Arc Raiders |OT| Gaming's Next Mario 64 Moment™

Yesterday, I died four times, each time in a similar way, either by someone who only joins to kill, or by people camping in the bushes, or by people who quietly walk around the base and attack. In this game, the person who attacks first has a huge advantage (especially at close range), because it's rare to escape after hitting such a guy, and one shot takes a lot, especially if you're on free equipment and are currently looking for something.

I dont understand how people just can shoot someone in the back that just helped them live, i dont.....it has to be some mental illness, right? Guess i have some mental illness to, couse i cant hardly shoot first no matter what, it just feels wrong :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Anyway, soon done with the expedition, the last step goes quite fast. Then i will focus on leveling from 40 to max and bring the 2 last benches to lvl 3

I have played almost 30 hours so far and I have only found 3 blueprints man. I dont know if I am doing anything wrong or its just pure bad luck

I have about 30 hours played too but I have about a dozen blueprints. No Anvil blueprint yet though, and thats the one I really want.

In my opinion, upgrading the tables to at least level two is essential. The tasks aren't that important at the beginning, especially since they're so boring (I was hoping for something more interesting in the gameplay).

Remember that if someone really needs something quickly, they can trade it with someone else for an item in the game. There are places (e.g., Discord servers) where people post announcements about what they have to trade.

It's 2025, I play loads of games with less than 1,000 players, and they still matchmake the same or even quicker than Arc Raiders, this is a non-issue.
Unfortunately not for my country. Wouldn't get a game if there were only 1k players worldwide. Would need to play with lag on overseas servers and that's a nope from me.

Not sure how you are playing the game but avoiding other players is difficult. I run into at least 3 or 4 players per round unless I'm actively trying to avoid PVP. Even then you'll still bump into players.
Last night, I did 2 runs without a gun and a shield. Another friend joined me and told me it's like I'm playing a pre-built game. No loot even in high risk areas and no players.

If there's no loot then it's likely the areas you've gone to have already been looted during the session.

When you enter take a look at the session timer, they are 30 minutes long I think, so if you're joining mid way then unfortunately the main tactic you need to deploy is to kill other players in order to steal their loot.

I had to do the scrap yard one last night 3 times until I realised it doesn't actually pick up the item. Thought it was bugged.

Some of the quests are ok but like you say could do with a bit more thought into them. For me though the journey along the way when you are doing them makes up for it.
Yeah, the one thing the quests do really well is get you to travel to different areas of the maps.

The funniest part is when you both go to betray each other at the exact same time and it usually ends up as a wild west shootout situation at the extraction point.

If I'm cool with a bro in solos, I will still never be the one that goes to press the extract button. Hell naw.

I have to admit a few times I saw someone had a decent gun and just when it's there ripe for the picking I think fuck it, brap.

Loaded it up.....Did the tutorial.....

Did the first mission to infiltrate a loot area and loot 3 boxes.....Got killed twice lol. Once using the extraction computer, shot in my back by another player.

Good start lol

I do have a mic, and bound my proximity chat, but I have yet to hear anyone address me in game. And like I said I'm leaning towards murder, as that's what's been done to me, and trauma begets trauma.

I also don't want to get too far ahead of my friend(s) in the case that they do actually pick up the game soon so it's a bit in limbo.
I've completed everything but the quests. Take it from me, upgrading the workshop is infinitely more valuable than the quests. I would work on the workshop solo and save the quests for duos / trios with people who need to travel to the same areas with you. You'll be on the same path with friends and you'll learn what items they will need for workshop while playing solo.

It's a game lol. Best part of extraction shooters is others bringing loot to you.

Does anyone else think it would be a good thing if players who are using a free loadout were more visually obvious than they are right now?

I say this because even as I love the PVP danger side of things, when I engage someone in combat potentially to get some good loot, I immediately feel both disappointment and guilt when I loot the body and they are carrying next to nothing (free loadout).

on the receiving end when you load in to just do some quest shit and pick free loadout to just get the job done you die to some random pvp player and they get no loot from you, its kind of a shitty situation for all.

Some players will shout out that they are on free loadout which is cool, but if there was an ever so slightly more obvious marker or way to tell someone was not carrying gear it would be a better experience. I love PVP but I dont wanna shoot someone whos just started the game with a free loadout etc

Also fucking eurogamer is such a dogshit site, it deserves to be excluded from metacritic. They gave this game a 2 out of 5. They basically liked the game, but gave it a bad score because the use of ai voice LOL

Fuck off to oblivion eurogamer

the clips are amusing, but I feel like if i buy into the hype, i just get killed right after respawn over and over and never actually get to bring anything back.

Terrible idea. You'd show who was on a decent load out as well.

Free loadout raiders would just get executed for the fun of it. Thats what I'd do.

Buying into the hype only costs around £20 if you shop around. Bargain.

The first few weeks in the game wont last forever. Things are hotting up already in my experience.

I'll take the L for this one.

I likely shit on and tea bagged their reviewer multiple times. Thanks for the loot euro scrubs lololol.

I absolutely adore this game, it offers something that I haven't experienced in a long time on my PS5.
I just hope Embark can take it places and succeed.

No lol, that's the risk you take in an extraction shooter. One of the big draws to this genre is the risk/reward. People already trying to dumb the game down when this game has already dumbed most things down to begin with.

Rank system in this game is massively broken and needs to be rehauled or patched.

I'm still stuck at rookie 3, yet i got 2 star in all of the trials for the week, and in general play like a beast.

WTF?

Weird interactions today, a guy is looting a cabinet in a high value area. I shoot when he is looting and starts screaming:" why, what's the point"
It's an online looter shooter, what do you expect.
Damn those soy boys

I want to experience these mythical peaceful solo arc lobbies. Sure, there are several friendly people on the map, but in the end at least one of them will shoot at me first. Could it have something to do with the region?

This game..... Got spawned near Murano station on dead city so made a b line for the stash. Another player had the same idea and we had a long range Avil duel for a good 5 minutes as the sand and tumble weed blew between us. He gave up when he knew he was bested and legged it.

The atmosphere is incredible.

I got called a bitch ass n*gga by some kid who barely hit puberty claiming he had no loot. I tea bagged him and he had a ton of good loot lmao.😂

Feels weird to be an old man or a young man but still get the N word thrown at you online gaming.

Time is a flat circle.

My squad wiped the floor with another squad who had just fought a Leaper on Blue Gate. The last guy alive starting yelling at us and saying he hopes we all get testicular cancer and some other crazy shit.

We took his Snaphook LMAO

I just got an anvil splitter legendary mod. It wasn't a recipe unfortunately but it makes the anvil shoot 4 bullets but at 70% reduced damaged.

Will use it on a fully kitted out anvil last week of season to see.

What an amazing item.

Time of day. Before school is out is normally a lot friendlier. Evenings and weekends are brutal at times.

That thing is crazy good on the already great Anvil. I've actually found two of them on some solo raids.

I tried out the Bobcat last night and it's very fun to use. Melts people, but eats ammo.

I need to start using Ospreys more as I have a stockpile of about 10 now :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I was also an idiot today, somebody aproched with the comment that he was on free loadout en wanted tot join my extraction
Dude shot me in the back, my mistake...

I had a guy asking me what level I was and what gear I had on me. I played dumb and told him I was only level 11. He decided to run off someplace else, but I knew he was looking for some higher loot players to backstab.

Still most interactions while solo have been friendly.

I don't even know where these arguments stems from.
It stems from other failures, like Sea of Thieves that was already mentioned here.

I would argue mentioning 2 of the biggest online games around (COD and Fortnite) as good examples isnt exactly a good argument either.

I trust Embark to make the best decision. They seem to know what they are doing.

Be me, legging it to a yellow-light-flashing elevator extraction point.

I run in as the light goes green, and the dude at the terminal goes "Friendly here, let's get outta here!"

A guy comes sliding in at the last second, and starts shooting the "don't shoot" guy, who immediately goes: "I HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILES DIES IN A FIRE! BOTH OF YOU!"

I'm just standing here, dude! Successful extract. (for me)

Not sure my playtime, but I'm level 41. I have around 15 blueprints I think.

When in a trio we will give the ones we have to others and otherwise just sell them. The Bettina blueprint seems to have a crazy high chance of appearing.

Duplicate protection would go a long way in this game.

If I don't rank up this week I'll be curious.

This is from one single solo run….

Like how the fuck did I not go up this last week. I'm a fucking unit.

Sea of Thieves a failure..? :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Serious question, how did Sea of Thieves' "failure" impact you as a player...? I mean, I've played it regurarily with my now eleven year old son for more than six years, and still playing it weekly. But we were completely unaware of its failure. I'm shocked by this news, so I'm just curious about what are we missing here.

If that's the standard, 99.99% of record selling games will eventually end up a failure - for some convenient reason.

And again you keep flinging general notions up in the air without ever explaining your reasons for why they are good arguments. I gave you a reason for why "split userbase" is mostly not valid because extra modes like the Zombies mode, or DMC, or even the main campaign tend to expand the user base, not splitting it. Cheating and its like will in most cases split the userbase 1000X more than a mere extra mode. ...And in that case, a cheater-less mode could even retain a part of its user base.
