wouldn't totally surprise me at this point.

I think most of the people complaining is getting hung up on the wrong thing. What's a bigger travesty is the the Magic Mouse still exists. It's the most unergonomical POS mouse that ever existed and a charging point at the bottom is the least of its problems.

Why no backlit action for the new keyboard. They've had the same keyboard for the last 5 years and... Whatever. I'll just buy it and be happy.

What's wrong with the ergonomics? It's not supposed to be a mold of your hand if that's what you mean. I find the spacious nature of it quite pleasant to use vs mice where you have to hug your hand around it.

Yeah thats pretty lame, especially for that price. Surprised to see the trackpad in white, seems like Apple have been going with the steel / space grey look alot more lately.

This, entirely. It's also still pretty shitty at telling the difference between right and left click and completely missing a dedicated middle click button.

I don't use some crazy mmo mouse with 50 buttons, but goddamnit I need 3 to work efficiently in the Adobe suite and Maya / C4D. I need them to register with perfect accuracy 100% of the time. And I need to click them easy without moving my fingers around on and off of how I'm holding the mouse (why a 3 finger click for middle click is not acceptable).

So they upgraded the 21" to 4K and didn't even include Skylake? Graphics are the point of Skylake; these machines are rather hamstrung at $1500. Apple has been really lame lately.

where?

There's nowhere to put it that isn't going to get in the way of the hand.

true, but if they placed it on the side, near the back (and made a small flat surface there for the port) then the mouse could still be used when charged.

considering that the hand is not molded to the mouse when being used, the side, rear location would be mostly out of the way, imo

The 5400 RPM HDD being standard in pretty much every model is a fucking joke

this is the main story, imo. Asking people to spend an extra 100 bucks for a fusion drive (with an even smaller cache than before) on a machine that is priced as something high end is really bad form

Yeah, I can't use it, either. It just feels uncomfortable after long use, for me. (All Apple mice have been bad for me since pretty much forever.) But I love Apple keyboards and trackpads, so I'm excited about those upgrades.

Yeah, I love Apple keyboard and trackpads but they have no idea how to make a good mouse. They seem more interested in making a pretty ornament than a functional device.

I REALLY expected the new mouse, trackpad and keyboard to have built in wireless charging like cell phones. Its just a blatantly obvious thing to do with wireless peripherals.

Magicmouse 1 is amazing imo.
395X*

It's a mobile GPU. They have prioritized the slimness of the chassis for a long time. This is not a computer for a prosumer who needs crazy GPU performance.
Yeah you don't buy a Mac to play games.
But the top iMac graphic cards are fine for Adobe stuff.

Do any Apple products have wireless charging?

My team and I just placed an order of iMacs last Thursday... Damn, I'm cheesed! We're going to call them and see if we can get the upgraded ones. The faster RAM is a nice bonus, and the Magic Mouse 2 sounds a hell of a lot better than batteries.

One good thing about all this, is if you buy all three new accessories you get a lightning cable with each. So there's that. New trackpad for sure in the near future, and probably the keyboard too.

I have a Magic Mouse so I don't see a big need for the new one. Since it's all about the 3D Touch now I'll probably use the pad more anyway.

$1800 for the 5k iMac is way more impressive when you consider Dell charges $2200 for the same panel without the custom timing controller.

It's because the Iris Pro isn't available on Skylake yet.

Not the best reason, but it's their reason.

It's a pretty good reason. Iris pro in broadwell is most likely much more capable than non iris on skylake.

Yeah Iris Pro is pretty much the only integrated option worth even half a shit. Pairing non-Iris with that screen would be hell on earth.

I'm almost puking it's so gross. C'mon it's just a charging method? They probably figure people literally have dozens of these cables laying around

Apple haters need to let it be known how much they hate Apple and all their decisions and users decisions.

The new stuff is great, just really expensive :/
