ARC RAIDERS New Beta Gameplay Demo

Nothing in the game seemed unfinished. They should shadow drop it tomorrow.
I still think it's smarter to release it next to Marathon. Every Marathon review should mention ARC Raiders.

Plus, as good as ARC Raiders seems to be, we still know nothing about end game. Without a strong end game, ARC Raiders could be a flash in the pan.

If they launch in early / mid September it ties them to Marathon and allows them to recieve a Season 2 pop at Keighleys Game Awards.

I feel like 'end game' is overrated. Most people who scream for something like that are playing games professionally, spending a thousand hours + on it.

I bet 95% that eventually buys the game will not even touch end-game content, due to how much dedication it takes to get there.
Most will probably pay 40 bucks, play around 20/30 hours and move on.

The Queen/Harvester was a pretty nice 'end-game boss' for this test, though.

I think there's nothing wrong with the amount of content as of now, maybe add in another (high level) map. Squash some bugs and call it Season 1.
Great bang for your buck imo.

I think they do the right thing here, make this as perfect as possible, add content if possible, listen to some of the critics if possible and if it adds something good to the game. Then try and release it at the same time as Marathon, IF they release according to theire plan, and thats a BIG if. They will wipe Marathon under the rugg and there will be one competitor less.

Couldn't disagree more.

You can't build a Live Service game with this much potential and build it for players who will move on after 20 - 30 hours. That mindset died 10+ years ago.

Embark asking in a poll when they should release the game doesn't exactly show confidence.

Otherwise they would just pick a date and announce it.

If they don't have faith after all of this positive reactions, then I don't know what they need more...
Or maybe this is the best time as they currently have the momentum, but they feel they might not be able to live up to the expectations.

So it's basically a coin-flip and they ask the community to make the decision easier.

Don't forget that The Finals was kind of a dud as well.

I have a feeling will have the same fate of The Finals. Started with high numbers and now is dead.

It looks like players try other stuff but alway come back to fortnite, cs, cod and pubg.

They gotta extend thr beta

Yeah its kinda stupid how people like shroud had all benches maxed out or at least close to it, ridiculous. I was only lvl 8 lmao

I guess its how they make their money but still

Finals is not dead. Come on people. It gets 15k ccu on steam after 1.5 years and who knows how much on console. Also gets seasonal updates every 3 months. You dont need 100k concurrent players daily

Looked a full gameplay seems super cool and I really dig the art style/graphics. Hopefully it releases without any bugs and mayor crashes. I was considering give marathon a chance if it's 40 bucks, but this caught my attention a lot more.

Any information of price? It launches in July on ps5 too?

They haven't confirmed anything. But I feel like this is something we'll learn about within the coming months I'm sure.

They would need a pure PVE playlist which I personally would be in favor of and just let me explore their world they created with possibly reduced XP or just some sort of penalty for not having to worry about PVP

Would be cool to do a PVE area where you can build up a decent loadout and then from there you have to move to the PVE/PVP area to continue growing you characters, skills, base, etc.

Completed the survey and went with it needs more polish. Which, it does. However, this one caught me off guard a bit in how close it feels to being a finished product. I think it's ready in the big picture and they can improve things as time goes. This team probably feels confident in what they have now and most likely want to release it now, but nothing wrong in tightening some things up & make some changes.

IMO, they should take full advantage of the hype/word of mouth and release this now. It'd be a good business decision for Embark. They have a lot of momentum now. Why lose that? Just release it. And I say that as someone that's currently 30+hrs in Oblivion and Clair Obscur. This game is the perfect palette cleanser if you have plans, but don't have the time to play a long quest mission in any game.

Anyone know how large the team is that is working on this?

-Disagree. Game still needs work. After having a huge adrenalin dump successfully getting out of the beautifully realized/designed 3D world, you're thrown into psuedo 2D jpeg home/vendor screen that takes you immediately
out of the immersion.

-All the vendors/mission givers and the player work/home area need to be realized in full 3D like the Tower in Destiny 2. You should be able to see your player and move around the expansive underground area you're at with other
players, again like Destiny 2.

-Also, I'm not a fan of the PvP aspect in a game being forced on players. IMO, that's always the wrong approach to take design wise. Again, looking to Destiny 2, they need to take the PvP aspects and make them separate
choseable modes that players can pick.
Crucible-PvP, Vanguard-PvE strikes, raids, patrols and dungeons. I feel ARC Raiders would be a perfect fit for this design set up as well.

-Game is shaping up very nicely though. I think many Destiny 2 players are already embracing ARC Raiders because we're either burnt out or fed up with D2(your choice).

Cheers

Please no.

Game had so many issues between black screen at the end of rounds to even the binoculars not zooming in properly.
Its really odd had a friend with a PS5 Pro that crashed all the time but mine never did

I would still pay for EA and keep playing helping kill those bugs though

Played the shit out of the game yesterday and had some amazing games. Hilarious moments and riding the drones whenever I can.

I do hope there are A LOT more weapons though. Even if they are only slightly different, it would keep it interesting.

Yep the weapons and 3rd person view are my biggest issue right now. Not massive issues but my biggest ones.

Probably asked here but: is this similar in a way to The Division, or is just another PVP extraction shooter?

I would most definitely prefer a first person mode if they offered both.

There are some elements that would amazing welkin third person, but the corner peaking leads to some very bullshit moments in games like this.

Also when it comes to crashing, it happened to me very frequently (PS5 Pro). It would always happen when returning to the menu after a match and the screen would go black. From there you had to close the game in which it would hang for a moment then crash every single time this occurred. I would say it happened every two or three games.

Strange I had the Ps5 pro and only had two crashes. One when the game was first loading then one time after a match the black screen. My friends with normal Ps5s also had it because they told me to just exit and came back in and that worked for them.

Ugh, no thanks.

Its not Destiny and Im glad its not Destiny. I dont need a shitty shared space nor do I want to go to each vendor by walking up to them. Takes way too much time.

Its a PvPvE Game so no like the Division.

its a letdown the Game not has a PvE área, story. Most of these games (PvP , PvPvE) end being a cheaters feast of people with aim bots, transparent walls ,etc...

Don't know if they Game is Cross playing (PC /consoles)..because Even without cheating PC players have adventage over console due to interface.

Hope developer keeps the Game clean free of cheaters beacuse it looks fun.

Apparently there were already cheaters during the Tech Test 2....

It's why I hate the default option of Crossplay On as a console player. I would rather just cross-lay between consoles and because most players don't mess with settings, most will keep the setting On.

There were, at least wall hacks on PC

What a wonderful surprise this playtest was. I remember being insanely hyped by the initial announcement of the game (mainly because the GOAT Stefan Strandberg is part of the team), but also being somewhat disappointed seeing the first gameplay. I don't know how they did it and what exactly happened, but this playtest pushed all the right buttons for me.

Apart from the sounddesign, what impressed me the most was how the AI enemies moved and behaved. I was wondering how they managed to pull that off and a friend of mine remembered reading about it some time ago: Instead of scripting everything, they actually used AI. Really impressive stuff:

Generally these type games take some level of time commitment. How about having a player choice of 2D vendor/home setting(JPeg) or 3D vendor/home.

Or is it just your way is the only way?

ultrazilla ultrazilla some of you need to learn how to read.

I said most of the players will move on from the game after 3 months or so, not that it will sell poorly.

Filled out the survey, my only somewhat issue with the beta on PS5 was it was a little fuzzy visually, kinda like The Finals in 120hz mode when it comes to things further away. Hopefully they can make it a little more sharp and clean up some of the pop-ins that are present on all platforms but eh. I didn't have too many crashes and when it did, it was right after launching the game from the ps5 ui. Never during or after a game for me.

Its just about whats easier for the player. And they are not jpg's they are animated. Look at Tarkov, it's just an icon there.

The attraction of the game is the gameplay not some superficial hub

This is why I hated that Playstation caved on the cross play. I wish they would have stuck to their guns. Now I get put into a position where I have to play with cheaters.
