Google announced Gmail on April 1st, 2004... everyone thought it was a joke.
Another good one was 2019, RRG released a trailer for their new Like A Dragon game. Everyone thought it must be a joke, because it featured turn based combat.

so it seems like (as most recent april fools day over the last 5 or so years)
its been mostly marketing to release weird game modes or dating sims or dumb shit, rather than to fuck with people.
I only dislike this day in gaming because it's just part of more of the congealed glob of shit that is modern gaming then it is poking fun like it use to be.
(also it doesn't work anymore in such a connected age, everyone knows it's april fools)
